  1. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 07:08 PM) No kidding. Richmond is 30 games under .500 and has a team OPS of .660. It's still a good confidence booster for the kid making his first start in AAA.
  2. Meh, the article was pretty useless. Everyone knows Ozzie has a big mouth and it could cost him his job one day.
  3. Good luck Los. Remember to cheer as hard as you can when AJ steps up to the plate in los angel..hmm Anaheim.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 09:12 PM) http://nwitimes.com/articles/2006/08/23/up...1d300562d51.txt Would you rather let your mother think you have a bomb or a penis pump? Hmmm what a dumbass. Lol...what an IDIOT.
  5. Good job by Lance. Hopefully he can keep getting it done in Charlotte.
  6. YESS!! BOBBY COMES IN AND SLAMS THE DOOR!!! SOX WIN! SOX WIN!
  7. QUOTE(Allsox @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) Eh, Cintron really isn't what you call patient at the plate, at least for the leadoff spot. I don't mind him in the 2 hole but he really can't seem to turn around a decent fastball like Mack can. That wasn't strike 2 on Pods. Yeah Cintron will take a walk if he sees a pitcher is wild, but he doesn't mind swinging at the first pitch every at bat at all.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) I said this earlier, but if he's back within 10 days, I'll be thrilled. I hope you're very wrong because this is about the worse time.
  9. QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) I don't know why Brian Anderson gets let off the hook by so many fans. Has he proven he can hit yet in the big leagues? I mean I like his defense as much as anybody but you can't tell me he's done better than Rowand did. Again, I like his defense and his potential I guess, but Brian Anderson does not appear to me to have star potential as a hitter. I know ... Crede took a while too. We shall see but to say we'll have one of the best cf's for the next six years, I dunno about that. Even the biggest Brian supporters have to admit he has been a C- at the plate to D plus to go with his A-plus work in cf. Anderson has turned it around with that bat, he's been a lot better for the past few months. As far as proven that he can hit mlb pitching is yet to been seen on a consistent level. Hell even if he was batting a steady .300 through the season it still wouldn't be a guarentee until he proves it again. Next season will be a good indicator on what to expect Anderson to do.
  10. I did not expect to beat Santana and I knew that if we didn't win vs Radke it would have been a sweep. It sucks that we lost the series, but were still ahead one game with the Tigers finally getting into a little slump. We need to capitalize and keep pounding them and shoot their spirits even further down. We can't beat Santana with our best starter out there so at least they went vs one of our worse. Hopefully this next big series really gets our guys going on a winning streak. What an 8 game win streak could do for this ballclub.
  11. Alright JG with a good game and some good bullpen help! SOX WIN SOX WIN!
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) I'm thinkin' he doesn't want to be here anymore. Between these latest comments, and the crap a couple weeks ago about how he doesn't get up for bad teams -- he's practically begging them to trade him. Maybe he's bitter because they tried to shop him during last off-season. Mark is going nowhere. I guess it should've been in green. Mark, Jon, or Contreras are going nowhere.
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) ^^^ That was just not a good move. I'm a HUGE KW fan but he just got greedy with this trade, shoulda left BMac in the rotation and kept CY. Glad you have a tracker for Young. Lots of people around here will be looking at that...
  14. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) It was fun last week thinking we had halfway decent pitching. This whole pitching staff needs to be rebuilt in the off-season. Yup, get rid of everyone.
  15. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) I didn't realize his arb years went to 08, my bad. To be honest, and I admit I'm not really a Crede guy, but are you going to want him for 5 or 6 years AFTER 08 realizing they will be expensive years,he's a guy with a bad back, and that he's yet to prove he can be a middle of the order hitter. By proving to be a middle of the order hitter do you mean that he hasn't shown it besides this year or including this year? I mean he has good numbers and is clutch so I don't understand...
