  1. All I know is that its a 2-year deal, not sure about the money, so one team off the list of suitors.
  2. There is a worn down pitchers market this year and a guy with a better ERA, miguel Batista only is making 3.5 million. Just the market I guess
  3. yeah, his price tag would around 4-5 million and god knows the sox can't even offer arbitration in hopes of signing Carl Everett for 3 million.
  4. My hope is that Gammons shuts the hell up about his baseball "insight" all he cares about are the Yankees and Red Sox, he plain sucks.
  5. It's all about the players mind, if he wants to get better or be a stiff and do nothing. Most these players besides your upper 15 % of ball players. It's the players tenacity and will to get better which separates the othe 85 % (Eckstein)
  6. Why do we want Hariston, he makes $300 million according to his player page on ESPN. Other than that, he would be a great leadoff hitter, from Naperville and dad works in Sox orgainzation, I think a A manager.
  7. IF ESPN used the Akron Bacon (or whatever it is) as a rumor source it is usually true. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5984
  8. Magglio for Odalis Perez, Edwin Jackson, Guilermo Mota and either James Loney, Greg Miller or Franklin Guitierez (all top four prospects). This deal would save the Sox some money to spend elsewere, Ponson, Todd Walker, other relivers and it would give us some great talent. Any way Kenny can get this done, I hope he does so. http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-sox15.html
  9. A few sources say the Sox are Ponson's number 1 destination and if the Orioles sign Pudge, Tejada and Vlad they will increase payroll 8 million + 9 million + 14 million =29 million No way can they sign Ponson for 6 million, they will be in so much debt they will move to DC
  10. C-Lee and Valentin prbably won't get Garcia and Winn, it owuld have to Maggs and Soriano instead of Winn, but if we deal Maggs we can have enough money to sign Ponson and adress other needs. If these deals happen we'll have a better staff than 2003: Buerhle Loiaza Ponson Garcia Garland WOW
  11. Says Tejada is only 5-9, wow he is small for a shortstop (unless Eckstein counts)
  12. Now that Tejada committed highway robbery for 6-years and $54 million dollars, Jose Valentin becomes more valuable to the Mariners. Now watch for the deal for Garica and Soriano for Maggs and Valentin to occur, since they lost out on Tejada.
  13. They better draft some pitchers and sign all of them, I guess we are rebuilding for the future.
  14. No brand new manager demands a trade of the team's franchise players. That is the easiest way to get fired or be under heat from upper management, by the way did Guillen tell the Sox to trade Marte, Buerhle and Loiaza. The only thing that is true in the article is that the Sox are front runners for Ponson and the Sox are shopping the Maggs, C-Lee and Konerko.
  15. Gammons on Sportscenter just said that Maddux will either sign with San Diego or San Francisco, his other possibilities are St. Loius and Arizona if they can clear payroll. I guess he does want to stay in the NL. That's to bad, well Sidney Ponson here we come.
  16. He would be great, but still I think we'd still need Ponson, Odalis Perez or Freddy Garcia. At this point in his career Maddux is no more than a solid 2 or 3 starter worth 12-15 wins.
  17. Why the hell does Boras have to be everyone's agent, especially all the free agents that the Sox are always after? Man I hate that guy.
  18. Someone on White Sox interactive said the Sox were close to signing Maddux to a 2-year deal. He heard this from someone on the Score who heard it from a sports beat writer in Seattle. Dunno if it's true, but it would be nice and he would fill seats in his quest for 300. Anybody else heard anything about it? All I know he would raise attendance and have a tremendous impact on Garland and Buerhle (who is like a maddux, but from the left side)
  19. Hopefully, he goes to Houston, anything to hurt the Cubs works for me.
  20. oh, darn I though the deal was final. That's just rumors, it might never happen, but anyway getting Jacque out of Minnesota will help. But those Royals keep getting better.
  21. Not true, on my high school radio show we had Bruce Levine and Phil Rogers call in and they both said Thomas won't be in the deal. They said that Konerko might go for Weaver in return, but NOT Thomas
  22. My idea is a little crazy, but I would keep Magglio in cenetr and Lee in Left and if we have enough money (getting Koch and Konerko traded) signing Juan Gonzalez as your rightfielder. This would let Jeremy Reed have another minor league season and the best outfield in the majors. Then, sign Todd Walker as your leadoff hitter, great OBP (but not usual leadoff man), he could swipe close to twenty and with Guillen he'd probably let Lee and Ordonez run wild on the paths. We would be set with a great line-up again, two lefties (Valentin and Walker)
  23. If you are a owner, you have to think fans first. Therefore, spend extra money and get a better team, fans will come. They came during August and September last year becasue of a winning team. Better team=more attendance=more money=Bigger paycheck for JR, why doesn't he see the sense in this?
