  1. 2. Liberals believe individuals should be tolerant and respectful of difference. It is liberals who have supported and continue to support the civil rights movement, affirmative action, the Equal Rights Amendment and the rights of gays and lesbians. (Note that a conflict between propositions 1 and 2 leads to divisions among liberals on issues like pornography and hate speech.) I laughed out loud at this one. Tolerant and respectful of difference? They should take their own f***ing advice. Every time someone dares to have a view that, in any way, diverges from their own Liberals label them as "idiots" or "stupid" or "rednecks" or "religous extremists" or whatever is the demeaning flavor of the day. Complete and total hypocrasy.
  2. People who thought they were getting over on the system and getting themselves into houses they really couldnt afford are about to really get it. How much does anyone want to bet me that Lou Dobbs or some other idiot will get on TV and somehow blame the President for this and start another class-warfare cry-fest. Score another point for living within your means.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 10, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) I harbor no delusions about getting government aid when I retire. I don't expect a dime to be around by then. Me neither. The social security system is little more than a Ponzi scam that is doomed to fail. Young people these days who think there's gonna be a SS saftey net to save them are going to be in for a rude shock when they get old and grey. My advice to anyone who has the means is to start saving now.
  4. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) Uh...Eagle Forum, Promise Keepers, laws telling women what they can and can't do with their bodies here or denying a vaccine to a disease that afflicts women because it would violate their religious fundamentalist code to allow it to be used -- much? Again, it's all about fundamentalism much more than it is about a specific religion. You're comparing the views of radical extremist groups with state-sanctioned policies of most muslim nations. Apples meet Oranges.
  5. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) Nuke, did you link to the article "Cigar Industry Heating Up Again"? Because that's the article that comes up when you click that link. You're not trying to pull a fast one on us libs, are you? Sorry about the wrong link. This one has the same info. http://fullcoverage.yahoo.com/s/ap/2006100.../budget_deficit
  6. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 01:28 AM) Nuke, help me out here. In rangercal's sig, he's got a Frank Thomas fanclub. IIRC, you're part of that club. What has Frank done to make you hate him so much? And I'll barf if you say it's because of what happened between him and Kenny back in March. Sarcasm my friend. Sarcasm. I started to hate Thomas ever since he started whining about money a few years ago.......then he didn't show up for the 2000 playoffs, ( maybe he was asking for more money so he could get himself a new pair of Oakleys since he was whining about having the sun in his eyes during the Seattle series ), then, oh yeah, there was his deal with KW. I laughed SO HARD when KW gave him that little sendoff earlier this season.
  7. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) I just lost a little respect for Detroit when the started playing "Whoomp there it is!" when the score rose to 6-0. No. I gained a TON of respect for Detroit when they did that. Anything to rub it in their faces just a little more. Hell, Id even sanction them using "NA NA NA NA HEYYYYY HEYYYYYYYY GOOOD BYE!!" to send them on their way to the golf course in Florida.
  8. GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!! GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!! For the following reasons. 1. They silenced the Eastern Seaboard Promotion Network by laying the smacketh downeth on the Spankees and for that I owe them a debt of gratitude. 2. The only ex-sox player I despise more than f**glio is the big skirt. Lets see if Skirt complains about having the sun in his eyes (remember the 2000 playoffs? ) when he gets shut down by Detroits pitching staff. Again..............GO TIGERS!!!!
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) How could the Yankees lose?? ESPN told me they have the greatest lineup ever, yet 4 and out?? HAHAHA, ESPN must resort to rooting for the Mets, they are all the channel has left as hope. I would laugh SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hard if the Mets get knocked off ( which I think is totally possible ) . It would make the Series worth watching again simply to laugh at the Eastern Seaboard Propoganda Network as they lament the demise of the NY teams for the second season in a row.
