QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) Adkins for Durham was bad. Olivo for Bradford was good. And as much as the Koch trade sucked for 2 years it's definitely worked out this year and in the long term. Cotts so far this year has been much better then Foulke. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Adkins for Durham bad? How so? Olivo for Bradford was good in one way, but if you look at player for player, very bad. THe only thing good about Olivo is that he helped us get Freddy. Olivo is not even close to as good as Bradford has been.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Hopefully the Sox are putting out some feelers on Fuentes. I was really impressed with him when the Sox were in Colorado. On a side note, I had no idea that Ortiz and Podsednik were former mariners. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Colorado stated that they will not trade him and both the Red Sox and Marlins were after him. Why would they feel the need to trade him? He is pretty damn good and costs nothing. I wouldn't mind having Jay Witasick though.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) Every time I read something about Burnett, he wants to be somewhere for some reason. He wants to be a Yankee so he can be with his buddy Pavano, he wants to be in Toronto because of their pitching coach. Is this guy a prima donna in the making? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You mean like Freddy Garcia wanted to be with his buddy and White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen? Just because you want to go somewhere where you already know someone that you feel would make you more comfortable has nothing to do with being a prima dona. He is not demanding a trade to one of these teams.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 07:57 AM) Chritopher Walken has been in about 1000 different movies. A lot of them are cameo type roles but when he's featured he still rocks. My favorite Walken roles are: 1. When he's that Air Force officer who brings Butch his daddy's watch in Pulp Fiction "He'd be damned if some slope's gonna put their greasy yellow hands on your kids birthright." 2. In "The Rundown" when he plays the evil mining tycoon. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Rundown - "WOWIE WOW!" He was even good in Envy and that movie blew.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) Griffey cant play a corner OF spot because of his knee's.... Idonno they did a special on it where it said the CF spot is actually easier on him because of some reason or not. As far as his defense is today.... Idonno if some of you guys havent seen him play but he is still making those gold glove catches and his range is fine. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly, and to say Rowand is even close to this guy defensively is a joke. Rowand does not get half the jump Junior gets. It is fine to be a homer but don't make such ridiculous statements such as Rowand is a better defensive CF than Junior. That is just nuts.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Maybe one of the greatest athletes to ever play the game. His injury destroyed "what could have been" Powerful as Frank Fast like Ichiro A cannon for a arm like Vlad I remember a game in 93 when a player hit a bullet down the RF line into the corner. He tried to strecth it into a triple. Bo nailed him from the corner in RF on a frozen line-drive throw to Robin Ventura at 3rd. The ball never touched the ground. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That was great and so was the time where he caught the ball full stride and continued to run up the wall. He was the fastest man in the football draft when he came out He was a huge back He would have broke all kinds of records in football Is he the only player to play in an all-star game in both football and baseball at the major league levels? Best athlete I have ever seen, hands down. No one even comes close.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) OMFG!!!!!! Stop living in the past man. Griffey is not with the Mariners anymore! You have got to be kidding me. I gotta agree with RockRaines on this one. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just because he is not 6 years younger does not mean he is a downgrade defensively to Aaron Rowand. That is just a ridiculous statement. I like Aaron Rowand and all, but come on, lets not be too much of a homer here. Jr. is one of the best defense OFs of all time. I remember how everyone was saying last year that Andruw Jones is no longer that good defensively and he is worse than Rowand defensively. s***, he is still better than Rowand too, bad knees and all. You guys are overrating a Rowand a ton defensively. He is not even in the same category of Jr and Andruw Jones.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) Why no green?? At this point Rowand>>>>>>>>>Griffey Defensively. Griffey wasn't broken down last year until right after the allstar break. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now that should be in green. Rowand is far below Griffey in defense. Griffey is very very smooth in CF now or during any point in his career. Like I said Aaron is good, but no where near Griff Jr.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) WHY BOTHER TALKING ABOUT IT. THE CHICAGO WHITE SOX WILL NEVER ACQUIRE KEN GRIFFEY, JR! IT'S JUST NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! KW IS SATISFIED WITH AROW IN CENTERFIELD, AND SO IS EVERYONE ELSE. THERE WILL NEVER BE A JUNIOR GRIFFEY ON THE WHITE SOX! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WOWIE WOW!

