  1. I agree with Gload as very valuable, but I would rather trade Konerko for good pitching and then sign J.D. Drew with the money we pocket from Konerko's departure. Then, I would put Gload in as our 1b, he is much better defensively than Konerko, faster and can hit for a higher average.
  2. Willie has got to be starting at 2b all the time or CF with Rowand playing Right instead of Borchard. Willie's got a .354 OBP, even though his average is .269, if he started everyday that might be closer to .285. At this point there is no reason that Alomar should be starting, Willie is probably a better fielder because of his superior range and arm compared to Alomar. Also, there is no doubt that he is a better hitter and base runner. Here's to Willie staring everyday against righties and lefties. If he plays everyday, he might start swinging like he did in May when he had his .320 average.
  3. Aaron Rowand look at the numbers, he has a .943 OPS, while the next closest AL Center Fielder is .848 and that's Johnny Damon. We should really be thankful that we have Rowand and that he is a gamer who works hard all the time. He's better than Damon, Kotsay, Wells, Hunter, Balldelli and more.
  4. http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...px?GAMEID=15113 He threw a no-no; wow B-Mac yesterday and Tofu today. That might beat B-Mac for the #1 performance of the week.
  5. At the times of thier injuries, they were both having MVP-type years. Frank's injury occurred the night the Sox beat Florida in the 10th innning (June 15th) He was batting .298 with 17 homers and 43 RBI's; not to mention a .462 OBP and a 1.101 OPS. Magglio's injury was May 25th against Texas, when he was hurt I think swinging. He was batting .311 with 8 homers and 34 RBI's. --When you think about where we are without these two, it is probably better than expected. To be 4 games over .500 without a Hall of Famer/MVP canditate and a perennial all-star/MVP candidate, isn't great, but isn't all the bad. Put things into perspective, the last 3 losses: 1 to Minny and 2 to Det., if we had these guys, we probably would have won them. At least this year, we have an excuse and pretty good one unlike the last 2 years.
  6. **This was just my opinion, I don't have a source, sorry if I made it seem like I had an inside source. It was just what I thought it might take.
  7. Hariston would cost: Uribe or Harris + a mid prospect (Josh Stewart) Catallanato would cost: Brice + Ruddy Yan
  8. The Twins next 11 series is as follows: -White Sox -Boston -Anaheim -Oakland -Seattle -Cleveland -New York -Cleveland -Texas -Anaheim -Oakland On the other hand we play: -Twins -Detroit -Kansas City -Cleveland -Kansas City -Boston -Detroit -Boston -Detroit -Cleveland -Philly (1 game) --If we take 2 of 3 from the Twins, we will be in first and then with the much easier schedule we can be in first hopefully by 5 games come September.
  9. Gary Majewski adn Jon Rauch for Everett. Good trade!!
  10. He also has a player option for next year at only $4 million dollars, so that is also good news, he may stick around next year.
  11. Once they get above .500 then we should be concerned. But since they haven't yet, don't worry.
  12. If Thomas goes on the DL, they will activate Magglio Ordonez and let him DH. Frank might also have to arthoscopic knee surgery. --You just beat me in the typing
  13. We are 1 1/2 games out of first without our best player. We are playing our worst baseball of the year currently and are 1 1/2 games out The Twins have played their easy part of their schedule We have played our hard part The last 2 week of the year the Twins come to us for 3, then to Clev. for 4, then to Yankee Stadium for 3, then at home for 3 against the Tribe. We have a shot to pick up 3 games there. By then the Tribe will be out of it and the success of their season will be knocking a team out of the playoffs. We, on the other hand, play Detoit-3, Minny-3, KC-4, DET-3, then KC-4; doesn't get much easier. Did I mention we are only 1 1/2 games out without our superstar. Everyseason has ups and downs, last week we were on top of the world. When Magglio comes back we will have more ups than downs and win the division. We are fine and we will have a second half surge like usual. Any thoughts?
  14. This is according to Newsday: http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/ny-...ny-sports-print **But remember when Akron-Beacon Journal said we had signed Sidney Ponson for 3 years-$27 million. Let's hope this one is true.
  15. The Diamondbacks broke it in the 9th. It was 5-3 and he blew it. Man does he blow, the Dodgers should send him back to AAA
  16. We really have none: Donald Lucy-He's gotta be #1 on the depth soon, but struggling so far Jon Acevas-maybe Charlie Lisk-NO Carlos Lee-NO Chris Stewart-No Gustavo Molina-NO --I really wish we had kept Michael Rivera, who had some very good minor league seasons, he would be an ideal replacement, but we lost him some how. Maybe we can sign Jason Varitek in the off-season, maybe just wishful thinking. Any thoughts?
  17. Let's also not forget that he was the 2nd pick in the '95 draft, before Todd Helton, Kerry Wood, Roy Halliday among others. This guys potential is as much as Miguel and maybe a change of scenery will spark it. You aren't the second pick of the draft unless you got some serious potential, hopefully Greg Walker can spark some of it.
  18. Kenny said that Freddy's best friend (ozzie) said that we have a good shot to resign to a long term deal. If we do, then it's a good trade, he's an Ace pitcher and an Ace pitcher is better than Miguel Olivo.
  19. It's ture I heard it on the broadcast, 15 Day Elbow Inflamation, Diaz to start tomorrow
  20. http://www.bluejayway.ca/forum/index.php?topic=3162.new oddly enough from a Bluejays forum.
  21. BTW, the money payroll was from http://dugoutdollars.blogspot.com/2003_09_...rs_archive.html
  22. They are currently in the books for $12 million next year, you figure that raises to $25 million through arbitration and options and other sorts. They also lose $13 million from Bob Wickman and Omar Visquel. Then, Cleveland has been known to raise payroll significantly when they can be in serious contention. That means that they can raise payroll to $50 million and have $25 million for Free Agency. They don't need any starting pitching, maybe a veteran 5th man, they definately don't need offense. All they need is a bullpen and I was looking at some potential Free Agents: Felix Hernandez Jason Christianson (T) Robb Nen Antonio Osuna Trevor Hoffmann (T) Rod Beck (T) Steve Kline Jose Mesa Rheal Cormier Roberto Hernandez Billy Wagner (T) David Weathers Paul Schuey Armando Benitez Chad Fox Antonio Alfonseca John Smoltz (T) Terry Adams Ron Villone Curtis Leskanic Billy Koch Scott Williamson Alan Embree (T) Mike Timlin (T) Troy Percival Uegeth Urbina (T) Jeff Nelson Eddie Guardado (M) They can get some of these guys with that $25 million, they might have the best team in the AL. This is scary, the Sox need to do something this year because next year will be the year of the Indians
  23. We are two games out and next week we are trading nobody for an MVP type candidate in maggs Ordonez. When we get him back, everybody will play better because of his presecnce and win the division by 3 games
  24. He desereves this year so much and to see Giambi winning, it sickens me. We all need to put 5 minutes aside and get some votes for the Big Hurt. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...y2004/index.jsp
  25. These are the games that gets everybody together, they mesh after a great ungly win. This might jump start us to a streak, then we get Maggs back and when the pitching gets through the dead arm period. We will get that big run.
