I think the Sox should try and trade for Cruz or sign El-Duque. Orlando would command only $3-4 million per year, which would let us sign A.J or Cairo. I think he would be a very good pitcher in our rotation, he only went 8-2 with a 3.30 era and no body within the Sox talks about (unless Kenny is under the radar with him). If all else fails why not try and trade for Cruz: Billy Beane's pen is pretty filled, so he might look to trade Juan, you could probably get him with Willie Harris and a young pitcher. Dunno, but I don't want Grilli starting for the Sox.

http://www.twincities.com/mld/pioneerpress...ts/10426940.htm If this is what the Red Sox are willing to pay, Kenny pay him $3 million a year; for a catcher of his calliber that's a hell of a bargain.

I definately could see Clement getting $36 million over 4 years from the Angels or Dodgers, the only way the Sox get him is if they give him a reasonable offer and he because he is a good guy chooses to stay in Chicago. Both unlikely though.

http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...s_mlb&fext=.jsp I knew I saw it somewhere, any way this moves really puts in the Cubs face which rarely happens these days, we need this for the off-season to be complete.
-
I asssume this means the Angels raised from there original offer of 3-years $21 million to somewhere around 3-years $24 million. I think I read the Angels original offer was around 21 for 3, someone correct me if I was wrong.
-
My guess is the Sox and Clement have a lot of mutual interest. The Sox need Clement and Clement wants to stay in Chicago.

If he needs to find JR, it must have to do with payroll and expanding. They way he said it sounds as if it isn't just a basic trade, but one with payroll implications. Hopefully it's a good one, or maybe a FA signing, on rotoworld.com they said a mystery team came into the bidding, maybe Kenny believes Clement wants to be in Chicago and he has said he would like to come to the Sox, any way sounds exciting.

I might consider Lee and a mid-prospect for Ginter, Podsednik and Luis Visciano (sp?)--the guy who starts for them and was dominate agianst the Cubs

Nero Says Johnson never turned down the Sox
maggsmaggs replied to santo=dorf's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If you are the Sox you got to make this deal, having Grilli as a 5th starter with a Vasquez in the rotation is one thing, but Grilli with Johnson in the rotation is acceptable. -
Braves Trade Capellan For Dan Kolb
maggsmaggs replied to Rowand44's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The Braves have won 13 straight Division Titles, they rarely make stupid moves. -
cbssportsline's Scott Miller reported that Jaret Wright flunked his physical with the Yankees because of a shoulder problem. http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/story/7988141 Maybe the Sox aren't so stupid after all

Lawton will be traded to Pittsburgh for Aurthur Rhodes. Thank god Lawton is going, all he did against the Sox was kill them. He is finally gone. http://rotoworld.com/content/playernews.asp?sport=MLB

I wouldn't worry, Kenny's #1 goal this off-season was getting a top of the line pitcher, he wanted Johnson and knows that the success of the Sox rests on the rotation. He saw how bad the #5 spot was this year and he will get another starter. Don't take the confidence in Jason Grilli factor in too much, it's only posturing in case he somehow doesn't get that other pitcher. He needs to say this so Grilli is confident when he comes to Spring Training. Kenny knows we need another pitcher, despite how much we rip him, he isn't an idiot and will find another solid pitcher.

I would rather have Willie playing 2nd than Cora, Willie can put up decent numbers will a full season and he's wheels and just needs to learn how to use them.
-
Why not get the other O. Perez in Odalis, he posted similar numbers as Oliver did this year two years ago. He would come relatively cheap and we wouldn't have to trade our top two prospects.

This is what Jim said,

But guys Jim said his friend wrote it an hour or so before this Rashid post and we know Jim isn't trying to screw with us. I guess I am an eternal optimist.

your right I was believing and still am, if it's made-up, I was a big time sucker along with many other members of Soxtalk.com

All this seems like to much of a coincidence to be false. We have known that the Marlins were trying to get rid of Castillo and add a big-time hitter. We also know Kenny has a knack for trading our top prospects, so all this adds up to something reasonable.

Brown and Tait out for the year
maggsmaggs replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
good news: Tait only sprained it, so he is day to day, that's a relief. -
I would definately take Sisco, we need a lefty in our pen and he has much better stuff than Arnie Munoz, sometimes you got to take fisks and he is one to take a risk on.

Brown has a neck injury and Tait tore his ACL http://rotoworld.com/content/playernews.asp?sport=NFL