  10. QUOTE(Reddy @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) wait wait wait... what was that thing back in the day? oh right, the crusades! death to the infidel and all that jazz... yeah ok cool i see what you're saying now, Christians just use scorn. they dont kill at all! i must have been confused. The Crusades?! How is something that happened hundreds of years ago relevant to what is going on today? The answer? Its VERY relevant. It proves that Christians have become civilized over time wheras Muslims have not. I love how you people point out abortion clinic bombings but seriously, when was the last one? How many have there even been over the years? As much as you point to that as an example of "christian savagery" the fact remains that abortion clinic attacks are extremely rare. Muslims, on the other hand, well look no further than Iraq. They're blowing up innocent people at the rate of 2 or 3 dozen EVERY DAY. That not enough for you? How bout Amenenawhosits over in Iran calling for Isreal to be wiped from the map and developing the nukes to do it with? Not to mention the fact that he provoked the recent war with Isreal through their Hezbollah arm. Oh, then theres that Osama guy, remember him? Christians used violence to further their aims centuries ago. Muslims are using it to further their aims.....TODAY and with far deadlier weapons. Religon of peace my ass. I guess I need to read the Koran further and find where it defines peaceful acts as mob action, abuse of women, violence, murder and terrorism. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 05:38 PM) With the exception of the IRA crap, those don't even compare to the Islamofascists that are around today. Crusades? Get into this decade, or even century. Christianity evolved. Sure, they might boycot Disney, but they don't chop off Mickey's head just because he doesn't pray to Allah. While some Christian groups may want to keep gays at bay, they don't kill them, like the Isamofascists would do. While some Christians have a problem with too much female skin, the Isamofascists have a problem with ANY female skin. Many Muslims here in the states have joined this century, but many over in the middle east are still stuck in a time warp. You just gotta love how islamofascist countries treat their women..........like total dogs*** that is. You have to love how people jump up and down to defend a religon that doesn't allow women any rights, sanctions rape, murder, polygamy and a host of other abuses and indignities. Religon of peace indeed....................just so long as you dont happen to be a woman.
  11. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 04:24 PM) Nancy Pelosi has outlined the first 100 hours of the Democratic Congress as she would see it. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061006/ap_on_...e/pelosi_time_1 I agree with everything but the minimum wage part. Some specifics on the lobbying thing would be nice though. Also, Pelosi's pay as you go plan is defenitely a good thing as long as the tax cuts are left alone. Unfortunately, I also suspect that one of her other priorities that she didn't mention is the reversal of tax relief put in place by Republicans. She, as well as other leftists believe that our deficit problem is caused by tax relief. However.............. http://www.latimes.com/business/nationworl...-wires-business ^^ My new siggy. This slam dunks anyone who says Bush's tax cuts have caused our deficit problem. This needs to be put in a bright red flashing neon sign for anyone who still thinks that way. If Pelosi wants to be a true defecit hawk and rein in spending then Im all for it but the reality is she probably will look to raise taxes instead.
  12. QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) I guess this is good news for my 401k, but I haven't honestly seen any large jumps in total savings over the past year or so while our economy has been "booming". It'd be great if I had more money to invest in this "booming", "record-breaking" stock market but unfortunately inflation has beaten my wage increases over the past 5 years. I'm somehow able to put a little over 20% of my income (10% 401k, 7% company match, 5% personal savings) aside for retirement, but it's just not enough. You talk to your grandparents and they were easily able to save 40%+ of their earnings because costs weren't near as high...not anymore....unless you're single, a DINK, or actually have a family but earn a shipload of money ($150K+), it's really getting increasingly difficult to put aside much at all. The numbers seem to indicate that many people have a tough time just meeting the company match on their 401k, a 3-month emergency fund is rare in the middle class any more. Lou Dobbs had an interesting commentary on this subject today, check it out. I love his closing lines. Dobbs Im single, for the time being anyway, and I only manage to save about 1/3d of my income. I'd like to know exactly what policies Dobbs is talking about when he says "public policy is hurting the middle class". I AM the middle class and Im doing just fine. Personally, I think it's not the government that's squeezing the middle class but they are doing it to themselves. Everybody wants the big SUV, everybody wants the 123413412435125 inch plasma screen TV, everybody wants a big house out in the burbs, and all new trendy furniture to go in it every 5 years. Bottom line is that people are complete failures at living within their means. They want the world on a 40,000 a year income and when you tell them they cant have it, they cry poor and stomp their feet like little kids who didn't get an ice cream when they asked for it. Dobbs is talking about 250 million casualties in a class war? My guess is that 90% of said casualties are suffering from self-inflicted wounds.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) Get yourself some extra car insurance. I was thinking of making a little noose for it and tying him off to the rearview mirror.
