11-0 and no idea how after the Rowand and Maggs blasts. Give Cotts the job.
-
Well, he has sucked more than anyother Sox so far this Spring. An Era of 13.72 isn't what I want out of our 4th starter and I don't care if it is Spring Training, we need to do something. What should it be?
-
The only two people I think of about a truly disappointing spring is Shingo and Schoenweis. I doubt that Shingo would feel over-confident about his chances given he is a rookie and from Japan. Also, he just doesn't seem to be that kind of person who thinks he's already made the team. So, the only person I think it could be is Shoenweis with his 7.88 era and 24 hits in 16 innings. Maybe Cotts is still at Spring Training because he might be our 2nd lefty starter. Just a thought, but curious to see how this plays out.

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-urb...ports-headlines He states in the article his desire to pitch for the White Sox I think its good that he and Ozzie are tight, maybe he'll pitch for us if he finally figures out there is no money for him. I know the Sox can offer $2 million for an all-star closer like him, we could use as one of our relivers. Who cares that we already have Koch, Politte and Shingo, depth isn't a bad thing.

SoxTalk Rolling Mock Draft (pick #27)
maggsmaggs replied to DBAHO's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Marcus Stubbs (spelling?) the DT from Texas, he is a big gut, and they need help on the D-Line with Smith and Kearse gone. -
I am going with Rauch and Grilli.
-
I would rather get Shawn Andrews (if available) witht the 14th pick, then we would have a great O-line and Gandy can be the guard he is built to be. Then, with the 2nd round pick, I would get the DT from Maryland (Max Starks?) or the DT from Texas (Stubbs?), which ever is available. Any thoughts?
-
seriously, wow that's got to be a blow to ESPN, he was good and they just released him. Why?
-
I knew that he wasn't there and finally decided to ask. I can't stand Reali, could someone please tell what happened to him? Thanks.

The Sox don't need another Erratic thrower ala Danny Wright and Neal Cotts. Of all the things that hurt the Sox last year it was walks. Joaquin Benoit would walk people all day, rather have Jon Rauch who wouldn't walk as many from the fifth spot.

Apparently, the White Sox will release this tomorrow, out 12 months, no Esteban Loiaza story this year. This is bad news

Starting Pitcher Wins Predictions
maggsmaggs replied to hogan873's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Buerhle-18 Loiaza-18 Garland-16 Shoenweis-12 Rauch(my guess for #5)-11 Total-75 wins combined, probably just wishful thinking on my behalf -
The story aired on Sportscenter this morning and that's when Gammons said his speal.
-
He says that the Dodgers will get Greg Maddux, then they will trade a pitcher (Perez) for a proven hitter (Thomas), I like especially if we get Jackson or Miller. This is interesting because Gammons has thought all along that the Cubs will get him, now he doesn't. His basis is that Boras and Hendry hadn't talked in 2 or 3 days.

Cheat, If you read this I'll take a sig. Anything with the Bulls and White Sox would be great. Thanks
-
Cheat, I'll put my name down for one, just whatever you think is cool. Thanks.

I am not good with the pics, so I leave it to everyone else to post them.

Munoz will probably go to AAA for another year because I doubt we'd have 3 lefties in the pen. But if he has a good spring training, he might make, numbers don't lie. Luckily he only 21 or something, so he has time.
-
I got it through Baseball America, which has a free "Prospect Report" with all the the prospects during the regular season and during winter league, it has the main players or top ones that day. It actually is very cool. Also, 4 years $48 million would seem good for Magglio now, hopefully he resigns. Maggs is no Vlad, just a couple million dollars less valuable.
-
He is currently hitting .615 with 4 homers. Maybe a sign of a Magglio reburt in the power numbers.

I think 5 rounds is good, but I am up for anything

I'll take the Chargers, #1 pick. WOOHOO, has anybody taken them?> Any way to remind me when this is all taking place or should I just look for a post?

From another perspective, Christian Guzaman is one of the fastest runners in the league, but he constantly gets thown out and doesn't rack up many SB's. This shows speed doesn't matter, if you can pitch you will be fine. Tim Wakefield can't hit 80 on a gun and he is very good because he moves his pitches especially the knuckler. Shingo has the sinker, slider, change and fastball with movement, that's all he needs to be good. **From now on lets call him Shingo and that's it, just Ichiro** Any chance of Sushi at Comiskey?
-
For pitching you have the select guys who though upper 90's to 100's, they can get away with a stright ball. For the rest of the guys its movement and control that matters. The fact that Shingo throws in a funky motion with lots of movement and good accuracy makes him good. Who cares how fast you throw if you can't throw it for strikes you won't make it. Now we have: CL-Koch (if he gets back to the high 90's) LS-Marte (high 90's and a great slider, which is more like a slurve) RS-Shingo (movement and funky motion) RR-Politte (high 90's and good cahge-up) LR-Wunsch (funky motion with movement) Great pieces for the a great pen, mainly depends on Koch's fastball
