Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> how many top prospects are you gonna really get for someone that is gonna walk after 1 year... Say how did the Mariners get Freddy Garcia again? I'm not trying to say Freddy = RJ in his prime, but teams do give up multiple prospects for one year rentals. Hell the Astros gave up Garcia, Hullien and Halama for 2 months of RJ. Garcia is a lock to net two draft pick as well if he doesn't come back. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 05:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's more like this ... Rowand, Haigwood, Morse, Olivo, Reed for Thome, Floyd, $$$ and 2.5 years of Garcia and one WS Championship. Actually it's more like: Rowand, Haigwood, Morse, Bradford, Reed for Thome, Floyd, $$$ and 2.5 years of Garcia and one WS Championship -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 09:33 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What the f*** are you talking about? I don't think you made a positive post about Freddy since October 26th, 2005. You wanted him off the team all year, well you got it. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 11:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So if we end up trading Floyd and Gio for Baldelli, how do people feel if it ends up being Garcia for Baldelli? Are they happier than when this original deal went down? And what does that mean for Brian Anderson? Does he get traded to the Rangers for Nick Massett and a SP spect, or to the Marlins possibly for some of their young pitching? Possibilities a plenty. Even worse. His health concerns me and crappy OBP scares me even more. -
Can we get this pinned?

Well you haters got what you wanted. In my opinion it was a mistake to trade Freddy over Garland maybe even Vazquez because his trade value wasn't as high as their's because he only has one year left. -

Friend says Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez. Well at least CWSguy and flash will be happy. -
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 08:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I PMed some people, absolutely. Nothing wrong with asking people for their votes especially people that wouldn't have voted otherwise. I didn't have a problem with it FWIW. Usually I listen to the recorded messages from some random person naming each of my registered voter in my family to vote for a certain party.

QUOTE(shoota @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 07:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So technically I was incorrect in stating Brian Anderson was the better offensive player than Mackowiak in the second half. You didn't say that. You said "a long stretch" in the second half. I can only find one span where Anderson was hitting better than Mack, and that was from August 10th-15th. Both of them were on fire in July, yet Ozzie kept trotting Pods in LF

Should we just wait until he's released?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you don't like it, then don't participate. Have a nice day. YES! I was hoping for this response. I wasn't interested, yet one of the hopefuls spammed me a PM asking me to vote for him or her. I got dragged into it, so I can have an opinion on it. ....and yes I voted for that particular canidate just because I didn't read any of the stances.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> why do people take so seriously whether or not Freddy Garcia is going to be traded to the Phillies for Aaron Rowand and some prospects? it's a distraction and it's mildly amusing to us. Uhhh, because this is a WHITE SOX MESSAGE BOARD??? Who is "us?"

QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 07:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, let's ask ourselves this question.... If Barry Zito were still with the A's, and was a FA after 2007' instead of this year, would you be in favor of a deal sending Joe Crede to the A's for Zito and Jay Payton? You can't trade Joe Crede for two free agents, and ever hear of a guy named "Eric Chavez?" -n00b What is the point in discussing this fictious situation? Are you trying to compare Chavez to Uribe, Young to Crede, Payton to Podsednik and Zito to Buehrle????
-
QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 06:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you suggesting you would rather entertain the notion of Humberto Sanchez for Mark? I don't know about you, but at least this gives us back a quality player in return, at an affordable salary. It also solves our leadoff man quandry, as clears payroll for perhaps another move, maybe even for a deal including a Left fielder. It would be completely pointless to trade a starter and not make a net gain on our current team. The Sox aren't going to pay $4.5 million for Uribe to be a super sub, and Uribe doesn't have much trade value to begin with. Young has a career .335 OBP batting #1, regardless, he hasn't led off in a game since 2004. I will remain skeptical of Young until his consistently improves his road numbers. He had a great 2005, and I wouldn't mind having him over Uribe, but I'm certainly not going to trade Buehrle + another major leaguer (Yes, I know it's Pods) to conduct the experiment.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd really like to know why people voted for certain candidates. I'd really like to know why people are taking this so seriously.
-
QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 05:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why? Because Young is a butcher at short? Because with the exception of one season Young has a drastic split in offensive numbers between home and away? Because Buehrle has more value than that? Because it puts the Sox in a weaker position because we would still have a hole (instead of a semi-hole at the moment) in LF and two SS signed for around the same price?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Linkity. Sad. I thought Piazza might make a decent option for the White Sox as a backup Right handed catcher/DH. I asked you before, but didn't get an answer. If Piazza is the right handed DH, AJ (who is worse than Thome against LHP) catches leaving us weaker in the lineup. God forbid AJ were to go down in the game, Piazza would move from DH and the pitcher would bat.

On paper it looks like an absolute steal for the Bravos, but did Soriano ever come back after the line drive to the head? How will that effect him?
-
Man, is it that time already? Time goes by so fast when you're out of school. I can't believe I've been done for a year now.

Please no Taveras discussion. I imagine these smilies would suffer the same fate as the rolly eye guy.
-
This is probably going to start a big fight, but if one player makes you immediately turn on an entire organization, then you're not a true fan. *ducks* Remember Rodman to the Bulls? I thought AJ would be a huge problem with the Sox because of all the crap he pulled in Minny.

QUOTE(shoota @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 11:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There was a long stretch in the second half when Anderson was the better offensive player than Mack. Surely you remember. Actually I don't. Please tell me when and how long this stretch lasted. To me it looks like you're talking about August 10-15th. Care to back up your silly claim? QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 07:47 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 2003 Carl Everett in CF cost the Sox just as much as Mackowiak defensively. . I don't know why people keep saying this. The only thing I remember about Everett in CF was a game-saving HR robbing catch in a Buehrle-Mulder matchup at home in August.

QUOTE(ChiSox9 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Sox only pay Approx $7.2 M for Thome? Yeah. The Phills got jobbed in that trade. Yes they needed to get Howard in there, but Thome was worth more. Especially if you're going to pay for half of his contract.