  14. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) BIG FRANK!! awesome...goodbye minny! Gotta love how he shows up for a playoff game now that he's with another team. I guess the sun wasn't in his eyes this time like it was back in 2000.
  15. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) Nuke, I think you're right. Not only is it better for America, its also better for Republicans. I think standing by Hastert is the absolute dumbest thing they can do. He can keep his seat... Just force him out of the Speaker role. I'm a Democrat. Politically, it helps us if he stays on... but its bad bad bad for people's view of American society and government. I hope he resigns... or the right wises up and forces him out on their own. When something like this comes up and one of our own is so clearly in the wrong there's nothing else to say. Hastert has, overnight, become a cancer and he needs to be removed.
  16. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 06:37 PM) http://www.dashboardmohammed.com/store.html Would look perfect next to a Buddy Christ on the dash! Im going to get one for me and another for my uber-liberal aunt. That is pure gold!!!
  17. If muslims dont like it when someone takes a little swipe at Mohammed then thats too bad. Its called free speech. I also find it truly ironic that certain people are so up in arms that the government is supposedly taking their freedoms away in the terror fight while those same people gleefully surrender their right to free speech to a mob of islamofascist thugs. Pathetic.
  18. Much as it pains me to say it, Hastert really has to go. If he doesn't step down because of this then the voters should make him next month. I was listening to Kudlow and Company on CNBC radio a while ago and Hastert actually called Larry Kudlow before the show. His explanation for not moving on this a year ago when the E-Mails surfaced was "we were distracted and too busy at the time". What a load of horses***! To offer a lameo excuse like that for sitting on a sex scandal involving kids is beyond the pale.
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 03:11 PM) I said this somewhere else, but talk to me when the S & P breaks records. Until then, this doesn't matter. So did I. However, my 2 mutual funds are in full on rocking mode right now both being up well into double digits so Im not one to carp about details.
  20. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 08:40 AM) Take the 15,000 International Police Force and replace them with a ratio of 1-1 - we withdrawl 20,000, they replace 20,000 - and then you're finally talking something. The problem is, the UN (or read: any international 'police force') has no balls. I wish they did so we could do something like this, but it won't happen. Agreed. We saw how well international police forces worked in the Balkans, Lebanon and anywhere else they've been tried. They are totally impotent and would be cut to shreds by Iraqi insurgents and foregin fighters. QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 10:07 AM) Bush is already impotent in office; he can't push anything through Congress. Few in his own party want to walk lock-step with the man for fear of hurting their own chances at reelection. If he makes some immediate changes in his administration, he will not only regain the support of some within his party but will also have the opportunity to trumpet effective bipartisanship. He cant? What about that terrorism and border security legislation that passed last week?
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 06:01 AM) If you really want to protect against being fed the same crap during the election cycle, this bill doesn't matter. If you really want to change things, get rid of private funding for races. Set it up so the government gives a base amount for an election cycle of a particular race, and type of office. After you have spent that amount, you are done. That way the race becomes about message and debate, instead of who can raise and spend the most money. While you're at it. All the Lobbyists in Washington need to be sent packing. Im sick and tired of groups buying influence in Washington.
  22. Foley needs to be locked up and have the key thrown away. Hastert and anyone else who knew about this when it was going on and did nothing because of party affiliation needs to go. Resign, like now. This is the exact sort of thing that lends credence to Democratic charges that the Republican House leadership is corrupt. I do not want people like Foley and Hastert representing the party.
  23. QUOTE(IggyD @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Yes, I think it is BS too. Doesn't your statement contradict itself? If she knew, then how could she not have imagined? IF she knew… And that also begs the question...what else are they hiding? Hmmm... the Conspiracy thickens....and now a few words from the PNAC document.....lol You just dont quit do you?
  24. All I can say after the events of the last couple of days is if you guys dont take control of at least the House next month you need to blow up your party and start over. This is the most incredible confluence of events to favor one party since the Depression.
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) The Dow Jones industrial average closes at an all-time high of 11727.34 Look for it to push even higher, along with the rest of the markets. Earnings are forecast to be very strong this time around and that, combined with a trainload of money on the sidelines, should provide plenty of fuel to keep this rally going.
