[hangar18] SIGH.......the SOX are cutting payroll again [/hangar18] QUOTE(TheOcho @ Dec 16, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Going to miss Gload, but like other's have said. Hopefully he'll have the chance to finally be a starter and show what he's got. Unless Sweeney is hurt, which he probably is or soon will be, Gload is going to be a bench player again. I wasn't always a fan of Sisco because even in 2005 he still had a WHIP of 1.46, and it's not like he ever dominated lefties. I think the Royals were trying to stretch him out as a starter too. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Dec 16, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I could have sworn Allan Baird got fired last year, but this and the Meche signing make me believe Moore is a robot controlled by Baird from somewhere in the US. What a stupid, stupid trade for the Royals. Looks like Moore is trying to rid himself of all of Baird's signing and players. How does Gload fit for the Royals?

Little testy for you? As for this decision, this goes against the Constitution and our freedom, something the terrorists HATE about America. Therefore if you support this decision, you're kissing the terrorists' asses. Using this narrow logic makes so much sense!

QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe its because we have too many bleeding heart liberals on the bench ... people like that jerk in Vermont that gave a child rapist probation. Are you sure you aren't talking about that Republican Missouri Judge? Why must your viewpoint always be in black and white?

QUOTE(NUKE @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Looking at that pic that looked like the band camp chick. Who is this then? The Gossiper. I could be nuts, but wasn't this girl on her death bed or one of the Actresses from the American Pie movies die?

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Uh, is this your own personal assessment of the greatest teams or a list compiled from a baseball website? It would seem strange you'd mention the Cincinnati Reds as a biased selection, however, I don't know many people outside Chicago who would label the 2005 White Sox as the best team of ALL TIME. Peter Gammons called them one of the best teams of the past 30 years right after they won it. Only two teams in baseball history have won wire to wire, had the most victories in their league and also swept the World Series: the 1927 Yankees and the 2005 White Sox.

QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 09:57 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> so the next day will involve memorizing about 100 greek/roman gods and what their story was, only to forget it a few hours after the test. college is so useful I never understood why I was forced to take a non-Western and a Western Civilization in order when it will not help me in my career and add nothing to my degree. I wish those two classes could have been replaced with technical electives..................but I still would have taken some easy IE classes.

That trade is WAY one sided. Come on.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 09:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know a lot of people have their hopes and ideas for backup catchers, but with AJ catching 120-130 games a year, what quality catcher is going to WANT to come here? Perhaps a guy that has been a career backup and is being pushed out by his organization?

IIRC there was a story in SI with him talking about going to Old Comiskey chanting "HAAARRRROOOOLLLLLLDDDDD," but like it was previously mentioned, the Sox were rumored to always be on his no trade clause.

R&W, I wasn't comparing the Red Sox to the Sox (I just tried to put it in perspective how bad Mirabelli was and the fact Red Sox gave up talent and cash in a desperation move,) so your entire post is flawed just for the viewpoint you took. You compare Lowell to Crede, Pena and Crisp to a rookie Brian Anderson, Varitek to Konerko just because they are both captains, and Cora to Ozuna. To top it off you try and make it personal, and play the typical "Me vs. Soxtalk" act. Grow up already, or quit being such a whiny homer. You're supposed to be a fan of both pairs of Sox, but I haven't seen it since the Red Sox won the World Series. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 02:32 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I hate Red Sox oriented threads. It's always the same thing. I say cut the head off the snake.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How many wins will Gil Meche have for KC this season? Is he any better than Redman in the big scheme of things? p.s. It's not fair to give the answer: "Who gives a bleep." Or "Take this to another message board." Who cares about wins? -

I know this is off topic, but I make reference to the Duke case during this particular argument. People who are against abortion say they only favor in the cases of rape and incest. If the government takes away a woman's choice to choose, how many innocent men would be victims of false rape charges?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 05:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mirabelli is a Free Agent. Doug Mirabelli will remain with the Red Sox on a one-year contract, the Boston Herald reports. He's certainly a better choice than Sandy Alomar Jr., Alberto Castillo and some of the other names that have been kicked around. With Mirabelli back, the Red Sox will use the same arrangement they have in past year, with Jason Varitek catching everyone except Tim Wakefield. Source: Boston Herald So where does this one fall? In between 2 and 3, or 1 and 2?

QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And what does this have to do with anything? R&W was baiting, and I took it. He claims the Red Sox have made the best 3 moves based on money and team needs. They gave $70 million to a career NL player with a questionable attitude. I like JD Drew however. Crisp sucked in CF last year, and the Red Sox don't have a true 4th OF. You think Mack was bad in CF, watch Pena. Their catchers are overpaid, Mirabelli was arguably as bad as Widger last year, but at least the Sox didn't give up Bard and a reliever with an ERA around 1. Speaking of relievers, how's that Boston bullpen? Foulke is gone, Timlin is back, Pine Tar hat is still there (but he was better as a starter,) and they are taking out their phenom closer to put him in a rotation that includes an aging Curt Schilling, overrated Josh Beckett (and he's not very good,) a knuckleballer with back problems, Jon Lester, Matt Clement (making around $10 million) and now they are gambling $100 million by throwing a Japanese starter in the mix. Their third base situation is a joke with an overpaid (typical Boston) Mike Lowell who was bad after May last year, and Hinske is listed at as an outfielder on their team depth chart. Ah yes, but bar none, The Red Sox have made the TOP THREE moves this offseason when you consider the holes they have. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 01:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'll be laughed at but the Red Sox made the three best signings of the offseason, without question in my opinion. Based on money, team needs, etc. Yes you will be laughed at. Your team has a bunch of overpaid players (Both Catchers, 3B, SP, RP possibly Drew and "D-Mat") and still has "team needs." Third base, backup catcher and infielder (Cora sucks,) true 4th OF, middle relief pitching, possibly starting pitching, a gaping hole in the closer's role, and most important, THE ACCOUNTING OFFICE.

Wow. If an injured Freddy Garcia can put up better or similar numbers to a "young stud" like Jon Garland, why did we trade him? -
