  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 08:50 AM) Q is a good pitcher who is signed for way below market rate for the forseeable future. If someone isn't willing to drastically overpay, there is zero reason to trade him. Agreed, Q is realistically a player who can be on the Sox when they're contending and contribute considering his current contract. It would have to be a hell fo a deal.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 11:30 AM) I don't see how Lowry could be possible now that he is getting 5 years at around 10 or 12 from TOR. I get that talent wise they are a great fit, and that Morey can somehow fit 3 max deals on his team where the Bulls can barely fit one, but that roster can score 130 and give up 200 points a game. Also, if someone signs Parsons to a deal NOW, it severely limits them. Presti, please please please do not accept Lin for no reason. The penalty for the salary floor is essentially nothing. sorry if this has been answered, but can the same salary effect from a s & t with boozer be accomplished with an amniesty?
  3. Multiple sites are saying the long talked about KENTA to wwe will be announced when they're in Japan in July
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 09:12 AM) Just to clarify, the 4 months is a ban on club play, and the 9 match ban is for international matches, which is anywhere from 1-4 more matches in the World Cup, and then 5-8 matches in the 2015 Copa America when does the club ban start, today? So he couldn't play for his club team until 10/26 or does it start when his club season starts?
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 11:00 AM) I was reading an article which basically stated Bosh on the open market isn't getting anywhere near what he is owed, and Wade even less. LeBron opting out first really will make those 2 look like the bad guys if he doesn't return. It's a genius move. well Bosh is due 2 years 42mm, right? I don't see him getting that exactly, but I can see him getting more than 42mm over more than 2 years. For Lebron it literally is zero risk for him to opt out (other than the extreme risk where he injures himself jet-skiing or the like). He can sign with the Heat for exactly what he opted out of, meaning 2 years with another opt out clause next year, so completely makes sense, even if he's 99% staying put.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 10:18 AM) I don't think Bosh opts out. I'm inclined to think that his value has declined significantly due to his reduced role on the Heat. Is he going to get over $20 million a year in FA? That would surprise me at this point. I think one of the reasons he would opt out is there's some talk Heat would trade him, if he opts out they can't. They obviously can't trade a FA and if he re-signs there's a window they can't trade him (begging of next year I think?) It will be interesting to see what Wade and Bosh do though.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 04:45 PM) No Dunn? He owns Kershaw, 8 for 13, 4 homers, 2 doubles, 2.335 OPS. In NL stadium so it would have been sit Jose for 1 more game or Dunn in the OF.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 1, 2014 -> 10:17 PM) He is? I completely disagree with that. Of course he is, just being in the feud does it. I guess I'm over simplifying it but he's in an extended program with the top guy.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 1, 2014 -> 08:57 PM) What I've seen of Cena vs Wyatt, it's been pretty awesome. Than awful finish. Is Cena refusing to lose to another younger guy? Like him or not, Cena is the biggest star in wrestling now. Wyatt is a rookie, while I'm sure there's some examples, it's not common for the top guy to job in that situation. Wyatt is getting a huge bump from this feud. I'm sure this is Vince's choice for business reasons
  10. sometimes it seems people are more concerned about the Sox being #1 in prospect rankings than actually keeping good young players under reasonable salaries.
  11. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ May 29, 2014 -> 04:50 PM) True, but they've been careful to always use that word when talking about the changes they want. Even in the approval they got from the city last year it uses the word expansion. Well yeah, they have smart attorneys, doesn't mean an arbitrator or court of law have to agree with them (unless rooftop owners had to sign off on those plans, I'm not sure what has beend one, etc..). It's not a capital "E" in the contract, that's the sticking point. It can get bogged down in industry norms, etc. I think it should pass, but rooftop owners can make a legit case that a new jumbo-tron is not an expansion since it really doesn't exist now. Also, a factor will likely be what side drafted the contract.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 29, 2014 -> 04:06 PM) Well that screws the rooftoppers. Expansion is not a defined term it appears, as the article mentions, probably leans towards the Cubs, but not a slam dunk. Anyway, rooftop owners are used as a distraction, Cubs have lawsuit budgeted, it's the ridiculous way they financed the team and MLB approved that is going to haunt them.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) That, and he has pitched awfully. be me to it, I just wasn't sure so I checked BBR, yeah, he's been bad this year.
