QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 07:52 AM) Since this is not really a Sox issue, I'm putting this in here. William Ligue sentenced to 5 years <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Too bad you're not a Tibune editor.

How many games will the sox win this year?
santo=dorf replied to POPPY_HIDALGO's topic in Pale Hose Talk
174. The All-Star game will feature only Sox players in the game due to Guillen being the manager, and the NL being such a s***ty league. -
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 10:19 AM) I honestly think that people are too focused on the one big error in the Cubs game in '04 (or was it '03?). But then, I also must admit I have not seen him play all that often, so I have to mostly go by stats, which are sometimes deceiving (and he doesn't have much time in at the MLB level). His stats don't seem to scream particularly good or bad to me - the ones I could find. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Michael J. Fox would be less shaky in the OF than Ross Gload. He was a butcher in BOTH Cubs-Sox series back in 2004. Gload has shown he can hit major league level pitching. Borchard has shown he can hit a ball far and sign big contracts.

What a lame ass title for an article. Stick to Pepsi machines Borchy.

I prefer BWW Chicken Strips over their wings, and I almost always get the Hot sauce. I tried the blazin' before, and of course it was f***ing hot, but it didn't have a good taste to it which made it difficult to handle them. Back at school my roommates and I used to always get Joe's Brewery's wings.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) It's amazing that a 300 plus win, 4,000 plus strikeout, 40 year old plus legendary pitcher has to be such an indecisive attention whore. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I blame it more on ESPN's obsession with ex-yankees AND ex-Red Sox players.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Well. We don't know that. Somebody missed a sign, whether it was AJ or Ozuna. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ozuna swung at a pitch that was 5 feet off the plate and 6 feet below sea level. It was a hit and run.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) Memo to A.J., NEVER attempt to steal in your life again. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was a hit and run.

Gload goes deep. 3-2

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) Score? Update? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sox leave them loaded. Still 3-1. At least we improved our team OBP that inning.

Was an infield fly called on that? He may have been able to turn a double play if he let it drop.

Brandon needs a haircut. Nice K

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) I agree that Ozuna's only useful attribute to us is his speed. And I don't think we should underestimate that. With the exception of Pods, our lineup is filled with guys with decent to below-average speed. If he's kept on the team simply to steal a base in the late innings, I think he warrants a spot. Just adds another dimension to the bench. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ozuna's speed was a huge part of Game 2 of the ALCS. Plus he had some decent at-bats against Johan last year as well.

QUOTE(shoeless_joe21 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) Haha, I'm glad to see that other people are pissed off by little grammatical errors like that. I was starting to feel like I was the only one. I think the one that gets to me the most is when people say "rediculous" instead of "ridiculous." This one's getting out of control. A couple weeks ago, I even saw it printed in the headline of a front page article in my local newspaper. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Your not alone.

White Sox Acquire Infielder Alex Cintron
santo=dorf replied to OfficerKarkovice's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sigh, R&W ruins antoher thread. How is a Red Sox fan going to tell us $1.6 million for Alex Cintron is too much? $3 million for Alex Gonzalez to stink it up everyday. $1.4 million for Alex Cora $2.05 million fo Tony G. $3.75 million for Mark Loretta. :rolly -

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) Yea, a career OPS+ of 85. Another "eh" trade. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What's Baj's ERA+ ? Could any resident stathead, or BP Subscriber PLEASE tell me what is the point in looking at OPS or OPS+ for smaller frame baseball players whose roles are NOT to to hit hit home runs? -
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) He did -- Troy Glaus. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When was this ever mentioned?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) Colon couldn't have won them 3 more games. And the Sox lost Ervin Santana's start in place of Colon, IIRC. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sox lost to Paul Pyrd.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) Why not? Isn't that pretty much what the Sox did? Get some guys on base and wait/hope for the longball? Other than the clinching game of the World Series, I think the Sox were aided by a homer in all of the playoff games. You're right about base-cloggers, though. Ick. Look at his team in 2000 -- Ben Grieve, Matt Stairs, the Giambi brothers, Ramon Hernandez -- wouldn't Ozzie just love that team? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why not? You're big into the numbers. Do you honestly expect a great pitcher with a WHIP in the .9-1.1 range will walk two batters and give up a base hit in the same inning when it all matters? How about game 2 of the ALCS? What would've happened if Ramon Hernandez struckout on a drop third strike? ....and this isn't just about hitting home runs. Every team does that. I'm talking about trying to win a game by having one big inning. The Sox's pitching staff won almost all of the games in the playoff last year. The solo home runs were not the deciding factor.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 03:43 AM) I don't know how much of the 'no-playoff-series' wins thing is Beane's fault, though. From 2000-2003, the A's made the playoffs every year and were knocked out every year in the first round. In all four of these series', the A's lost game five to lose the series. They've lost these four Game-5 games by a combined total of six runs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> :rolly It's his team he put together. What do you expect to happen when you build a team around base-glogging, and are not willing to give up an out to get a runner closer to scoring position? You can't go into a playoff series hoping to get a couple of walks, and then a double in the inning when facing, Pedro, Contreras, Buehrle, Santana, and other high quality starters.
