I'm ready for Floyd's next start to be with the White Sox.

QUOTE(jhart05 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 06:57 PM) The Crew will not trade any of the young infield, Hart, or Yovani. Melvin won't give up the future for half a season. Some of us Brewer fans can see past this year, to what this team can become. So if they don't make a move to "guarantee" the fans a playoff win this year, I'm fine with it. I can't speak for "the sky is falling" type of idiot fan, thou. They are probably going to put Yovani in the pen now, to save the majority of his innings for starts in late August and September. I don't really think they need another starter. Villanueva can also start if needed. Melvin said he was not interested in Buehrle anyway. I believe him. If anything I would say he is looking for a lefty in the pen and a replacement for Mench, but neither is crucial, imo. You probably should look at some other teams. Welcome aboard...appreciate the insite and opinion of a fan on the other side of the rumors. I know a couple people around here have talked in the past about the Brewers being pretty good fits for either MacDougall or Thornton.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 03:38 PM) Abercrombie won't be involved, which I stated in my first post here. It's going to be a move for an A-ball pitcher, somebody who won't need to be put on the 40-man roster. That makes a lot more sense.

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) It's been confirmed. They've offered Elijah Dukes. Are you being serious?

QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 03:24 PM) Yeah, thank god this Jones rumor didn't come true. Not at all the type of player I'd want to acquire. The money we would have had to pay him will be better distributed among finding relievers and filling other needs. It looks like the Cubs will be paying most of the contract. So essentially the Sox could have dealt Robert Valido for Jones and cash (cause Valido is no different than Abecrombie as far as I'm concerned). Personally I'd have loved to have been the club that made this deal.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:52 PM) Terrero is 27, dumb, and his career .234 BA just blows Abercrombie's out of the water. What have we seen from Terrero that makes him so much better than Abercrombie? Everyone was wowed by his long home run too. I'm not saying Abercrombie is some stud can't-miss guy, I'm just saying he has the tools to become at least a respectable major leaguer. Terrero was higher rated than Abecrombie (Terrero has power potential, a strong arm, good speed and is a guy that plays all 3 outfield positions well) and at least has minor league production to back him up. Abecrombie doesn't have minor league production at higher levels, no major league production and not near the power potential of Terrero. I think 2-3 years ago you could see why the Cubs made this deal, now not really (especially considering Abecrombie is on the 40 man roster and the whole reason they got rid of Jones was to free up a spot or so we thought).

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) If this was the Mariners or Yankees trading Jones for Abercrombie, I bet this would be a different story from some people. I'm just saying, he's a better pick up than some A ball scrub. Gotta disagree. I'd rather take a potentialy raw low level minor leaguer than a guy like Abecrombie who has been up at the big legaue level for substantial time with limited major league success (and I see no reason why he would all of a sudden turn things on as he was one of those guys that was over-rated to begin with, imo). Nice move by the Marlins. This would have been the equivalent to dealing Joe Borchard for Jacque Jones (well at least close).

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
Chisoxfn replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Balta....you and your man love for Haeger. Too bad his value is pretty low right now to the point that it likely isn't worth even throwing his name out in any sort of trade discussion (albeit I'd have a super grin if that was all it took to get Baldelli, but it would probably start with Broadway and someone else). -
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) Sorry everyone, next time you have a question about prospects and what is avaible and what is not and what other teams would look for and have wanted then Kalapse is your man. He knows all of this stuff and there is not a doubt about it. Its gotten to the point that I see a thread title and if Kalapse has replied in it I take a look because I'm bound to learn something or come across a valid point (Gene is another one of those posters I typically will venture in a thread if I see him partaking in it).

Ya, he went after posters here and that isn't cool. Soxtalk always has done its best to allow and encourage opposing fans to come over, but if they come over and run ammuck they'll get run out of town real quickly.

The Brewers would be an intriguing place to send Buehrle. Plus the management of both clubs has a good rappore. A deal centered around Weeks makes sense (even though I know a lot of people here say they won't give up Weeks for Buehrle, I think they'd consider it).
-
QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 08:58 AM) Because Buehrle would pitch against the DRays in this series? 99.9% sure that you are dead on. I see no logical reason the Rays would trade for Buehrle....NONE.

Cardinals Interested in Buehrle?
Chisoxfn replied to RudyLawRules's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
God that would be a terrible trade. Try Rasmus, Yadier Molina and another player. -
I'd love to get Matt Murton. Hell, if the Cubs think they can compete I'd send Buehrle to the northsiders for Murton, Rich Hill, and Felix Pie. I'd probably do Mmac for Murton and a low level spect. He gives us a legitimate left field bat that projects to be a pretty good hitter, imo.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
Chisoxfn replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
I think people are accurate that the Sox should and possibly will look at Baldelli (heck they may approach it during the trade deadline, after Kenny has loaded up in other areas). The only question is whether the Sox could buy low. -
QUOTE(JPN366 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 09:46 PM) Micah personally gave me one of his fielding gloves last year. I'll adopt him. Awesome...I'm glad someone is replacing him cause I have been horrible at updating my AAP. By the way welcome aboard. I should also note he hit his 17th homer tonight and really needs to get up to AA. The guy still has a lot of power ability and if he can produce in AA I think he'd be back on the prospect radar. He's a good guy and I am hoping he succeeds (one of the first guys I ever interviewed down in the minors).
-
QUOTE(spiderman @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) He's speculating. He has no inside info. Just a word to the wise...I'd listen to what JD is saying cause there is probably some wings behind it and JD I think me and you would be the only people that would like Jones on the Sox, haha. However I wouldn't give up any good prospects and it would be on the basis that Kenny is planning on loading up with young talent with the idea of eventually selling some of that young talent this off-season to fill other needs as well as a nice mix of vets coming in as well so the team will again be attempting to go at the division/series next season (with Jones playing left), a prospect elsewhere and a big name hopefully brought in for the other position (or two upper echelon outfield prospects).

Danks didn't have a bad game. Looks like he just left a few pitches up (which has been a consistent problem) but it was an improvement over his past performances (based on the stat line as I was unable to watch the game).

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 07:17 PM) I cant wait till later in the season, when we see a quote, that even though they noticed some mechanical flaws in Fields swing, they didnt want to change him. Because that was the swing he got to the majors with. Thats the excuse they used last year when they allowed Anderson to die a slow and rotten death up here. Wasn't it more Anderson wasn't willing to make the adjustments necessary until it got drilled into him that he couldn't effectively succeed without making those changes? Or am i wrong.

How can you blame Ozzie...this team is hopeless.
-
QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 06:58 PM) The 3rd round pick, Ely, has signed per the White Sox site. Nice to see it is official. We should have an interview with him up in the coming week or so.

QUOTE(Shamrock4Life @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 05:44 PM) i don't remember boras in football at all, but ok. and chisox, that going rate would be what $100 a year? Whoah...I'd want six figures, but the low six figures would still make me the grunt gm in the game. Why not have a grinder gm for a grindery team.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 05:45 PM) last i checked phil hughes was one of, if not the highest ranked pitching prospect in the game...i dont know why some of you would want the other yankees guys over him....that said im sure the yankees wouldnt be willing to trade him you dont have to trust it, and dont take this personally, but i trust baseball america on thier analysis of prospects more than anyone on this message board.... http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prosp...res/263445.html I just said he wasn't the best. I think Gallardo has passed him up, but thats just me. I'm not saying he's not in the first couple though (I think him and Homer Bailey are just behind Gallardo of the Brewers). Again just my two cents and arguing whether your the 1st or 3rd best pitching prospect in the game is so unimportant (so I say we both agree that he's a potential front of the rotation guy).
