The West Bracket (San Jose)

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 04:51 AM) IU will be in that game through out, but in the end UCLA's guards will just be too much imo and they'll pull it out. UCLA will win by 15+ -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 10:35 AM) Doing the same thing for me today. I must be the lucky one. I've been watching the Memphis game, but have switched over to the Virginia game since its halftime. Absolutely no problems. -

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 10:35 AM) Yeah so is getting paid to watch basketball games. I love the boss button classy (although I dont really work with spreadsheets still is hilarious) Ya, that thing cracks me up. Marquette proved the comittee got the rankings right. That was just an easy pick with McNeal out. -
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 12:16 PM) I really shouldn't give Iowa fans crap. We hang banners for conference championships, conference tournament championships and NCAA berths. I can't remember if we do for the NIT. It kind of depends on the sport. We've got a ton of s*** hanging up there, including retired jerseys. But like, for wrestling, we've got the eight national championship banners and that's it. Plus we took care of business against you this year and were the better team the past couple seasons.

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 06:59 AM) At times it's been foul trouble, but like even nights like last night where he stays out of foul trouble, he usually ends up on the bench for a Mike Sweetney. Last night, he stayed out of foul trouble, they let him play a lot of minutes, and what do you know? If Tyrus gets his shot AND does his part (stays out of foul trouble), this team is actually dangerous. Dude, Sweets never plays so if you want to argue skiles is ruining Tyrus than at least make a valid argument and don't give me this crap he plays Sweetney more than Tyrus. Skiles has done a good job with Tyrus. We've seen him grow a ton as a player in just his rookie season. We all knew he'd be raw but the improvements he's made have been tremendous as of late and call me crazy but I'm going to credit Tyrus for his hard work and Skiles and the rest of the coaching staff as well. -

QUOTE(tigerfan @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 12:03 PM) Anyone else having issues with it? I can't get the games to play. I get audio but no video (sans ads). Just a frozen screen. Works superior than mlb.tv for me. Albeit the quality of the picture isn't as good as mlb.tv. -
The South Bracket (San Antonio)

Memphis is waking up. On fire all of a sudden after North Texas had a lead mots of the first half. Now they are on a 14-2 run and up by 9 with a minute left in the first half. -
I'll be cheering for the Hawks tonight @ the Honda center.

Tank Johnson gets 120 Days in Jail
Chisoxfn replied to chimpy2121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
That is way more than people typically get for violating probation (I know this because my buddies brother with two strikes got a whopping month and a half in prison). Albeit none of his charges involved weapons. -
Yes to being unassigned today at work. Its basically a day off where I'm relaxing at the office with ncaa on demand on right now and mlb.tv on watching the Sox game later on today. Definitely makes up for having to work from 6:30 AM till 10:30 PM yesterday.

Alright, I haven't been able to get in here but I thought this was a great move by the O's. I also think it is ridiculous to compare Iguchi and Roberts. No offense to Iguchi and I realize two years ago was a complete career year, but regardless Roberts is a better ball player. He's as good of a hitter as Iguchi, a better defensive 2nd baseman (albeit not by that much) and a superior base-runner/base stealer. Roberts is one of those guys I would have loved to pickup. That said I like Iguchi a lot and he's a very solid 2nd baseman (i put him in that Adam Kennedy mode to where he's above average as 2nd baseman goes but very underappreciated).

ATTENTION KEEPER LEAGUE PLAYERS!!!
Chisoxfn replied to ZoomSlowik's topic in PTC/Contest/Fantasy Board
Zoom...are we stlil short a player? Let me know because my buddy is raring to go if a spots available. And thank goodness, I thought I had screwed the pooch (thinking the draft was on Wed) cause I hadn't set everything. I'll be able to make the draft on Saturday and I got my list of players set up. Thanks for all the hard work. -

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 02:17 PM) Joshua Tree, but again NOT in the summer. I did a 6 hour mountain bike ride in Joshua tree in the summer about 6 years ago (when I was in far better shape) and after that ride I seriously thought I was going to die (it was a zillion degrees out and it was for boyscouts...about halfway through we were all wondering why in the hell we decided to do this). However Joshua tree is an awesome place as long as you go in the spring (before it gets ridiculously hot). You can go hiking and climbing all over the place and you can also rock climb. Very cool park. QUOTE(shoota @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) You don't need a passport to drive into Canada until January 2008. Though on returning to the States she'll need to show a birth certificate and driver's license. A passport is a good idea, but if she doesn't obtain one by your planned departure date, don't let it cancel your trip. I hear Illinois's own Starved Rock is a romantic getaway. You might want to look in to that. Is that new? I know I went in and out of Canada a few years back and never even had to show a drivers license.

