OK, I understand... Boy, I miss BrandoFan

Something tells me biased are you!

I'm not one to b**** and complain, and I really appreciate the moderators taking time to do this job, but can we get some control on these boards!!
-
hey, worst case scenario is Sox stand pat with their starting rotation and it's MB, FG, Jose, Wright, Garland.... I'd say they answered the 5th starter question or gave them flexibility to trade Garland... If the money is OK (It would be higher than expected since the FA market inflated some this off-season) I'm down with this move

For Anyone Who Though We Could Sign Benitez...
SoxFan562004 replied to Butter Parque's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Giants are spending some money this offseason, but damn, if I were them I would spend some money on getting a bat to hit around Bonds... Imagine if Bonds had competent, established hitters around him. That's why Alou would be good for them at this point. -
I-Pod is all I want (and to finally graduate law school!!!)

I think if ND doesn't get Butch Davis or Urban Meyer (sp?) this is a horrible move... ND might have to accept they've lost their luster to the young recruits

Anyone who hates Bernstein and Boers....
SoxFan562004 replied to SoxFan562004's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I do listen and think they are really funny at times. The only thing that pisses me off is when they say things with absolutely zero basis, or completely false. -
I tend to listen to Bernstein and Boers on the Score, but I get tired of their smug know it all attitude. They were supporting Bilas saying Derron Williams would be the 10th best guard in the ACC and ragging on their listeners. Then they the CBS.com college basketball analyst on and he totally disagrees with them. It was pretty funny because they were taken completely off guard and stammerred for a little. Then they tried to say "well NBA scouts don't like him" the expert said "I don't believe that, who are you hearing that from?" Bernstein again stumbles, Boers mentions websites, then Bernstein just says "Well, the people I talk to say that." It was priceless, these guys just run their mouths and someone called them out on and they handled it very poorly. Basically they tried to salvage their point by talking about the guards being an NBA prospect

"I know some French... Bite my ass... Pardon my French." Easily one of my favorite lines from those skits

She walked in saying how important she was in getting the new deal, how she negotiated it etc.... but Howard is raking her over the coals. It's really funny, it seems she usually just walks into interviews and uses her good looks to get by, but Howard will tell her how hot she is but then rip on her about how unimportant she really is.

Basically all he said was the Sox won't offer arbitration to Jose, Maggs, and Alomar Jr. Have interest in Todd Walker, but only mentioned Cubs and Seattle when talking about Nomar. Only interesting thing to me was when he said both teams will be active, but Sox will hold off until after arbitration to make deals and signings.... he mentioned them to be active at the winter meetings, which I believe start December 10

Yeah.... I won't by tickets either, but I will "buy" them
-
The SI.com rumors page said that all the teams talking to Wilson (including the Sox) are only looking at him as a backup
-
I'm not 100% sure it would have anything to do with the Yankees wanting to give him up, I'm pretty sure that since Japanese players are often hotly sought after free agents they have the leverage to put in no-trade clauses, especially considering they are often uprooting their families from their home country where they already make a very good living, they want the guarantee of stability. I could be wrong because I haven't heard of these specifically, just heard that that they have the leverage to do so

Knicks "Sweeten" Curry offer
SoxFan562004 replied to Winning Ugly's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
sometimes when negotiations for trades get into the advance stages, or even early stages, teams will let representatives talk to the players agents about long-term deals because they want to have assurance of signing someone for a long-term contract. If they aren't allowed to talk deals wouldn't go thorugh. -
well I think KW and JR are probably happy, it seems like they have a grudge against Boras and this was a way to f*** him over, now there's a team who claims they are looking to add payroll (if you believe the 75m number floating around) who he can't use against other teams.
-
I agree! If Guzman's market totally drops I would be OK with him coming here, but wouldn't be thrilled for the 5m a year. Not signing Vizquel, at least giving him 3 years, was a blessing, let's hope KW can realize this!

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1918811 story basically says Sosa's agent is saying he'll likely be a Cub next year. No one has contacted him about anything (which they obviously would have to due to the no trade clause and other money issues). Also buried in this story is a line saying that the Mets won't commit to 2006, which basically kills any deal that would send him to the Mets
-
The Score played tape of DePodesta, the Dodgers GM, specifically denying any talks with the Cubs
-
I'm pretty sure that after fiascos like the Albert Belle contract that insurance companies are highly reluctant to guarantee these contracts anymore, so I don't see anybody but the Yankees willing to take this big of a risk. Also, what happens if in 5 years there's some form of a salary-cap, then you're stuck with 5 more years of a huge contract under a new salary structure. (not that this is very likely, but you never know) But hey, Boras got the Rangers to outbid themselves by something like 50m with A-Rod, so I wouldn't be suprised if he gets this done
-
Well, that didn't last long in Arizona
SoxFan562004 replied to CSF's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I would be interested in knowing how much of this KW found out last year, and just kept quiet. -
Totally agree with the concept of throwing team names out there by Boras, that's why I don't think this is big news at all
-
Don't think this needs a whole thread, but ESPN Radio 1000 just said on their 2:00 p.m. update that KW is hearing Beltran is interested in the White Sox... again, this is not a real big story, so I'm not starting a thread
-
Boers and Bernstein are actually giving the White Sox a little air time today. They're basically saying that they believe KW actually wants all these top guys (Beltran, RJ, etc...) but doubt that it will actually materialize. But they do say that the White Sox can improve their team greatly by adding what they labeled something like "professional" ball players at reasonable prices such as Koskie, Eli Morrerro (sp?), and even Nomar to play 2b if that rumor is true. Nothing specific about the Hudson rumor, but they do say that the Sox need to get rid of "base cloggers" and Konerko is the most obvious one with the most trade value, even putting Lee at 1st is an option.
