  1. I don't remember where, though. So, anyone hear anything?
  2. http://www.baseballamerica.com/online/leag...es/02top10.html Here the link from Baseball America and the report below 8. Willie Harris, 2b/of Age: 23. B-T: L-R. Ht.: 5-9. Wt.: 175. Drafted: Kennesaw State (Ga.), 1999 (24th round). Signed by:Lamar North. Background :A late-round pick who has gone from organizational player to legitimate prospect through strength of will, Harris is the nephew of former big leaguer Ernest Riles. He was born in Cairo, Ga., and became just the second big leaguer from the town–following Jackie Robinson. Strengths :Harris’ biggest strength is his drive, which allows him to play above his tools. He has solid skills and his makeup is off the charts. He’s determined to be a major leaguer and doesn’t get discouraged by setbacks. His speed is a tick above average, allowing him to play second base or center field, and his bat is his best tool. Weaknesses :Harris has just enough pop in his bat to get himself in trouble when he starts swinging from his heels. Because his tools aren’t overwhelming and he’s just 5-foot-9, he’ll have to prove himself every year and at every level. The Future :The Orioles started comparing Harris to Tony Phillips last year, and he continues to fulfill those expectations. He’ll start 2002 in Triple-A and should be in Baltimore by the end of the year. 2001 Club (Class) AVG AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB Bowie (AA) .305 525 83 160 27 4 9 49 46 71 54 Baltimore .125 24 3 3 1 0 0 0 0 7 0 It says here that Willie Harris' speed is a tick above average. HUH?? He is faster than that, what' doesn anybody else think.
  3. Even with the Sox budget concerns, where are the Minor League signings and invites to Spring Training. Even though Loiaza was signed late last January, where are the invites? Some of the best guys that you could sign to Minor League deals (can I say that) are already taken or almost signed. I know Minor League FA don't cost a lot and Loiaza showed us what they could do, but I want to see some more of those signings even if they are Minor League FA. The Indians are doing it with Luther Hackamn, Matt Miller and a couple other guys, these signings would give me some more little bits of hope.
  4. When you look at the current rosters, both teams have about the same offense, maybe the royals have a slight edge. If we don't trade Maggs, it will all come down to konerko's hitting. if he does what he has in the past, the Sox will have a better offense. Also, Crede will need to break out.
  5. I know the Tigers and Indians won't win it, but I listed them anyways, I want to know from all the Sox fans about thier perspective is for 2004.
  6. Loiaza will win at least 15 games this year, he showed all the critics last year that even after the All-Star break he pitched well. he had a 3.84 era and went 10-4, not bad.
  7. KC has the best shot at the divison, but they lack proven pitchers. Sully is good, but overworked and starting to wear. Appier isn't good, MacDougle was exposed late last year and won't be as good. They have a lot of young pithcers and aging vets. nothing really in the middle like a Buerhle, Marte, nonetheless they are still probably going to win the divison with offense like the 2000 White Sox.
  8. PITCHER W-L ERA G GS CG SHO SV IP H R ER HR HB BB SO WP AVG Marte, Damaso 0- 0 0.00 2 0 0 0 0 2.0 1 0 0 0 0 1 2 0 .000 hope he doesn't hurt his arm
  9. I just want to go and experiecne another start of White Sox baseball?
  10. Actually, Melvin Mora told a White Sox scout about Magglio after the Astros took the pass on him, then the Sox gave him a try-out and the rest is history. Mora and Maggs are tight.
  11. That was theminorsfirst.com post, that's all I saw, if it was posted elsewere sorry bout that.
  12. They rate him #1 over Rios, Seizmore and all the rest. http://minorleaguebaseball.com/prospects/?id=1542
  13. probably, or more so hopefully St. Loius, but the Cubs and St. Loius are the two targets. I really don't think San Diego has put themselves in the running and the Sox have no $$$$.
  14. Especially, considering we could have signed Clemens for the same amount of money in I think 1997.
  15. yeah, give Milwaukee two years and a decent payroll and watch out cubbies cause they got some prospects that can hit: Hardy-ss Weeks-2b Fielder-1b Nelson-of Palmisano-c Krynzel-of Hart-3b All of them can hit, just need thier pitching prospects to mature andn hope Ben Sheets can produce and could be in the Marlins mold.
  16. It was: Maggs Schoenweiss Cotts Borchard for Perez Mota Miller D. Roberts I don't like it only because of Cotts, but Miller is a helluva pitcher and I guess I would probably do it if the Dodgers agreed. no souce however, probably just another made up rumor.
  17. Then, Jose would probably go to third, and actually he would probably have less errors at third with Olerud scooping at first.
  18. If this happens then they could move him to second base and Uribe could start at short, giving us great defense up the middle with Olivo throwing to them. Hopefully better defense and the 4 million dollars they save could get us Ponson and we will be fine again.
  19. Just watch for a bounce back year from Koch. A guy who had a 100 MPH just doesn't lose it. Most likely he was a little bit injured last year from almost 100 innings the year before with Oakland. He had prbably a sore arm all year. i expect him to be healthy this year and provide a 5-3, 3.32 era with 37/43 saves, I would take that in a heartbeat. he will regain the heater.
  20. Give us a 70 million dollar budget and then we will talk.
  21. Konerko's pinch hit homer off Guardado in the 9th, how great that was.
  22. Give Crede one year full in the majors as a learning experience. Now this year is his sophomore year and he will need to prove he is the franchise 3rd baseman that he showed in the minors. I expect, .275 25 homers and 75-85 rbis. Plus, great D.
  23. They need to open the paybook, it's plain and simple.
