  1. I should add that Ike's wife (she doesn't have a name) is hotter and more ditzier, but she doesn't know her way around the kitchen like Mimi.
  2. I'm just going to go to this one sports bar (Junior's???) that has satelitte. I went there for a Monday night game and they had CSN on as well.
  3. "The costs of the death penalty are greater than the costs of life in prison without parole." I have seen this written the other way around. Could somebody please give me a definitive dollar amount for how much each situation costs?
  4. Cheri O'Teri Mimi, that chick from the magic bullet infomercial
  5. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Uribe's career fielding percentage is .975 Cintron's career fielding percentage is .974 in 2006, Cintron's (SS) fielding % was .973 in 2006, Uribe's (SS) fielding % was .977 in 2005, Cintron's (SS) fielding % was .966 in 2005, Uribe's (SS) fielding % was .977 in 2004, Cintron's (SS) fielding % was .972 in 2004, Uribe's (SS) fielding % was .983 in 2003, Cintron's (SS) fielding % was .979 in 2003, Uribe's (SS) fielding % was .972 so for every 600 fielding chances (approx Juan's amount last year) Alex would have made approximately 2 more errors all season. while at the same time, Alex would have had 23 more hits all season and would have been on base 26 more times than Juan all season. Just how many times do you plan on getting shot down on the FLD% argument?
  6. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That may be true...but there is a split between two teams in Chicago and yet everyone gets behind the Bears. Plus, I think there have been more memorable personalities that have resonated with the Bears fans than almost every other team. Blackhawks are probably second in that category. Am I the only one who read the title? The starter is asking about a particular SPORT, not TEAM. Chicago Baseball = Cubs + White Sox + Cardinals Chicago Football = Bears + Packers
  7. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 07:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I still think the Wade Miller signing was a good one, one of the best ones of that offseason, even if it didn't work out as I had expected. Whats a couple million when you could potentially get a top flight starter Wade Miller was hurt, sucked, and did nothing for the Red Sox with the exception of letting the Sox beat the crap out of themselves at USCF. Better signings that offseason: Millwood, AJ Pierzynski (a little more than Wade,) Jermaine Dye (Twice as much as Wade,) Dustin Hermanson, Todd Jones, Derek Lowe, and Pedro Martinez.
  8. You said the same thing about when the Red Sox signed Matt Mantei, Wade Miller (which a one point you called the best signing during the 2004 offseason,) and Willie Harris. I just hate that expression so much. If I spend $10 on the Mega millions, I could win $100 million!!!! Low risk/high reward. Just to be fair to you, a google search on Soxtalk turned up on the following players: Juan Gonzalez in 2005 Tony Batista in 2006 Octavio Dotel in 2006 Bobby Jenks in 2004 Matt Thornton in 2006 Latroy Hawkins for 2007 Luis Terrero for 2007 Randall Simon in 2004 Matt Mantei in 2005 David Riske trade in 2006 David Aardsma trade in 2006 Ryan Meaux and Eduardo Villacus before 2005 Ramon Ortiz before 2005 Bret Boone after his release from the Twins in 2005! It's a very tired cliche. Why didn't the Red Sox just spend another $2 million to get Gagne. Somebody who actually was in the closer's role?
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 11:44 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The question shouldn't be about the biggest game, it should be about the smallest game. Anyone will show up for a big game, that doesn't prove anything. Put the Sox against Tampa, the Cubs in their usual 5th place against Pittsburgh and the Bears against Arizona and tell me how many people will show up to each, and which one will get the bigger ratings. That tells me which team is bigger in Chicago. We're not arguing teams, we're arguing sports. It's also really not that fair to compare MLB atttendance's to NFL's. If the Sox or Cubs played only 8 home games a year, they sell out. Easily. Look at the coverage the Sox and Cubs get when they play each other. They broadcast 2 hours of BP on comcast now. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 11:49 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Football by nature draws larger crowds because there are fewer games. Bingo. I highly dount the Bears would draw 67K to every home game if there were 81 of them.
  10. I don't recall Ted Washington running a ball back for a TD either. Keith Traylor took it pretty far, but ran out of gas. Was it Ventura's walk off grand slam?
  11. Is it really necessary for the work you guys put into it? *ducks*
  12. QUOTE(juddling @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 02:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In a nutshell.....i was working at a radio station. King was to be a guest of the afternoon jock and i thought it was a phone interview not a walk-in. i was subbing for one of the morning hosts when the morning jock asked "What scares Stephen King???" (He was reading from some newspaper article) and without missing a beat (or knowing King was listening) i said "A good long look in the mirror!!!" We got a big laugh out of that until King called the radio station. We went back and forth for a while. of course i thought it was someone from the station playing a prank building up to his interview later that day. After we went to a commercial, i picked up the phone and he called me every name in the book and killed the interview that afternoon. I caught hell for a few weeks after that one, but i can say i got chewed out on and off the air by one of my favorite writers. That's pretty good. I imagine King was clever enough to say something about you "having a face for radio" or something along those lines. I once used a pick up line like that on a popular Chicago DJ..........and it worked.
  13. Tell the Stephen King story please.
  14. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 1, 2007 -> 07:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Scheduled at the same time? Are the records all the same (say, .500?) Let's say the Sox are playing like they are in 2006, and the cubs are average. Since it's interleague, it'll be a day in June. The Bears and Packers are playing in the third week of the season. ....and Random, don't Cub fans say the say thing about Wrigley Field even if the Cards or Sox aren't there?
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 08:33 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> HA! Who is the last big name free agent to sign in Cleveland? Hell who is the last big pending FA that Cleveland had who stuck around? I wouldn't call him a "big name" free agent, in fact his situation is somewhat similar to Kevin Millwood's.
  16. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jan 1, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> An update from here in Phoenix: It seems like the Johnson Trade is dead. The Yanks and Dbacks agreed on a deal but RJ wants $14 million for 2008. Unless Johnson comes down on his 2008 price he will not be coming to Phoenix. So Randy asks to be traded to a certain team. Then he demands the certain team to give him X amount. Nice guy. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 1, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm no longer doing ^^^ because Santa Dorf specifically said not to. Edit: Wait. I just did. Oh well.

