  1. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) We already have one of those, his name is Luis Terrero. Let me know when Terrero hit 26 hr's in about 350 major leauge at bats. The guy has always been stuck in outfields with too many guys and because of it hasn't started. I don't know if he'll ever hit for a great average, but jesus he has the tools and would be the perfect guy to get along with two highly ranked prospects (essentially you get two top prospects and than a high risk high reward guy who has already played a couple major league seasons).
  2. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 11:55 AM) They were talking earlier as well that the Rockies might try to get into the Buehrle sweepstakes...with as bad as they have been they must have some interesting prospects... Tulowitzki would be my starting point. Again, I don't give a s***...you want an ace, your going to give up top prospects or studly young players....case closed.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 11:32 AM) You know that package is probably twice as much as what we'll get. Now you're getting everyone's hopes up. I don't freaking care. This is probably the best pitcher to get traded at the deadline since Bartolo Colon and that is life when you have quite a few competing teams, with good upper level prospects, that are interested in making a deal. Any Braves package involves Sally PLUS some (and yes they would have to give him up to make a deal). I don't give a s***, if the Sox are dealing Buehrle they better get an assload because that will not only benefit the Sox by getting good value in the Buehrle deal, but it will also set the market high. Unfortunately for someone like Jermaine Dye the value is going to be very low. The club can only hope it gets some decent prospects for guys like Iguchi (and I said decent), Pyrzinski, Uribe and whoever the heck else they move.
  4. I think the price starts at Bucholtz and one of Ellsbury/Lowrie plus Willy Mo Pena. That is just my take.
  5. Considering I may be the biggest Jacque Jones fan on the site, I think I'd be the only one excited (and yes I drastically over value Jones). That said if they were going to make this move it should have been a while ago. What are the rumored names? I don't want the Sox to give up anything worth while, considering the club is toast this year anyway.
  6. There was a rumor of this going around yesterday. Is it actually official?
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 02:35 PM) Braves acquired LHP Wilfredo Ledezma from the Tigers for LHP Macay McBride. A challenge trade involving two talented and inconsistent left-handed relievers. We give the edge to the Braves here. Ledezma had a 4.79 ERA and a 24/26 K/BB ratio in 35 2/3 innings for the Tigers this season after posting a 3.58 ERA in seven starts and 17 relief appearances last year. He possesses the talent to start, but like McBride, he has definite command issues. The Braves will throw him into middle relief for now and may give him a look as a starter later. If only Leo Mazzone was still around in Atlanta, we'd call Ledezma a major sleeper in NL-only leagues. This is a great move for the Braves. Ledezma has a good arm and good stuff. He has the ability to be a pretty damn good pitcher in the majors.
  8. Escobar is flat out over-rated. He's a good prospect, don't get me wrong, but he's over-rated. However, a package of Escobar, Lillibridge and Devine would be something that made you think (I don't know if the Braves would do it and I don't think it is a total no brainer for the Sox either). I still say they would part with Salta. Last year in the minors he had a horrid season...this year he's been looking damn good and his value is up a lot....Braves could move him, knowing McCann is better.
  9. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) I pick him up anyways; trade the C type prospect for him, hope and pray he can do something within the next month and stay healthy, and then try and deal him off for a B prospect at the end of the month. Ya, I was going to say that would be an option. Heck, even if you keep him all season, if he does good and you like him you offer him arb and hope another team comes around and you get compensation (otherwise you get him relatively cheap). I assume it wouldn't take more than a Heath Phillips or so to get him or maybe a Robert Valido.

    Rescue Me

I have watched it since day one. Fantastic show.
  11. I don't know how you'd get email from them. Did you get a PM or something? I haven't heard of it but I would never approve of that sort of advertising (I don't give out any email addies...EVER and I don't do pop-ups).
  12. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 11:42 AM) Ahh, how humorous it would be if KW were to get Chris Young back in a Buehrle deal... The great Chris Young could come to the rescue- he of the .281 OBP and .715 OPS. He'd fit in wonderfully with this club! I'd be f***ing thrilled to get Young back as part of the package. He'd be a welcome addition to the southside. Package that with some pitching prospects or one more outfield prospect and I'd be a happy camper.
  13. I don't give two s***s about his injuries or anything else...sign him the f*** up. The man can freaking hit when he's out there and he makes a team better. The Sox extremely lack talent and Bradley is bursting with it in a position that they are getting killed at. This is a freaking no brainer. I assume the A's have 10 days to trade him? The only way I wouldn't pick him up, is if Kenny has in fact written the team off and is going to deal off the vets (in which case I wouldn't want Bradley around the younger players, considering he'd walk at the end of the year anyway).
