  1. Thank you very much!! Just want to take this time to say how much I enjoy the site and the sense of community!!
  2. Boers and Bernstein were talking about this link on their show today... is just some visual evidence for people to consider.... http://www.detnews.com/2005/tigers/0502/21/tigers-94607.htm
  3. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Feb 20, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) Wow, too bad the Flubs stupidly signed Burnitz. They could have traded for both Urbina and Higginson and filled both their needs. I doubt the Tigers will ask much for both those guys. They mainly just want to dump their salaries. Cubs can still do it, they have the Hollandsworth/DuBois/Harriston platoon in left still, I think White or Higginson will probably be an upgrade
  4. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) Was he ever on? Yeah he was on for about 10 minutes. Was listening in the background at work so can't give a detailed update, but the host basically apologized to him for being one of the people who gave him crap about wanting to play for St. Louis, MB basically said it was his childhood team, and he wants to stay with the Sox and play with them his last season when the Sox don't want him anymore. Then he said how excited he was about the rotation and bull-pen. From what I heard nothing groundbreaking, but MB comes off as a class act as he normally does
  5. I think that this moving is similar to "The Lord of the Rings" where attempts have been made to make it over the years (including a real cheesy looking BBC special that was actually made) but the technology wasn't sufficient to get it done. Now I think they are at the point where they can get it done. I'm looking forawrd to it, haven't read the books in awhile, but they are clever and funny... should be good times
  6. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) Fun lil' game. Caption the pic: Last time I eat at that Mexican place after midnight
  7. QUOTE(rangercal @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) according to this article their was a raid. I guess no pay out. http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/news_story.asp?ID=11...amp;hubName=mlb Yeah, I'm hearing reports that the raid involved a shoot-out, one of the kidnappers was killed
  8. I like Max, but I thought he was better on ATH. To give him some sort of defense, it was probably hard to do the show with the grizzly way his brother was murdered... I'm sure it wasn't his main focus for the last few months
  9. Yeah, isn't it awesome when you work for someone and they treat you like s***, then when you say you're leaving they act suprised and offended
  10. I believe a lot of what Canseco says... He is a scumbag, but I still believe him when I combine what he says with what I've seen with my own eyes. Clemens has always had some rumors following him about enhancement stuff... lots of inuendos and stuff though... Bernstein does it all the time on the Score and I have heard others....
  11. Now Bostondirtdogs.com is saying Nomar is mentioned in the book briefly, but not on the steroid list........ Looks like ESPN 1000 got us all stirred up for nothing
  12. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Feb 11, 2005 -> 02:50 AM) That's just stupid. Why call a press conference and apologize if you can't admit what you did wrong except through leaked grand jury testimony? Baseball already has enough issues that we don't need players like him further tainting its image. only thing I can think of is he had to try and say something before he got in front of those Yankee fans, as of right now he's going to get a lot of money for many years. However, I don't think it's going to help, he's going to get booed like crazy in NY and on the road
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 11, 2005 -> 03:10 AM) From rotoworld: Nomar Garciaparra will be outed as a steroids user in Jose Canseco's book, a source told Boston Dirt Dogs. Claims made my Canseco should hardly be taken as fact, but they are being treated as news. Here's one more name to add to the list. Wow, his name really is going to come out... I bet the Cubs thought they would ditch a lot of these issues when they dumped Sosa, now it's going to be a circus at ST for them
  14. QUOTE(gsoxs1 @ Feb 11, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) Just heard another rumor on Mac, Jurko and Harry. Nomar will be named in the book. Man this book will be a good read. wow, that would be a bombshell to the Cubs... there might be a reason he's been so banged up
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) The comments in the papers the past few days are quotes that Jose and the publisher released. What Mike said was that there are rumors of other players but since the have been no further comments released it's speculation as to who those others might be. Thanks for clearing that up... wasn't sure what is quoted and what's rumors at this point
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 05:53 PM) I'm hearing stories from Cub fans about how Farns. is a mess. Boozing way too much, arrives late, lazy, cancer in the clubhouse, wasn't there for the last game like Sammy, etc. Anyone no more about this? he use to date a waitress at SportsCorner who is my friend's cousin. From what I heard he does enjoy the occasional drink.
  17. Mike Greenberg pointed out something important today on his morning show... that is the paper who is reporting all of this (is it the post or times?) does not have excerpts from the book, so there are no quotes. That is why McGwire's statement said he would wait to review the book.
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) You can not be arrested for negligence, unless it results in a crime. right, it's a tort, that's why McDonald's had to pay the woman (possibly, I've never read the lawsuit)
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) Well.. last time I checked it wasn't against the law to not secure the lid of a coffee cup.. yet McDonald's paid dearly for that mistake. Anyone can sue anyone for anything. To be able to sue, a crime is not in the criteria. of course it is, it's possibly negligence
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Anyone can be sued for anything. It's in a jury's hands to award damages. or in the judges hands to grant a Motion for Summary Judgment
  21. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Steroids don't help pitchers pitch better. Steroids bulk you up, and reduce flexibility. they help recovery time, so a pitcher could use them in the off-season to increase the intensity of their workouts, then cycle off and maintain some of the mass. Also, there's different types of steriods... Winstrall will help cut your look up, but also increase recovery time, which is what a relief pitcher may want
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) Maybe it's just me.. but I have no doubt there's a LOT of fire under that smoke. I believe what Jose's saying a lot more than I doubt it. I agree. I believe most if not all of Canseco's allegations. There never will be a "smoking gun" in these cases. All I can go on is what people say and my own eyes, and for me that's enough to believe many players did performance enhancing drugs. Now, when some of them say "I never did steroids" I technically believe them. A lot of them did HGH.
  23. http://abcnews.go.com/2020/News/story?id=481709 I really hope Jackson is found guilty and taken out of society...
  24. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) Anyone see Paris on SNL this past weekend? Talk about a total 'poser'. She acts like every time she's in front of a camera that it's actually a shoot for like Penthouse. Nothing is ever just a normal expression or movement with her. Her eys, her voice, her body, her walk, it's always SOOOOOO oversexed. Who buys into that crap? me!
  25. I would love to see some of the exact language regarding the DL clauses. Because I'm sure if he's hitting .250 and obviously struggling the Tigers will want to put him on the DL. However, there's no way Maggs and Boras will be OK with that. I see this being a future point of contention if Maggs is a lesser player than he once was.
