My first two ever, and they come in the same week. I'll catch the Critic yet.

The way things are going, you just might get your wish.

Seriously, the top beer vendor in a place like Milwaukee definitely knows what he's doing. Getting him and cash for a peanut vendor, who is easily replaced, would be such a steal.

Like you had anything better to do

Lee for Podsednik would lead me to believe there is no god. Adding Ginter in doesn't help much either.

I know what you mean, because I used to think Odom was the swingman type like Marion and Martin. Because it's true that he's not a traditional grinder-type PF like a Charles Oakley/Anthony Mason. But I think he's closer to them than he is Marion. He's not a leaper like them, and he also isn't allergic to the paint like they can be. The comparison that comes to mind is an Antoine Walker/Jamal Mashburn type player. A guy who has size, puts the ball on the floor and kinda slithers his way to the hoop. You don't think they've done much until you look at the box score and they somehow have like 18 and 10. He doesn't really depend on other people/fortunate rebounds to get him easy buckets.

Mihm's low totals are in games where gets in foul trouble. I've said that forever that he could be a lot better if he was disciplined. But his game is running around like a madman so that's what happens. I used to think Odom was built like a 3 but he's really not. He's 6-10, 232. He's big enough, and skilled enough to be a PF. K-Mart is 6'9, 240. He's more of a swingman than Odom is. Neither of them really has a ton of post moves, but Odom is more skilled in the paint. Plus he is grabbing 11 boards a game. But anyway, I would still take Odom/Mihm/Divac/Grant over Howard/Battie/Garrity/Cato right now.

Well you are forgetting the Johnny Davis vs. Rudy Tomjanovich aspect also. Sure, the Lakers bench looks like crap at first glance, but I've watched them a few times this year and they always seem to be more than the sum of their parts. Also, I don't know that a frontcourt, starter-wise can be bottom five with Lamar Odom and Caron Butler. Mihm is averaging 11/6 a game and that's only playing 25 minutes. Everyone loves to rip on him but he's been really solid this year. Anyway, it's not like any great scientific analysis went into my prediction, as with most things I say. I guess it was more of a hunch.

True, but I was a little at the time so I probably thought it was still 1996 or something.

Well I'll take credit for being right.

um, maybe in december. come march we'll see where lack of an inside game gets them. early, second round exit ala chris thomas & torin francis two years ago? perhaps. -
I'll bet you anything, Lakers 89, Magic 75.

Are you seriously asking about Kelvin Cato, one of the biggest f***in duds in the association. Like they said on TNT a couple weeks back, after Cato signed his huge contract with the Rockets, he went shopping, and never came back.

I wrote this on November 24 of last year, anyone who remembers my blog can find it One thing about the college game that has never made sense, however, is the Heisman voting. Southern Cal's Carson Palmer benefitted from tons of hype last year from the middle of the season to the end. He won the voting in all six regions except for the midwest, home of the second place finisher, Iowa QB Brad Banks. Palmer admittedly had a stellar season, going 11-2, including a win over Banks and the Hawkeyes in the Orange Bowl in his senior year. He threw for 3,942 yards, 33 TD's and 10 INT's for a QB Rating of 149.1 and took home the Heisman Memorial with ease. Fast forward to this year and Palmer's replacement, sophomore Matt Leinart, has just as good of a case, but is getting no hype at all. He will almost surely not win the Heisman. Rather, Oklahoma QB Jason White looks to be the front-runner, along with N.C. St. QB Phillip Rivers and VA Tech RB Kevin Jones. In fact, Leinart isn't even in the top 5 of the latest ESPN writers poll, despite numbers that are as good or better than Palmer's. Leinart has a higher completion percentage (63.6% to 63.2%), 3 less TD's and 3 less INT's in about 160 fewer attempts. His QB rating is much higher (164.5 to 149.1) and he has been sacked 11 less times than Palmer was. Leinart has also gone 10-1 so far this year, with one more regular season game left against Oregon St. A win there will most likely propel USC into the National Championship game against White and the Sooners. Even if that happens, Leinart will not be invited to New York City as a finalist because of the bias that exists against underclassmen when it comes to Heisman voting. It a system much like affirmative action, and leads to winners like Eric Crouch and Danny Wuerffel. The voters need to be a little more open-minded, or they will wind up picking another dud. I consider myself clairvoyant, a genius, a masterful artiste of the language english.

I wanted to say it, intimidated by all the Bulls downers the first couple months, but Gordon is both a leader AND a shooter. Until you let him fluorish in both roles he will be unhappy. At UConn they gave him the free reign to shoot with 32 seconds on the clock if he felt it necessary. That's where he needs to be with Chicago. This past Thursday UConn showed how much they are lacking a floor leader like Gordon, their fill-in PG dribbed the ball off his leg with like 30 seconds left.

How would you react to Bonds' 756th HR?

Regardless of whether it's true or not, this is still one of the funniest things I've seen.

Well, whatever. Everyone's over it I guess. But it's still something that everyone should experience in their lifetime. One of those surreal experiences. When Freeman made the layup with 4 seconds left I think I jumped 10 feet in the air. And then the whole court thing. Goddamn. Cool stuff. Edit: Oh, and I will admit I was really far off about this game. But I will take credit for saying that UConn is not the #6 team in the country. I just figured they wouldn't prove it for a while. -
