Harold said Frank scored 45 times, he scored 87 times, you complete idiot!!
-
I'd say, John Kruk says something good and something idiotic in the form of a criticism from Reynolds. I like Kruk and being a former Sox player, he usually says someting good. But, harold is also talking bad about the Sox.

It looks like Maggs is distracted by something, probably his contract, right now. I think we need to re-sign, so he can concentrate on his performance. I think all of Frank's homers have been solo, Maggs isn't doing so hot and isn't getting on-base now. When it looked he and the Sox were close to an extenstion, he performed awesome, with clutch hits and all. Now, as it appers that a deal isn't that close, his perfromance has dipped. NOT to say he is struggling, but I hold Maggs to a higher standard, as it just doesn't look like the usual Maggs. He is swinging at bad pitches, striking out and not walking. Carlos is also hurting from Maggs, he needs more men on base. To fix all this and have a MVP in Maggs again, we need to resign him NOW. Any thoughts??

Warren Morris (as Hawk would say, "The Magical bat of Warren Morris") Tim Salmon Frank Catalanato Ichiro David Ortiz

I would have to go with Takatsu, he looks unhittable. What do you guys think?

He has been given a chance 4 straight years to be a major league pitcher, his era has never been under 5.18. Hawk treats him like a God after he won 14 games for us in 2002, but his era was 5.18; that's still terrible. Whenever, he pitches he helps us lose, he has won 1 game since the start of last year. On the other hand, Feliz Diaz: PITCHERS W-L SV ERA IP H R ER BB IB SO Diaz, Felix 4- 0 0 2.01 31.1 23 9 7 3 0 29 He has only walked 3 batters and given up only 23 hits, which is a .83 WHIP. Albeit Triple A, he couldn't fare much worse than Dan Wright. Any thoughts?

Not pretty, but I'll take it!!!
-
The key tonight won't be the offense, we will score 7+ tonight, but the key is Buerhle, Adkins and prbably Cotts the rest of the way. We need to keep the Yankees off the boars while we play catch-up. Let's go Sox!!!
-
He said today on the Carmen and Silvy show that the Sox have offered Maggs a 4 year deal worth $58 million dollars!! I know he is our prime-time player, but if this is true he'll be making as much as Vlad. No offense to Maggs, but Vlad is a better hitter and a hell of a better fielder. Still, I'll be happy if they resign, I am just worried that we are over paying him.

We need to fill the seats for good mid-season moves and the future. Maybe just because it's Arpril and day games, attendance is low; but, hopefully when the night games start, the attendance will pick up. Any thoughts?

2004 Amateur Baseball Draft
maggsmaggs replied to israel4ever's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The Big 3 from Rice are Wade Townsend, Jeff Nimienan and Phillip Humber; all are expected to go in the first with Townsend being a consesus top 3. -
According to ESPN we offered 4 years at around $14 million per season. It says Maggs wants 5 years, but the price is right. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/clubhouse?team=chw

My guess is they will be used in a deal for a SS or starter at the deadline. I could see a Rauch, Diaz, Valentin trade for Orlando Cabrera. I highly doubt this to happen as well as Diaz, Valentin, Rauch, Grilli, Harris and possibly Borchard for Cabrera and Vidro. Both will be available at the deadline and they would provide a huge boost, better than Everett and Alomar. I would love to see one of them here in July. No doubt Kenny will go after one of them secretly.
-
Cotts looks like he had a revelation in control duirng the winter. He was located the first game against the Yanks and today.
-
Cabrera is cheap for this year, which I believe is his last in his contract. I could see the Sox trading Jose, Felix and Rauch for this guy. We probably have to pay all of Jose's contract, but I'd take a sure handed SS, with some pop. And with the Sox his numbers would be that much better. However if we go after him, we'd most likely be in a bidding war with the Cubs, who can easily offer more highly-touted prospects.
-
If you go by statistical numbers the Sox would have one of the better farms systems in the league. But since, Baseball America's rankings are based on age and potential, guys like Felix Diaz, Josh Stewart and Jon Rauch get overlooked. They aren't young and filled with potential, but they solid and couls help the Sox if needed during games and in trade value; maybe for Orlando Cabrera from Montreal (sorry Jose just doesn't do it.)

In the year 2000, we had a similar situation with players who have had little success: C Lee Singleton Sirotka Baldwin Parque Foulke Valentin (had terrible seasons in Milwaukee prior) Fordyce The list could go on, Olivo, Harris and Rowand are very talented, they be fine. And as bad as our pitching is, it's still tops in the division. We'll be fine.

I really would wish they would give the 4th starter job to Cotts and trade Schoenweis to a team, the Yankees, that need a lefty. If Cotts is pitching we need him to be starting. That's the only way he'll improve as a starting pitcher. We did this with Garland, put him in the bullpen for most of the year (although he got 16 starts.) I don't think he ever recovered and his numbers fell. If Cotts is in the majors, he should be starting. He and Honel are the future Sox starters with Buehrle, they should be starting whereever they start the season.
-
He is 5 for 9 so far this spring. Maybe it's just him being a little rusty on reading pitchers this spring, but anyway a little concered. However, I love how he is hitting this spring.
-
The only way to trade Wunsch would be if he were packaged with another pitcher and maybe a prospect for a solid starter: Washburn or Ortiz. I wouldn't mind bringing Munoz aboard because he is essentially a Kelly Wunsch against lefties. I think in AAA they only hit .130 off him. I am not saying we should trade Wunsch, but if we could get a solid starter, I think we need to. Our rotation, although still the best in the division, is poor in comparison to the rest of the league. Kenny will get a good 4th starter, because he always finds ways to improve the team on paper that is.

nice site, I gotta think, us Sox fans are spoiled by this all. I don't think any other team's fans have this kind of comprehensive network of White Sox information. Great Job to all who have work hard on soxtalk, futuresox and whitesoxcentral

He may be experiencing the typical dead arm towards the end of Spring Training. Tim Hudson was rocked today as well, but it's just the dead arm. I expect him to be ready April 5th, when he is in the bottom of the 9th protecting a 9-3 White Sox lead; just getting a little work in because of the off-day Tuesday.

I have been to the obvious Chicagobears.com and CBFans.com, I like the second one, but other than that I can't really get good Bears stuff. Anybody know some good Bears sites--more fan message board stuff like Soxtalk--Thanks

says on Yahoo that Sanders gave up the homer, not Cotts. Maybe a typo there, but I hope not.