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 12:06 PM) Who would you like to see get the first shot in the rotation? And you can put several guys in an order you like in case there are also injuries/somebody struggling/other trades. The list of guys I immediately think of is Masset, Broadway, Floyd, Russell, Egbert, and Gio. Here is my list: 1. Masset (I'm really curious what he would do as a starter) 2. Floyd (With his age, now or never point is nearing as he pitches better at AAA) 3. Egbert (His GO/AO and our ballpark seem like a perfect fit) After that, I don't think Gio is ready, Broadway is doing well at AAA but I don't trust his control enough with the 2 seamer yet, and Russell is struggling way too much at AA for me to think he's ready. Gavin Floyd. Second would definitely be Nick Masset as of this moment. I actually wouldn't mind seeing him down in AAA working and being groomed to be a starter just in case the club swings Contreras and Buehrle.
  15. He's pretty close to signing or so we believe he is.
  16. I thought pretty much every system typically gets two guys in. Did they change that this year?
  17. I'd be all over Willy Mo. He's a flat out talent who has never gotten consistent playing time and I would love to see what he could do with that playing time. I bet you could get him on the low end and really reap the rewards of it.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 02:42 PM) No doubt about it. So how long does he have to "play" baseball until he can sign with an NFL team? Damn, he could have been the next Ed McCaffery. Any team could sign him too I think. He's basically an undrafted free agent. I bet he'll make an assload of money in the NFL if he left (maybe he could get that 10 mill signing bonus by playing football professionally with his initial rookie contract).
  19. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 07:46 PM) Brett Wallace is good at choking. 1st team All-American is 0-12 at the CWS and just grounded into a double play in the 10th with the bases loaded and 1 out. What a great freaking game that was. Hell of a comeback by the Anteaters. I should have watched the earlier part of the game but the ending was a doosie.
  20. QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 08:36 AM) Contreras might waive his no trade to pitch for the Mets. He would be reunited with his buddy El Duque. Good call on that.
  21. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 06:27 PM) How sure of that are you Rowand? PS: all I'm saying is, there's a reason he was a punch-line on Philly's site during the draft and the Phillies thought they'd absolutely hosed us when they traded for Garcia. It isn't because people were breaking down the door for Gavin Floyd, that's for sure. Kind of like how the Sox slammed the s*** out of Maggs when he left (you know, his career was over...oh wait, he's leading the league in hitting and damn near leading it in RBI's). Teams spin s***. 24 year old...5th overall draft pick....stellar arm....two years removed from being one of the 3 best starting pitching prospects in the game....yep, no one would give up anything for him. Afterall, Joe Borchard didn't get us Matt Thornton (cause no one would have been interested in a guy like Borchard, who obviously hasn't developed but teams all over the place would have given up at least something for the chance at developing him and IIRC Borchard was much older than Floyd at the time he was traded). QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 06:56 PM) Philadelphia the organization thought they'd hosed us. Fans, too, but the organization especially. Apparently they were wrong....Garcia is on the DL and Gio and Floyd are both pitching pretty damn well in the minor leagues and have a lot more value combined than Freddy Garcia does as of this moment.
  22. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 07:12 PM) (No point really) My questions are serious, so many people are quick to forget that at 18-25 people are still developing and maturing. Don't worry, I will not ask any innapropriate comments/questions. Keep em coming people
  23. He has a lot of nagging injuries and commands a s***load of value if he were on the trade market (and obviously a major if is whether you can get him to waive his no trade clause) and should be moved at all costs if possible (I'm sorry, but I'd rather not have him completely break down in the next year or two, not when he can help your raid the Angels system).
  24. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 05:06 PM) Billingsley is now out of the question in any trade. I would say that the Dodgers will go for a Trachsel type player. Billingsley isn't out of the question. The Dodgers could now look to add another starter plus they still have Hendrickson and Tomko as options. Basically put it makes it a little less likely but definitely not out of the possibility. Plus you now have the potential for a larger deal involving Contreras and Dye.
  25. Why the f*** would the Sox want to trade there best starter. The whole point in having young talent is to put it together with veterans. If all the team wants to do is trade every player that turns good than it will consistently suck. No offense, but any idea involving a Garland deal that doesn't involve the Sox absolutely reaming another team is a dumb idea. Garland should be offered an extension this off-season and this squad should be building the rotation around both him and Buehrle (plus I'd like to keep Vazquez, although I'd settle for the club picking up another veteran pitcher with two youngsters part of the back end of the rotation).
