  1. The Expos are cost cutting and for some reason Sporting News said they are trying to get rid of Biddle. Instead of getting Vic Darensbourg, trade a Dave Sanders and a Casey Rogoski or another prospect to get him back. Depending on his Spring Training performance, he could be good starting again or could be valuable as a set-up man or in long relief. He could be used in various ways, which is why I like him and he is a cheap money guy and good in the clubhouse. Also, who could forget his little rally caps he makes in the dugout. When he is on, his stuff baffles hitters. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?statsId=6552 (very solid with the Sox in 2002)
  2. Reed will be starting or in AAA. He won't ride the bench getting starts here and there, he will either be on the Sox in center starting or in AAA lighting up the box scores.
  3. Call me crazy, but I think Shoenweis will do good starting. Hw'll be I think like an Esteban Loiaza. Granted not Loiaza's numbers from last year, but to the tune of 15-10 with a 4.15 era. I think he could do real well starting.
  4. in 1997 thge Marlins had a huge payroll because they paid evrybody for one year and then traded them. Their payroll that year was top 10, however in 2003 they had a normal payroll, it was at $68 million with all thier acquisitions.
  5. you didn't hear, somebody at the AP accidently released their sports roledex of phone numbers. Supposeively, there were names of all sorts of sports figures: players, owners, annoucers, former players and more. It was a list with all their phone numbers and I heard that Reinsdorf's was on there. That's all it was.
  6. Somebody should give him a call if they received the AP sports rolexdex with all the telephone numbers.
  7. Face it, the Sox will not win a world series till we have at least a $70 million payroll. It's the simple truth. Even if the MLB had a salary cap the Sox would be below it, the cap would be $90 million and that still leaves the Sox with $30 million they wouldn't spend.
  8. We need a new owner that will spend money. How can we compete when teams are doubling us in salary, we are at about $60 million, while the Red Sox are at $120 million and other teams around there or at $100 million. We can't keep our good players because we have no money to sign them with. We need a new owner. Reinsdorf I hope you read this cause you suck. You are the Worst owner in the history of Chicago sports (yeah Wirtz is above you)
  9. great, thanks for quick fix, look forward to reading the articles.
  10. This baseballfans.net, I can't get to some of the info, how do you get some of the stuff or how do you register at baseballfans.net?
  11. the rumor, anybody know anything about him?
  12. yeah, I also agree, but having fun is what counts now that this is all we can get excited about.
  13. "Otis" posted: "Sorry to get your hopes up too much. Forgive me because I misunderstood the deal earlier about the prospects which could alter your take on the trade The basic deal is Magglio/Valentine for Nomar/Williamson/Nixon. The White Sox would be trading away the top prospect if they can get Nomar to sign an extension. If Nomar decides that he wants to test free agency then the deal would still be made with the Red Sox getting a mid level prospect. Either way, the prospect the White Sox will trade will be a pitcher. Supposedly it could be anyone but Honel. The minor leaguer the Red Sox would trade would be a low level prospect. Red Sox brass is having a tough time parting with Trot Nixon and would prefer to move Johnny Damon but the White Sox can not take on his salary unless they move Konerko which doesn't look like it will happen. Sorry for confusion. Your pal Otis." Don't know about you, but I still like the deal if the top prospect isn't Reed, Honel or Wing. Honestly, I could give Cotts up, he seems like a average major leaguer with his control issues. I think Honel has more upside, even if the minor league numbers don't say that. After thinking about this for a while either Otis is doing a great job or fooling us with his realistic deal talk about prospects or he is for real with a source in the Red Sox organization. Anyway, it at least makes me excited for the next two days or how long till we know it's fake or real.
  14. He will go easily I think because of his stats. He had a bad image, but never did anything bad to the game of baseball. No steroids, cork, rape, sexual assault and such, he has a bad press image, but he isn't a bad person. Also, his stats are amazing until he was injured. Until 1997, he was on his way to being one of the best baseball players ever with Ruth, Mays and Williams.
  15. Nobody wants Konerko, hopefully he comes back with a great year.
  16. If this deal goes down the Sox will win the division, they have to. This would have to much talent to fail. They would be legs up, the best team in the division in all aspects of baseball. They would have a better offense, better starters and relivers. Hope this goes down, although I give a 10% chance of it happening. But, Kenny Williams always comes up big somehow.
  17. Watch and pray that the injury bug hits the Cubs. Zambrano, Wood and Prior will miss a lot of starts after so much pitching last year. I hate to wish injury upon someone, but if it hurts the Cubs, I am for it.
  18. He said thay Maddux and his agent have turned their focus to Cubs with the Cardinals signing Julian Tavarez. This would suck, because without Maddux I don' think the Cubs are the favorite. However, as much as it pains me to say, the Cubs with Maddux could win it all.
  19. This is the most bogus rumor I have ever heard. There is no way the Bo Sox triggers this deal, you'd have to be crazy to do this if your Epstein. With that said if this were to somehow go down, there should be a statue of Kenny Williams at the Cell. It also mention how it's contigent on a Nomah contract extension, never going to happen.
  20. Carlos Guillen to the Detroit Tigers for Ramon Santiago and minor league shortstop Juan Gonzalez. Actually, another good move for Detroit as they will have a pretty good double play combo with Vina at 2nd and Guillen at short. Hate to say it, but if last year's Sox team lost to Detroit 8 times; then, this year's Sox team against this year's Detroit team could be embarrising. However, the Sox are still better, but will end up playing down to bottom teams levels like last year.
  21. Yeah, I heard this and I heard Mo is doubtful to play for 2005, too. The Mets will most likely due him $16 million more for his contract. $14 million for 2004 and a $2 million buyout for 2005. I am assuming they will buy him out rather than paying in 2005.
  22. If-which is a big if-Koch is healthy and regains his fastball, the Sox will have a pretty good bullpen. CL-Koch SU-Marte SU-Politte Lefty Spec.-Wunsch 2 spots left, Any two of these guys Wright Diaz Shoenweis (if he doesn't start) Wing (probably too young) Cotts (hopefully not, he needs to be in AAA for a year) Rauch (could fit well as 5th in rotation or long relief) Santiago (I like him here) Jason Grilli (he could be very valuable) Fransisco Campos (10-2 witu 2.12 or something ERA, longshot though) Or even more Minor League Free Agents' What do you guys think?
  23. The Sox are close to signinig Cliff Politte to a one year deal. We knew this, but it had yet to be confirmed in the paper.
  24. Not only would that be a great rotation, but we'd probably sign Mr. Viagra to replace konerko. How bout a line-up of: 1. Harris (2B) 2. Lee (LF) 3. Magglio (RF)-Guillen said Maggs would bat 3rd 4. Thomas (DH) 5. Palmeiro (1B) 6. Valentin (SS) 7. Crede (3b) 8. Rowand/Reed (CF) if Reed is there he'll lead off and Harris would be here or 9th 9. Olivo © That could definately rival the new look Royals if not be better But for now it's speculation, just like what we were posting with Nomar at Short or Mota setting up.