  16. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 12:19 PM) I'll never understand why people go to see movies for actors and actresses. (If you'll notice Adam Sandler in Punch Drunk Love you'll get some idea how worthless an actor is and how pivitol a writer and director is.) Maybe because you are a fan of that persons work? Just because I like someone doesn't mean I am going to go watch them if I think the movie is worthless, thats just stupid.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) What in the hell does this have to do with the "new and improved" Freddy Garcia? Since the very first inning of his first start of the season, he was a completely different pitcher than he was previously in his career. Not only has his stuff gotten significantly worse, but he's been showing some of the character issues that people were concerned about when he was in Seattle. Maybe it's time he realizes that going 6 innings, 4 earned runs every game isn't good. How many runs did Cliff Politte allow in the postseason? That was 2005....that doesn't mean s*** in 2006. 6 inning with 4 earned runs every game is a lot better than what Vazquez can do. Not that I am defending Freddy, but he isn't going anywhere right now so were going to have to deal with him.
  18. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) Great....if this happened we're f***ed. This team is coming apart, not coming together.... From the article on the sox web site it says that Sandy's words were put out of context. He said something like he was going to punch AJ's lights out when AJ told Sandy that earlier as a joke and the reporter ofcourse made a big deal from it. Here it is: http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...sp&c_id=cws Ozzie wouldn't let anything like this happen if they were serious.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) It would be nice if Pods showed some of that speed. On the rare occurrence Pods does get on base, it almost seems like he is on non-threat on the basepaths. Pods had a GREAT 1st half last year. Like you said, an All Star 1st half. However, he hasnt even come CLOSE to showing that this year, and we are a different team because of it. I really miss the Pods from the 1st half of 05, boy was he a nuisance on the basepaths. He could put pressure on the defense, he could steal a bad, he could hit for a good avg. He was really a spark, but now its just nice to have him on base because he's fast. Other than that he hasn't been that great this season at all. His defense sucks (not that it was great to begin with) he can't bunt whether its for a basehit or just for a sacrifice. I also don't remember him K'ing looking so many times last season either. What is actually wrong with Pods this year? Is he still injured or what because he can barely ever steal a bag.
  20. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 10:34 PM) the biggest issue here isnt anything ozzie did ...the biggest thing is that garcia has completely lost the ability to shut any offense down, period....it seems to me that he has completely lost the ability to shut a team down and give up less than 2 runs through 7 innings....at least not an AL team in addition, hawk used to rave about how freddy was a winner and pitched just well enough to win....well tonight, and in most of his recent starts, he has pitched just well enough to lose.....i really wish they had traded him at the deadline, because they wont be able to move him for much this offseason The opposition is also running circles around him. I had a bad feeling when Hunter came up and he proved me right. I didn't have much confidence after that. While Freddy does need to go, at least he keeps us in games. Oh I can't wait for Vazquez to give us 5 s***ty innings. The offense should have been able to put up at least 4 against Boof. Freaking ridiculous.
  21. Neal made a good pitch and Morneau was barely able to get it out of the infield. Tough luck, Andersons play didn't help us either. By the way, Cotts is getting too much blame for the loss. What happened to our offense again making "Boof" look like Santana? This was a must win game for the sox and now we have two sox killers in a row. I will be happy if we don't get swept.
  22. I'd like to kick their ass anytime we get the chance. Especially a sweep, but they always toss Santana vs us. I remember those years we were looking up at them hoping to close the gap. Well they always whupped on us so I am hoping to return the favor. Go get em sox.
  23. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) I still think they are a threat in the playoffs, with or without Harden. Zito and Haren are both good starters, and Blanton and Loaiza can both be solid from time to time. If they can get to even the 6th in the playoffs with a lead, they have to feel pretty comfortable. The problem is the offense, but if it gets hot, they can win it, just like the Sox did last year. The talent is most definately there in my mind. Also, Rich Harden is becoming a joke. I don't even consider him when I think about Oakland...he's just completely fallen off the radar. He is the next Wood or Prior. Everyone talks about how good he'll be if he's healthy, but the problem of course is that he's not healthy at all. Yeah, but you know why everyone talks about him? Because he's on Beane's squad and anything Beane has is gold. Not a knock on Beane at all, but its true. I mean you'll see at the end of the season when Crosby gets his MVP tro...
  24. I won't complain about the win whether it was close vs the Royal or not. A win is a win. Time to step it up again next series.