    Dear RockRaines

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 1, 2007 -> 05:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dear Dan PMs are a wonderful thing All of Soxtalk would be a much better place if we could find out who those two girls are and see some more pictures.
  18. Assuming an unlimited capacity, which game has the biggest attendance figure and higher TV ratings; A Bears-Packers game, or a Sox-Cubs game?
  19. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 1, 2007 -> 08:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's done pretty well so far in his career. And the sox could trade him to a few teams in dire need of a closer--Marlins, D-Rays. Acquiring him for extra peices could help save the sox from trading prospects the sox don't want to part with Think we could get Ciristian Guzman tossed in? Your post makes no sense. The Sox are going to trade non-prospects for Cordero only to trade him to other teams for valuable "extra peices?"
  20. QUOTE(gosox41 @ Dec 31, 2006 -> 04:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not sure what he did to piss everyone on the Mets off, but is this someone that's worth dealing with in the clubhouse? There were some bad vibes when he went down the left field line high fiving the fans. Not sure if something else happened though
  21. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 31, 2006 -> 01:44 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Igawa's long been projected to be a middle of the rotation guy I tought it was a 5th starter or long man. I also think Pettitte is going to suck too, except against us because he's lefthanded.

    Drinking poll

I think I'll take it easy with some black russians and a couple of beers, but have ONE glass of Champagne. That stuff kills me when it's mixed with other liquors. Hey what happened to my other bracket?
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 21, 2006 -> 06:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Football and its not even close. I disagree. The average attendance of a Cubs game + the average attendance of a Sox game > average attendance of a Bears game. ...but I still think it's a "football" town.
  24. How long until it appears on somebody's myspace?
  25. 1. Own two Chevys 2. Applied to only one college in my lifetime, UIUC. Finished up with 5 semesters there. 3. Didn't know what I wanted to do after High School. Still wasn't exactly sure after my first three semester. I selected Mechanical engineering just because I didn't like circuits and computer programming 4. My family owns the oldest restaurant in Chicago 5. Sold my World Series game 2 ticket and blew the money on other Sox stuff.