QUOTE(shipps @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 02:28 AM) Am I the only one that gets nostalgic when it first gets warm and the time has changed? First gets warm...its been in the mid 70's the past 10 days out here My soccer team now has a two game winning streak....after losing our first 5 games of the season, this was quite a feat!!!!!!

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 07:38 AM) Claire never even knew her father's name, so I'd be a bit of a stretch for them to just figure it out without the others telling them. I believe in the preview for next week that there was a very angry Locke holding a gun and shouting "I'm not here for Jack!" Ya, I think that he's there for revenge because he was one of the few that trusted the head honcho over at the others camp and I think it is similar to when Locke trusted the kid at the drug farm (he's been burned too many times and he's out for revenge and the kill).

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 04:29 AM) That was another good episode. It will be interesting as Desmond's secret gets less and less secret, how that gets handled. You know people aren't going to be able to keep something that good to themselves. Locke has his weekly run of "I did it my way"'s, which ended up killing the Russian, not to mention really putting an odd distrust in the air. Where did he find the C-4 exactly if he never went into the basement, and why didn't he tell anyone else? There is something we don't know going on there, and its getting to the point where I don't really trust him. He totally avoided Kate when she asked about him about saving Jack. The scene are the barrier was pretty cool. Part of me was wondering if the death scene was a fake job, except that was pretty convincing with the blood out of the ears and such. They haven't done the whole fake death thing yet, but it still wouldn't surprise me. The revelation about Clair and Jack being sibs took long enough to happen. I caught that when they tipped it earlier a season or two ago, but it was nice to have in the open. I wonder how long until they figure it out? Remember, Locke was the last to leave the house so he probably found the C-4, took some of it and knowingly blue the flame up. What the reasons were, we don't know. I also found it very interesting when people were about to find out about Locke being paralyzed the Russian died. I wonder if he's hiding it for some strange reason. The episode was relatively weak though until the end which was just WOW. Lost has gotten too spread out and is trying to involve too many characters and I think they are best going back to the basics. Over the first two seasons they got us attached to a certain group of lead characters and than some of those characters died and I like adding new ones but I think those additions should be secondary and not the focal point of various episodes (do little smaller side ones and slowly develop newer characters or less popular ones). Just my opinion and I truly think the main reason I complain is this show was so so good for the first two seasons. Also this long break hurt the show big time cause it killed the momentum. I was digging season 3 up until the break and than things simmer. I just hope it can survive and get the momentum churning again.

QUOTE(StatManDu @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 07:14 PM) Fellow Sox Fans, I saw Jenks pitch today and I thought his sole purpose was to work on his breaking pitch. He threw it in all situations in the count and didn't look too interested in unleashing the trademark fastball. I was watching at work so I had the sound down so I am not sure if Hawk or Zzzzzzzzz.J. talked about that. www.whitesoxalmanac.com It would make sense. He really hasn't thrown any breaking pitches all of camp so I think its a good sign that he's feeling good enough to start focusing on his breaking stuff so he can get a feel of that by the start of the season.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 07:28 PM) Don't tell that to Jason Gage. He'll cut you. Ya, I've long been the guy that said he has more power potential than anyone in the org (with the possible exception of Chris Carter and well I used to say Brandon Allen but he was so freaking terrible last year that I can't say his name without being embarassed). Unfortunately Carter may be the next Collaro as opposed to the next Troy Glaus (thats the type of power I think Carter has). And no by all means I Think the odds of Collaro figuring it out and turning into a 40 hr hitter at the major league level are extremely low, but I do think he has the ability, if he was able to figure out how to hit for a decent average, cut the k's and post a high OBP to be a pretty good money ball type player (on the very high end...its just the odds of him reaching it are very very low).

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 07:53 PM) The only question I have is why Dewon Day is on that list? There's other guys who could have been in instead of him. I feel he is alittle too old to be considered a spect at 26 yrs. (going on 27 this year) The same could be said about Rogo even though I don't mind him being on though. I'll say this..Day does make the top 25 and if you want to blame anyone for him being on there I'd be the one to blame. But from the people I've talked to and from what I've seen the org thinks pretty highly of Day (for a prospect thats 26, so I'm not saying he's a guaranteed star or even a guaranteed major leaguer) but you just can't teach the juice he's got on the heater and he's really made strides with his delivery and tempo as of late.

Sox hire Jason Gage away from a large CPA firm to be the asst. general manager. In the press conference, Gage says he swears he won't "Gage" the Sox.
