Paul Byrd? Me likey.

So, when are they gonna start an Enrico Pallazzo chant?

Unless the Yanks do something quick, it's looking like its gonna be Rally Monkey vs. Rally Crede.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) Id rather face K-Rod than Rivera in a situation like that. Thing is, I'd rather face the guys that lead up to Rivera than the guys that lead up to K-Rod.

Big Unit warming up right now. Good to see both teams using all their pitchers tonight.

QUOTE(mkalk @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) Seriously, how could we still have Marte, but leave McCarthy off? The only logical reason that I've heard was given by Phil Rogers (yah, I know that sounds odd) this morning: Still don't agree with it. My philosophy is to go with your most effective players. And from what we've seen all year, there is no question as to who has been more effective. I'll trust Guillen and KW here, but if I see Marte out there walking guys in a big situation again, I might just go postal!

They just broke in to Bears coverage to announce the ALCS rosters. I didn't catch all of it, but here's the important stuff. Rotation: Game 1: Contreras Game 2: Buehrle Game 3: Garcia Game 4: Garland Marte still in. McCarthy still off. :headshake

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) Getting ready for them at the Cell tomorrow..... :puke Are they really handing those things out? Ugh. Well, maybe they'll be less annoying in the Cell.

My assessment of this game: Thundersticks are annoying.

QUOTE(JoshPR @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) Black Jack McDowell I thought Black Jack was awesome when he was filling in for Hawk earlier this year. I'd take him in a second. Doubt it'll happen though. I actually think I'll be satisfied as long as it isn't Mike North.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) We would need 500 Chavez's to balance out the evil that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck bring to the bosox fans.

Wonder what Pat Robertson thinks of this... Hugo Chavez: A Sox fan?

If you asked me a couple months ago if I wanted Konerko back in '06, I would have told you that our money would be better spent elsewhere. But as it becomes increasingly clear that he is one of the few productive bats in our lineup, and being that 40 HR, 100 RBI guys aren't exactly falling out of the sky, I think the Sox should do whatever they can to bring him back. Unless KW plans on bringing at least a couple productive bats next year, its hard to see our lineup scoring many runs without Pauly.

I was going to turn down the TV volume and listen to Rooney and Farmio anyways, but this just adds more incentive. For those of you who have to listen to the TV broadcast, brace yourselves... From the Trib

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) Found this pic and needed to post it somewhere. This seemed an appropriate thread. I just saw that picture on MLB.com. Said he was doing it to the Indians mascot right after he took out McCarthy. Hilarious!

Hmmm...El Duque, Marte or Viscaino? Sounds like a battle to decide who our worst pitcher is. Personally, since I really don't have a preference, I say you get the three together for a battle of rock, paper, scissors, and whoever wins gets the roster spot. My only hope is that whoever they select between those three, none of them see much time in the playoffs.

This is also a forgotten game that I thought set the pace for the rest of the season: April 6, 2005 - Sox stun Tribe with four in ninth

Hard to beat the AJ homer against LA. Something about those '59 jerseys made it that much better. It was an amazing win. I also thought the makeup game against Boston was a memorable win. Probably has something to do with my massive hatred of Curt Schilling.

Taking a long-ass lunch tomorrow. Then I'll go back to my Cub fan infested office with a cigar and a bottle of champagne (risking getting fired has never sounded so fun).

QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) This loss is due to Dustin Hermanson not executing in the 9th inning. They had a two run lead, a two run lead is a two run lead, whether it's 9-7 or 2-0. He fell behind hitters and then left everything up in the zone. 4 consecutive hard hit balls, game over. This falls on Dustin Hermanson's shoulders, and Dustin Hermanson will likely be the first one to say so. I've been waiting for someone to bring up this guy...you know...the guy who actually blew the game.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) Have you Ozzie supporters not seen how quickly and how hard this team has gone to s***s? Ozzie, right now, is absolutely clueless on how to right the ship. Clueless...Ozzie givith...Ozzie takith away.... Maybe it has a little bit to do with individual performances. But I guess Mark, Jon and Freddy pitching like s*** in the second half is Ozzie's fault. Same thing with Pods getting hurt, Hermy's back problems, Marte's flakiness, etc. Damn you Ozzie!

How predictable. :headshake

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) Isn't Torborg's son associated with the team? You know, the wrestler formerly known as the Demon in WCW! Yes. I believe he's on the training crew, in some shape or form. Also, I've heard Torborg state many times how much he loves the organization.
-
I'm a big fan of Torborg, and getting him would go a long way at easing the pain of losing Rooney. North, on the other hand, would go a long way to making the pain of losing Rooney worse. How that guy has a radio show, not to mention a decent sized audience, is beyond me.
