The Continuing Rise of Jose Contreras
I love how Yankee fans try to jusitfy the trade as a "salary dump." Since when have the Yankees gave two s***s about payroll? Hell, Joe Sheehan (beloved by some on this site :headshake ) bashed the trade and said "you remember that money when the Yankees sign someone good this offseason." You mean Carl Pavano? Jaret Wright? Or was it Tony Womack? :rolly

Worst Professional Sports Franchise
QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 08:25 AM) I agree, but if you put a new team w/ an owner who is more open to the fans, then you might get more interest. I have no interest in hockey, b/c it's never on TV. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have zero interest in hockey as well, but the fact is the MLS draws better than the NHL. Chicago should get a second soccer team before a second NHL team.

Anderson's strikeout totals are alarming
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) I doubt that, but even if they want to move him, they'll get a better offer than some generic midlevel prospect. Even if they loathe the guy, they're not that stupid. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What if we threw in a 12 pack and a designated driver for Bowden?

AL Central Central
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) How the hell can Johnson injure himself sitting on the bench? LOL, this is becoming absurd. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Must have eaten one of CC's chocolate Easter Bunnies.

BP's "Top 50"--Where's Buehrle?
If you subscribe to BP, you are either a sucker, or you like to waste money. Think about how much better that money could be spent on Sox s***.

Worst Professional Sports Franchise
QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:11 PM) The NHL should consider a second franchise in Chicago. Maybe that'll get some interest in hockey in the nation's 3rd-largest market <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you kidding me? Hockey is dead in this town, and the NHL should be looking at contraction, not relocation or expansion.

Greg Maddux
I love it when Cub fans get such a great chuckle from "Who's Mark Buehrle" because Mark called out Maddux by name and said he threw a spitball. He was egged on by that loser Blackhawks phony Jesse Rodgers and someone else (Ofman?) into giving them a name, and he said "you hear stuff around the league about a guy on the north side with a lot of success who has a lot of movement on his pitches." Of course Maddux took the Barry Bonds route of not denying any accusations (remember "who's Ron Kittle?) and came back with the lame "Who's (fill in the blank.)" Who is Mark Buehrle? All-Star game starter and winner, ace of the World Champions' staff, and he even recorded the save in the longest World Series game in MLB history. Who was Greg Maddux? That one Braves pitcher right?

Game Thread - 04/15 Buehrle vs. Burnett
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) Um....he did basically give us 2 runs. That Thome pitch was a very bad call....but I'll take it! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Using that same logic Mr. Peesimist Iguchi should''ve been on base, not Thome.

Start of our Home Stand on a good Note
QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) great post, I can't wait for Vasquez's home debut tonight...though I highly doubt we'll get anywhere close to a sell-out, its gonna be a beautiful night for baseball. I like Vaz (spelled it right there) to go 6 2/3, 3 ER, 6k, 2 BB. Pods will get 2 hits tonight. Mark it. White SOX WINNER. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> :banghead Although he has had some bad numbers against the Blow Jobs in his career, I think he will be electric tonight only giving up a solo homer to Troy Glaus. 7 2/3, 7 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K's :puke

Player Comparison Game
QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) This is most definitely an opinion. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What do you think this is, a public forum where people are allowed to discuss their opinions? It's quite bold to say the "Sox wouldn't have won the World Series last season without player X" even if player Y is better.

Liriano
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 02:04 PM) Why they keep Loshe in the rotation is beyond me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Considring the way they spend money, why they even bothered tendering him a contract is beyond me.

AL Central Central
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 09:25 PM) Their bpen hasn't been very impressive as of yet. Mota impressed the hell out of me that game against us but hasn't looked that good since. Their bpen is what helped them go nuts last year, I just don't see it being very good this year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He was able to pitch out of his own jams that he created. He could be the right handed version of Damaso Marte 2005. (0.00 ERA, 1.80 WHIP)

Anybody know much about this MP3 player?
Now I'm thinking about getting a nano, but I recall people arguing how hard it is to upload music onto it. How easy is it for me to upload mp3's from my computer that I downloaded from a file sharing program? Can somebody please explain what MP3 VBR is?

So does this mean Comedy Central won't show the "Super Best Friends" episode where Mohammed teams up with Jesus and Seaman?

Jon Garland
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) Garland's lack of K's suggest that he's not nearly as good of a pitcher as his ERA and WHIP suggested last season. Simply put, a lot of balls get put into play when he pitches. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ever hear of "pitching to your defense?" Even the best strikeout pitchers put the ball in play 2/3's of the time. :rolly

Anybody know much about this MP3 player?
It's the world's smallest mp3 player, and I need a new one after dropping my zen last night. I'm having a hard time finding reviews on it.

AL Central Central
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) Byrd isn't going to be a problem. The last four seasons he's put up ERA+' of 109, 132, 110, 112. He was actually, IMO, one of the better starting pitcher signings this offseason -- the deal was something like 2 year, $12 million, right? That's pretty good for a slightly above average pitcher. I don't know how injury prone he is with that new motion and less velocity he's throwing with, but if he's healthy, he certainly won't be the one on the staff that'll hurt you. And, Johnson will be the weak link, but he probably won't be bad enough to get replaced. I mean, I doubt Shapiro was expecting a whole lot when he signed Johnson, other than a guy to give the Tribe 190 innings at the back of the rotation, with an ERA around 4.60. He's probably just a very tiny bit better than their fifth starter of last year, Scott Elarton. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Byrd has never, NEVER made back to back 30 start seasons in his career. Last year he made 31 starts, so he has already pissed away two of his 24 (guessing) 2006 starts. I went over this before, Johnson f***ing sucks and Elarton was better than him. Johnson had a road era of 6.66 last season.