  14. QUOTE (scs787 @ May 2, 2014 -> 04:36 PM) I don't think he's been confirmed, but just like KENTA he had his last match for NJPW a little bit ago so you'd think that should be a telling sign. I can't see KENTA and Devitt, who are incredibly over in japan, leaving NOAH/NJPW for no other reason but to go the the WWE. Devitt is all but confirmed now, seeing many sites saying he's expected in the training center by summers end.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 9, 2014 -> 08:11 AM) http://www.redeyechicago.com/news/redeye-m...YKBy0qFGuHSe.99 Thanks for posting, meltzer had a bad link on his site and was interested.
  16. Sample size is too small for this to be anything but a coincidence in timing that Bernstein gets a topic/article out of. Look at their last 7 day splits, Rizzo has been on fire and Abreu has been struggling outside of 2 HRs. I don't think he could have even thought to write a similar article if it was last week.
  17. QUOTE (scs787 @ May 2, 2014 -> 03:07 PM) I'm not sure that he does.....In the dream situation where he's a "corporate assassin" HHH can do all his talking.....Then after that runs its course make him a Heyman guy....Then after that throw him and english speaking tag partner(if he hasn't already learned some english). Maybe a guy like Prince Devitt. With his talent I'd make it work. Have you read anything on him lately? I heard a little bit back it was a strong possibility he'd be coming to WWE, but never saw if anything was finalized.
  18. A few days stale, but KENTA has left NOAH, no official word, but looks like he'll be coming to WWE. Really interested to see how they handle him.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 03:47 PM) Or he thinks protecting Beckham with Abreu is more important than Semien. that was my thought too, see if Beckham gets better pitches to hit with Eaton on (or if not on, Eaton seeing several pitches with Gordon in the on-deck circle) and Jose lurking
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 08:46 AM) It appears the rooftop owners with a contract with the team, are going to be made to be the bad guys. Again, if getting these boards up takes you from being able to support a $75 million payroll to $150 million or more, and considering what you have to pay lawyers, why wouldn't the Cubs just buy out the rooftops? Even at a pretty premium, they would come out way ahead. I guess Bud thinks contracts only should work one way. I've never been a Bud hater, but he just has no case here. Maybe Ricketts didn't sign the deal with the rooftops, but he certainly knew about it when he bought the team. Yeah, it's really the debt service on the team, it's killing them, MLB and Cubs are trying to find a scapegoat so focus isn't on them for agreeing to and accepting the money structure they did.
  21. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/27019526-41...enue-issue.html Wittenmyer was on 670 about 20 mintues ago discussing above article. It reads bad for the Cubs, and when he expands on it, it sounds worse.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 23, 2014 -> 02:50 PM) Jesus, he didn't die greg. And I have no idea what experts you're talking about, unless they are the self-appointed experts who say his motion is awful or scouts who say "I SEEN GUYS WITH THAT MOTION AND I KNOWS THEY GET HURT AND SALE HE GONNA GET HURT TOO WITH THAT MOTION." Most of those people don't know what to look for. Pitchers get sore and they're taking it easy with him. If he gets hurt, he gets hurt. Throwing overhand or side arm are not natural motions anyways. Or the experts who have said "this guy has awesome mechanics, he'll never get hurt" and pitcher blows his arm out
  23. Leagues that let SPs start in a RP slot because it's what the guy did last year drive me insane. I banished it from one of my leagues, forgot in other one I'm in.
  24. I'm not saying Robin is a great manager, but yesterday has to be on the pitchers. That amount of walks is just flat out unacceptable and really tied Robin's hands. I also had zero issue with him not having a SP go in. Some games you have to eat for the greater good, that ended up being one of them.
  25. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 11:57 AM) Where did you hear about him moving back to Chicago? Was he fired in ATL? http://chicagoradioandmedia.com/news/6483-...ing-wgn-tv-more This article notes he's doing his Sirius show from Chicago... not any details on what happened in Atl though.
