  1. What does Lovie do for the second half? Bears clearly playing well enough to beat Packers. So does he let the starters leave with confidence or does he risk that let them try to win the game? Very interesting.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 1, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) Really? I feel like I have a lot of trouble naming people who came out of ND and really lit the NFL on fire for the last 5-ish years. Can you name some for me? Weis began coaching in 2005 and since then, the ND draftees on offense. 2006 Draft: Anthony Fasano (Cowboys) Maurice Stovall (Buccaneers) Dan Stevenson (Patriots) 2007 Draft: Brady Quinn (Browns) Ryan Harris (Broncos) Dan Santucci (Bengals) 2008 Draft John Carlson (Seahawks) John Sullivan (Vikings) 2009 Draft No one of note on offense 2010 Draft Jimmy Clausen (Panthers) Golden Tate (Seahawks) Sam Young (Cowboys ) So under his tenure, they consistently sent guys to the league. When they get there, I don't think you can blame Weis for them not becoming All-Pros. Once they get drafted (which Weis helped in), it's to the players to make the most of their situation. Coach K has been fantastic at Duke getting players to the NBA and having great college teams, but Duke players don't exactly light the world on fire in the pros either.
  3. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jan 1, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) I'll take a different route in this argument: if Weis struggled relating to players and their familes, it sure as hell didn't show in the recruiting classes. In his time at ND (not counting the '05 class when he was hired late, including 2010 since that was mostly with him recruiting), the Irish signed 7 five-star recruits and 57 four-star recuits. A lot of them didn't pan out, especially on defense, but there were still plenty of highly regarded players in South Bend. If i was a high school offensive player, there is no doubt I would want to go to where Charlie Weis is. He has proven he can develop guys in to NFL-caliber players and has been extremely successful in the NFL. For most highly recruited players, the goal is the NFL and there are few better than Weis in getting you there.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 12:45 PM) I remember that. I didn't remember Cora biting somebody. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...p;#entry1142874 It was only alleged, but where there is smoke there is fire. Seems like an odd accusation against someone on the team coaching staff.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) Link It was the Bulls fault for hiring a coach with ZERO coaching experience at any level. VDN did about as good as any coach would have done with the Bulls roster and injuries the past two years. There is no doubt Thibs is lights years better than Vinny in offensive and defensive strategy, but he has also been coaching about 30 years -- 30 years longer than VDN. I am one of the few Bulls fans that appreciate what VDN did; he let Derrick play immediately and that clearly has paid off. He helped improve Noah to where he now is an All-Star-caliber player -- something nobody would have thought three years ago.
  6. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) How are A.J. and Castro gonna benefit Camp Cora? Or even Pierre and Rios for that matter? And if there's one OF I want going there, it's Quentin. They are going to learn how to bite people in the bottom of a scrum.
  7. Urlacher, Briggs, Peppers and Hester are the Bears' Pro Bowlers. No complaints from me, but I think Briggs got in this year on reputation but that happens all the time. I think C. Harris could sneak in with an injury.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) I understand the argument that going after and signing Vincent Jackson would make this team a lot better by giving Cutler a legit #1 option, a threat that makes everyone better, etc, but yeah, I can't put that priority as higher than 2nd on the list. If the Bears are going to spend money this offseason and FA proceeds normally somehow, I think Mankins out of NE ought to be their #1 target, and they still ought to draft OL with their first pick. Tommie Harris is clearly gonna get the whack. Then I would also whack Chester Taylor to save up some money. Sign Mankins and draft either Solder from Colorado or Conastanzo (sp??) from BC. Also try to sign V-Jack, but only after Mankins. Line becomes vastly improved.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 10:42 AM) Marshall makes a lot of sense because of Cutler. I dunno. Marshall will cost a lot in price and draft picks whereas V-Jack and Ocho (likely) will be free agents and not require a pick.
  10. Stephen Jackson isn't even close to the answer to our problems, so I don't buy those rumors for an instant. He hasn't shot above .420% since 2007 and isn't a team player. And we aren't trading Taj when we don't have Noah. I only trade that Bobcats pick in a deal for a legit superstar. I would like to see what Ronnie Brewer can do starting because I don't think people give him enough credit. When given starter minutes wit the Jazz two yeas ago ago he averaged 14 point per game. He shoots a high percentage because he plays within himself and gets the majority of his baskets around the hoop. Add to that great defense, why do people think we are in desperate need of a 2-guard. Brewer is the guy if he got the chance. Once we get Noah, we don't need a 2-guard to score 20 points, we need him to be like Brewer.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 06:51 AM) Didn't we already trade JR Smith for virtually nothing? We got Howard Eisley and two second round picks!!! And in 2007 draft, we got Aaron Gray and JamesOn Curry!! So there. Who knows if those were the same picks though since trading of second round picks is common, but yeah we had the guy and gave him up for nothing.
  12. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 25, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) They're not a serious title contender. But they're definitely a playoff team. As much as I hate the Knicks, they're one player away from being a serious threat. When this team is fully healthy, they are a contender. No doubt in my mind. They are eight games over despite a very tough schedule and not having Boozer and Noah on the court for most of them. Once they trot out Noah-Boozer-Deng-Bogans (even though I hate him starting)-Rose as a starting line-up every night, they will be as good as anyone in the NBA this side of Boston. The Magic look lost right now. The Heat don't have enough inside. And the Lakers look average right now. Boston is the only team in a seven-game series at full health that we couldn't beat. They have the size, the team play, the defense, everything. The Spurs are really good, too, but we played them down to the wire without Boozer on the road. And how the hell did Keith Bogans start for the Spurs last year? The guy brings nothing to table except solid defense. Brewer does that too and is bigger. And he adds an offensive dimension.
  13. Rose is getting raped and nothing is being called. And the NBA fix is on, Amare isn't called for that foul early in the game but rather it's Chandler.

Being a Jew, I just saw True Grit. Loved it. Entertaining. Funny. Great performances. And man, if Steinfeld doesn't win the Oscar that will be wrong. She was awesome.
  15. Yahoo Sports MLB Power Rankings from December 23 http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ti-powerrankings122310 So we add Dunn and drop?? And the Twins are fifth despite no Pavano and no bullepn? Too much eggnog from the writer?
  16. Hawks game 2nite for the bday!! About all I could really ask for!
  17. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 10:21 AM) Does anyone who subscribes to insider mind sharing this http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/blog?name=o...&id=5946049 piece with us. It's Olney on top 10 (11) rotation in baseball. Curious to see where he projects and what he says about the White Sox. Haha. I was about to post the same thing. Please someone!! Just the Sox portion.
  18. Ride it out. I am confident a deal will get done. And with Mark and Edwin coming off the books, it frees up the necessary funds to re-sign Danks.
  19. We should try to get this stickied in the main forum. I think the attendance would greatly increase by the added exposure.

Never should two guys pee right next to each other unless there are dividers. I would definitely use the short one to avoid this situation.
  21. I am gonna try to make it out. Sounds like fun.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 08:03 AM) They did say that it's been bothering him for a while, he's been playing through a fair amount of pain, he keeps getting hit on that spot, and really, he hasn't dominated games on the boards for the past couple weeks like he was for the first few weeks of the season. Yeah, and I read some quotes from Jo in the paper that it is really bad.
  23. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 10:00 PM) Apparently it is the exact opposite. They let him play tonight because there was literally nothing he could do to make it worse. Which is why I wonder why they couldn't take care of it in the off-season. He seemed fine yesterday.
  24. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 10:48 PM) Wood to Cubs is the new word. Once a loser, always a loser. Enjoy that 75-win ball club.