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) EH, count me out on both Omar and Broken body Griffey. We wouldnt even pay that much for Omar in the offseason, I dont see us doing it now, and Jr is a defensive downgrade in the OF. They wont replace A-row, he is a well liked player and GREAT defensive OF'er. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Griffey is not broken down anymore and he has stayed healthy all year. He would be a great acquisition as we need lefthanded power. Rowand is good defensively, not great. he still gets a lot of bad jumps. I am by no means saying he is a bad CFer, just saying he is not great. He may be better suited for the corner OF positions. Griffey is much better than him defensively, no doubt about it. Rowand is well-liked and no one is saying to get rid of him, someone just speculated that the position could be upgraded and I agree it would be a major upgrade to get someone like Griffey so we are better against right handed pitching. You can even have him as an insurance DH in case Big Hurt can't get through the whole season. I would be all for that move. Omar is also a big upgrade. He is equal to Uribe in the field, but will provide us with one more on base kind of guy at the bottom of the order. I would much rather have Omar's bat than Uribe's and he is equal to him defensively, so why not make that move? We may not have to pay all of his salary if we trade for him, so I don't think that is really an issue. I think we can also get Jason Schmidt in the same Omar deal. This would help move the Count to the long reliever slot. Jay Witasik from Colorado is another reliever I would like to have that should not cost very much. I would be absolutely thrilled with: LF Pods 2B Iguchi CF Griffey Jr - replaces Timo DH Hurt 1B Konerko C AJ RF Dye 3B Crede SS Vizquel - replaces Pablo BENCH Rowand Uribe Crazy Carl Gload - replaces Willie Widger Pitchers Buehrle Garcia Schmidt - replaces el duque Garland Contreras Cotts Witasik - replaces viz Politte Hermanson Marte -relpaces shingo but it will never happen, and I am not even sure we should make so many moves with a team that has this much chemistry.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 12:22 AM) Should I be the one to start the trade speculation? Or somebody else? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As soon as I heard this on the radio I immediately thought that a trade is going down. We shall see. I think we may get to see a little of Bobby Jenks tonight.

I am trying to buy tickets for this Satruday's game against the A's and I am having no luck at getting seats in the lower level, unless I want to go to a scalper. Is the game almost sold out? Please let me know. Thanks guys!!!!!

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) Seattle could be a good trading partner. J.J Putz, Julio Mateo and Ron Villone some bullpen guys to look at who are having good seasons. Kent Mercker from the Reds as well, there's a few lefty relievers and LOOGY's out there who could help us. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would love to have Putz. He is very good. No thank you on Mercker. What LOOGYs are out there? I know we aren't getting Wunsch back. Steve Kline? -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) Perez just signed like a 3-year deal. Doubt he's going anywhere. I know, let's get Eric Gagne! Oh, wait... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As I said, it was just speculation. I also said I didn't know his situation. It was just a thought. -

Has anyone mentioned the Dodgers yet? Are they sellers? 6.5 out of the divison in third place and 7 out of the wild card. KW seemed to always like Odalis Perez and with him coming back next week, would this be something we would be interested in? Just throwing it out there as a speculation. I don't know what his situation is or if the Dodgers like him too much not to give him up. -

In his last three starts, all wins, Schmidt has a 1.23 ERA to go along with a 1.23 WHIP and 21 Ks over 22 innings. Last 3 starts were at Detroit, at home against AZ, and at AZ. Not exactly awful hitting teams. Detroit is 13th in team batting average, while Arizona is 15th. -

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) Way to use one start for each of the pitchers as a basis for comparison. How about their other 12-14 starts apiece, huh? I doubt Burnett costs anymore than Schmidt will because he is a pending free agent. There is at least an option on Schmidt. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Burnett will not cost more because he is FA, he will cost more because he is younger. He will cost more to resign next year than the 10 million dollars you worried about giving to Schmidt next year. -

