  1. I think it was someone in the know that mentioned Haeger will be up. We'll see when/if it becomes official soon.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 09:40 AM) Saw that preview before Transformers, and it looks awful. At the end, everyone in the theatre was chuckling, like.. "was that supposed to be scary or funny?" I saw it and thought it looked pretty cool but the rest of the audience didn't seem to think so. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jul 11, 2007 -> 09:32 AM) Wow, I forgot all about that game. Thank you for bringing back some memories. Holy crap...I'm gonna have to find that emulator.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) Watched Green Street Hooligans last night, and while I thought it had the makings of a good movie, it's just tough for me to take Elijah Wood as a 'fighting' character too seriously. That movie was surprisingly badass. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 06:23 PM) Breach was damn good. Chris Cooper was amazing in it. Ya, I saw that about 2 weeks ago and enjoyed the hell out of it.
  4. Damn it...I had a slurpee last night at like 11:30...freaking eh, just missed a free one.
  5. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) That was brutal. How the heck was he out by that much. God was he laboring around the bases.
  6. Richar has the tools and I want him up pronto. Iguchi must be dealt.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 07:28 PM) If Corey Patterson weren't a Boras client I'd fully expect him to be leading off for the Sox next season. Oh what a disaster that would be. I wouldn't mind Patterson if the Sox were going to play him in left and add veterans in CF and RF. And of course use Patterson in the 9 spot (he would add speed and would likely come at a fair deal). Heck, even if the club added a Hunter and just Patterson I wouldn't complain because it would still be a significant upgrade over Pods/Erstad. Plus I still think next year you can get Sweeney plenty of Ab's as a 4th outfielder with him being groomed for the starting job in 09.
  8. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 11:42 PM) I have yet to see Garland say anywhere that he wants to stay in Chicago. And liking Chicago is completely different from wanting to stay in Chicago. Throughout the course of Mark Buehrle's career, he stated and has continued to state he wants to stay in Chicago. I don't ever recall Jon Garland making such a statement. Technically Garland said that much when he took a bit below market value for to forgoe free agency for either 1-2 more yeras (I forget which). I'm not saying he does it again nor would I hold it against him if he didn't, but I wouldn't count it against him either (I think he really likes it here and is comfortable here so if the Sox were interested and offered him a fair deal over the off-season he may jump at an extension). That said we have no idea whether Garland is in Ken Williams future plans.
  9. I've long compared Sweeney and Garret Anderson but I'd like to point out that I'd be absolutely stunned if GA did roids. GA doesn't even dive for baseballs because he claims diving would hamper his longevity in the game. His hr's dropped in correlation to his back issues flaring up and nothing more, imo. The guy, when healthy, is a fantastic all around hitter, but the problem is he probably will never be truly healthy again (too bad for the Angels both him and Salmon took there major dives right after they were given fat contracts with the club).
  10. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 11, 2007 -> 07:10 AM) I am going to be a huge Braves/Phillies fan for the next 3 weeks. Increase the desperation in New York, they have more young talent than any other trade partner. I will also be rooting for Dye to heal up and get his act together offensively. I think the Dodgers and Mets are the two teams I want to see the Sox deal with the most. I will also admit the Braves have some key parts I like (Escobar & Salty) but I don't see them giving up those guys without getting one of our starters (and I must admit, I would trade Garland for that type of package but I don't know if they would and I would trade Jenks for that type of package...again some people claim Soriano is that guy for the Braves but if he was, Wickman wouldn't be closing for them). Milledge, Pelfrey, Gomez, Martinez, Kemp, Hu, Billingsley all names I love. I just don't see the Sox getting any of those guys, but who knows maybe they would do Milledge/Pelfrey or some sort of combo for Jose and Jermaine (I would be absolutely stunned if they would, but I sure wouldn't complain, LOL).
  11. The thing with Ichiro is he's almost worth more because of the additional revenue he can draw a franchise (just having him means you get so much more international money).
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 09:44 AM) I dont either. The presence alone of Ichiro in the lineup makes it better than this years team. Rowand and Ichiro are infinite upgrades over the procution the sox have gotten from Dye/CF.
  13. I actually didn't mind that lineup.
  14. Nah, I'm working on that right now Steff. I'm not closing this DB down and we may actually be able to do this without losing posts (key word being may) or any of the info. We have a lot of things in the pipeline right now but the good news is when this is done it should be screaming (key word being should). The stuff done last night worked brilliantly. Give me about 25-40 minutes or so Steff and I'll have your stuff (you don't have to log out or anything).
  15. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) so, besides the starting over, will everything else on the board be pretty much the same except faster and better? Any new features? There will be new features...I just don't know what. We will also be unleashing a new front page (finally I swear on the Sox this will be a permanent feature for the site...but it won't be released for some time).
  16. Freaking badass....think looks amazing on my work laptop.
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 11:08 PM) I believe Gio would have only been on 2-3 days rest, or am I wrong? He pitched on Friday...which means today would have not pitch on Sat or Sunday and typically this would be the standard time for a bullpen session so I find it funny that he couldn't pitch for an inning.
  18. Baj is undergoing surgery on his shoulder this week. Hopefully he'll be able to rehab and make his way back to the show.
  19. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 11:03 PM) Well clearly... i am guessing the sox would be leading the division with him this year too. Leading the division...try best record in baseball
  20. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 11:01 PM) I don't disagree – I just wondered at the timing of it if you cared much about getting any outside votes. Then again, if the plan is to stuff the ballotbox like real Chicagoans, what's the worry, right? Exactly...we will show how great we are when we win the thing with almost no posts and just a few registered members
  21. Good stuff. It is also interesting or at least intriguing that Gio was requested not to pitch. He last threw on Friday IIRC (same time as Floyd's start) so it isn't as if he were tired and not ready. I wonder if a promotion of some sorts is near or if some other type of move is close.
  22. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) I guarantee the poker guy is making a killing from the thread in slam ( I know, I used to promote the same thing) The question for me is how the hell do I get in on that and cut the advertiser out. Than we can have a cadillac of servers
  23. I wouldn't have a problem with that move, especially if the Sox than swang Jenks for a bloody ransom. You than still have your closer for next year in Lidge and have parlayed Dye into a number of prospects (well technically Jenks but to do so you had to move Dye to keep yourself strong at the closers position). Wouldn't be bad and I must admit I like this creative thinking Lemon.
  24. Interesting. I hope Joe can come back and swing the bat well. It will give the Sox reason to work out an agreement with him and with time he should be able to create some trade value and in turn allow the Sox to get something of value for Joe (or keep him if they opt to go with that method while moving Fields to LF). Still I'd be stunned if Crede stuck around after proving himself healthy (heck he may very well get non-tendered).
  25. That something we thought of but I've never been in it for the accolades (albeit I was really stoked to get listed in the top 8, just like I was stoked to have an interview in ESPN the magazine and see this site featured on Sports Illustrated). Still, I think with more hard work and a stable server set up this place will continue to emerge as a premiere community, baseball site and well just all around great web site.