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) He also outdueled Grienke twice in close games (think one of them was 2-1, the other was 1-0). I'd like to see a couple more starts before we condemn him. He was pitching great before his last two starts. I don't see how everyone can be so concerned about two bad starts from Contreras and so excited about two good starts from Schmidt when both go against their norms for the season. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh boy he pitched 2 good games against the Royals? Great job El Duque!!!! -

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) Precisely... they have comparable ERAs despite Schmidt pitching in a pitcher's league and park. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> El Duque has pitched for the Yanks. Not exactly the greatest hitters park. Schmidt pitched for the Pirates as well as the Giants. Pittsburgh is not exactly the best pitchers park and he had awful teams to play for which should be taken into consideration. -

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) I never said he was a fluke. I said he isn't the same pitcher that he used to be. There's a difference. Why don't we go get Chan Ho Park too, he used to be pretty good. Maybe we can get Kerry Wood while we're at it. Take a look at his stats for this season and tell me that he is an ace that is going to get us to the series. I'll believe it when I see him put up a few more good starts. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Comparing Chan Ho Park to Jason Schmidt? WOWIE WOW! -

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 06:14 PM) I'm gonna be upset if we get Schmidt (unless the deal centers around Contreras and McCarthy or Anderson, that'd be pretty cool). The guy has allowed 42 walks and 86 hits in 82 1/3. He's simply not the same guy. He was highly mediocre last night, he could have been hit a lot harder. He allowed 9 hits and 3 walks. If Kenny is absolutely set on getting a starter, I'd much rather try to get Burnett. The guy has 13 quality starts already and has pitched much better. However, I'd still much rather see us improve in other areas, like finding another guy that can hit, or another arm in the pen so we can use more than 4 guys. Also if we get Schmidt, I sincerely hope that he doesn't start over one of our current big 3 unless he returns to being his old self or one of our guys falls apart. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Garland pitched 6 innings against that same lineup and gave up 6 hits, 3 walks, and 6 runs. El Duque against AZ pitched 4 2/3 and gave up 8 hits, 3 walks, and 6 earned runs. The Count pitched 6 innings against them and gave up 9 hits, 3 walks, and 8 earned runs. This was all at home. Needless to say, against the same exact team, Schmidt pitched better than all of them. He pitched 6 innings, gave up 9 hits, 3 walks, and 3 earned runs. This was an away game for him. Give me Schmidt instead of any of those 3 that pitched against AZ for us. I would love to have Burnett, but if you are worried about spending money and prospects then you will pay a lot more for him than you will for Schmidt. -

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 04:14 AM) There is no telling whether Schmidt, or Burnett, or Zito, or Babe Ruth if we dug him up would get us to the series, especially since one of them had an ERA of 4.85 before today, Zito was around 4.4, and Burnett only has 5 wins. You missed the whole point my rumor statements. We DON"T know what is going to happen. As I said, about a month ago Chavez and Zito were hot rumor subjects, now they are probably not available. The same thing is the case with Schmidt. It's just a dumbass writer, like we rip on all the time, saying that he might be traded. That's far from solid evidence. And Burnett's contract status has nothing to do with whether or not he is traded this season while Florida is in contention. They had no problem letting I-Rod, Benitez, or Urbina walk at the end of a season, and they weren't exactly locks to win the division at the deadline. We're not exactly counting on Contreras or Hernandez to carry our team in the playoffs either. One of them probably won't start, the other one would make 3 starts TOPS, and that's assuming we make it to the series and play the max amount of games in each of them. As for Garland, he's shown no signs of slowing down, so why should we assume he should? Did the Marlins try to add another starter because they weren't sure that Beckett and Pavano would be able to hold up in the playoffs? Hell no! All you're doing by adding a starter is making one of our three solid starters that have gotten us to this point much less valuable to your team. We're simply not going to find a guy out there who is a significant upgrade over Garland unless by some miracle Clemens demands to be traded and decides that he is going to come to the Sox. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am assuming Garland will because I have seen him pitch the last few years besides this one. COuld he have turned the corner? Sure, but what if he hasn't? The Marlins? Please! They never try to add payroll. The season is not even half way over. Adding another starter still has a lot of value. An ace starter such as Schmidt has A LOT of value!!!!!!!
