  1. Is the NFL going pay-per-view or something? I'd just continue to go to the bar every Sunday like I do anyway (well when the Bears aren't on national tv in my area). I spend 10 bucks, get to watch the Bears game with my buddies (and all the other games on other tv's in the bar) plus get a meal.
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 12:00 AM) The Bulls are just an inconsistent bunch right now. The defense has fallen off dramatically from a year ago. Its cause they have zero defensive presence in the low post.
  3. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 07:07 PM) Unless he cuts down his strikeouts, he will be another Mike Cameron. I know Jason has been a huge fan of Young for a while, with good reason, but to say at worst he'll be Mike Cameron is an overstatement IMO. Let's not forget that Mike Cameron is a pretty damn good MLB player. I saw a guy from Baseball Prospectus the other day on ESPN News talking about Young and he seemed to believe the same thing I do, Young is a high ceiling guy, but the strikeout numbers are disturbing. Young is an awesome combination of power and speed nontheless and was the major chip for us to acquire Vazquez. I think his defense would be slightly less than that of Cameron's. I tend to like him to on the downside (if he doesn't totally bust) to Mike Cameron and on the upside Andruw Jones (not as good defensively, but I think he can do similar things when it comes to power and steals). Jones is flat out the man defensively. Notice I say if he doesn't totally bust out. I say that because I either see Young totally stinking it up or becoming a pretty good player. I don't see him having a "mediocre" career. I'm not worried as much about his strikeouts because he hits the ball hard and he has a good eye. If he were to play in the majors right now, he wouldn't hit for much of an avg, but you'd still see a good number of xtra base hits and he'd contribute in other ways, imo.

    Nip/Tuck S3 Ep11

Anne Heche couldn't be the killer, she came in too late. I agree though, she annoyed me, I was so happy last week when things went semi back to normal, only to set up the season finale which should be great. The worse part is, I thought I had gotten away from the show (I DVR it, but didn't watch the 1st 4 weeks when finally I was home and there was nothing else on so I checked it out and got sucked back in). Bobolit seems like the perfect person, not too obvious and a name that people that have watched the show would know. It will be cool to see the girl matt hit back in the episode. Who knows it could still be a total shocker and will be one of those smaller roles (in terms of how much time they spent on tv) but it was one of those people that was talked about often. Either way, they've done there job, they've created quite a few threads on here and I'm sure plenty of other sites.
  5. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) If it makes you feel better, I think both of you are reaching a little bit. I'd say, realistically, he's a 20/30 guy. Based on his minor league statistics, Mike Cameron seems like a good comparison. Decent average, good power, very good speed, lots of strike outs. But who knows? This is just my opinion, of course, but to predict 30/30, 40/40, or him hitting 50 homers, when you haven't even seen him against major league pitching, sounds a little overboard if you ask me. There is a reason why he's ranked by some to be one of the 10 best prospects in baseball. The guy has some serious power and he shattered all kinds of records this year in Bham (a total pitchers park). The guy has one of those "live" bats.
  6. I love coming home, knowing that I'm about to go out and drink to say yes, I'm done with finals.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) If it's Sean, the show is over. I just think Merril Bobolit is just so perfect. If the Carver turns out to be someone off the wall and they have to stretch to tie all the evidence together (especially the condom found at the scene of the Rhea Reynolds murder) I'm gonna be pissed off. The killer has to have motive and be understandable, no cheap way out, I've invested way too much time into this show to have there be so many loose ends in the finale. I'm with you. I don't want for it to be Sean or Christian and I don't think it would. Bobolit makes perfect sense to me. One question, what happened to the transvestite (I forget her name). I remember when Matt and her finally ended it and her son committed suicide, but did she die. If she didn't (remember she's still a man in a sense), than thats the only other person I could see it being (if it was going to be someone who has played a big role in the show at one point in time).
  8. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) How come when I say he's a possible 40/40 guy, I get mocked, but when you say he'll hit 30-40 and possibly 50 HR's, nothing is said to you? I'd assume its because I'm pretty familiar with the farm system, plus I have a history of being pretty accurate when it comes to evaluating prospects (well I don't overhype them usually, Young may be the one exception cause I've been oozing and raving about him for a few years).
  9. QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) Broxton struggled in his late MLB call up. Those struggles could make LA weary of keeping him. Yet one month isn't everything. His pro career seems impressive up to that point 13 innings, 13 hits and like 19 k's. He gave up some runs, but the Dodgers were raving about the kid. This guy is basically Jenks Jr. Doesn't have the other pitches Jenks has, but has upper 90's fastball and he hits 100 on ocassion. Isn't just a FB guy though, but still has to work on his command (as does Jenks). But he's 6-4 and like 260 pounds and is a converted starter.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) I hear ya, and Broxton is another guy that I thought of. If Kenny is looking to trade Jon for young arms the Dodgers for sure make the most sense. Of course I find it highly unlikely that Kenny is going to do that. I could see him dealing for a good major leaguer and a grooming closer (in the minors) but I can't see him going the prospect route (although those prospects could either help him in a year or two or be used at the deadline).
  11. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) Billingsley and Miller was actually the package I was thinking of. Miller was pretty damn solid last year actually but he's not the elite prospect that he was though he's still pretty damn good. You get an elite pitching spect and another damn good one and that's not bad at all. Miller rehabed his arm and was really good last year (once he got rolling). If his stuff is back a package of the two of them would be nice, but I'd like to find a way to get an arm that we could immediately throw into the pen as well. Thats the reason I like Broxton.
  12. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) If he's lucky, another Mike Cameron. Imo, aside from him totally busting, thats the worse he'll be.
  13. QUOTE(greg775 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) If he's this good a prospect, shouldn't we have gotten somebody better for him? That's all I'm asking. If he's this great why did we have to include 3 players in the deal? The Sox wanted to give up Duque because of money and for all I know that was the same reason Viz was part of it.

QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) Unless his dad is Sean or Bobolit, you are wrong. It'll be crazy if it turns out to be Sean.
  15. Done...thank goodness.
  16. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) agreed I Hell considering the names that were mentioend, I could see some sort of package. Or the Sox could ask for less (Cause I doubt the Dodgers would give up both of those prospects, who I may add would probably be 2 of the 10-15 best in baseball). Hell, I think the Dodgers would have interest in Garland and if you think of the Sox needs what about Billingsley or Guzman plus Jonathan Broxton (the reliever). Broxton could come in and develop as a reliever (he'd be ready, imo). Plus the Sox would be getting some depth for the minors (in Billingsley or Guzman) either of which would instantly become our #1 prospect. The guy is almost Jenks Jr. (in terms of big heavy set guy who can throw the piss out of the ball). I forget just how loaded the Dodgers are. Plus Greg Miller was looking good near the end of his season (which started late thanks to some injuries). Dodgers have a lot of different options (and good ones at that) if the Sox are going to go the way of prospects with Garland.
  17. Didn't you or someone else post this a while back? Its somewhere I know that.
  18. QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) Bob Nightengale posted that LA was looking at Zito. If they'd want one rent a player, why not Garland? http://www.usatoday.com/sports/bbw/columni...14-majors_x.htm The Dodgers should make a run at winning now. Esp in that division. That team has to be one of the top contenders for him, esp. as they have a good minor league system If we got Billingsley and Guzman for him, I'd scream like a girl in excitement. Those two are two of the very best in baseball. Its the one circumstance where I'd deal Garland for prospects (well one of the few).

    My rant

I agree Kenny has taken chances. I've long said if Thome isn't healthy thats a horrid move. If Thome ends up being healthy and putting up two more 40 HR seasons (I can live with the 3rd year being a wash due to injuries simply because two 40 hr seasons would be well worth it). As far as Vazquez goes, I hated giving up Young, especially cause I'm not a vazquez guy. I put faith in Coop and Ozzie working there magic. I hope that with Vazquez in a place he wants to be (and happy) that he'll figure out how to better utilize his stuff. I do think that he's a good starter and I was glad to see us get rid of Duque. The one thing that I'm worried about with next year (aside from injuries) is our bullpen. Its seriously a lot weaker and I love Tracey's stuff but I don't like asking rooks to come in and be a major part of the club right away. It looks like we may be relying on him and Baj. I think both are capable, but you also have Hermy (whose hurt), Politte (coming off a major career year), Jenks (has had arm trouble in the past and has dynomite stuff, but could see a regression), and Cotts (a total horse). Its not the deep pen it once was. If we brought in another good reliever, I'd be a lot happier.
  20. Very good in terms of prospects. He's got the ability to be a perennial all star, but at the same time he has the chance to belly up. I don't see him busting and I see him turning into a 30-40 HR CFer, with potentially 50 HR power who will compete for gold gloves and hit for high avg's. Ie, I think he's going to be great, but the odds of him actually fullfilling all that, not that great. Thats his ceiling though (ie, he's a high ceiling guy).
  21. QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) Footwork supposedly quite improved in AFL, For what that's worth. I think Blalock's footwork is pretty good though. I have my doubts on Fields, but he really made progress as the season progressed last year. He has the tools, although I think the Sox are rushing them if they send him to AAA. Plus the Knights park does awful things to a hitters swing (at least it seems to).
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Houston has some high level pitching prospects don't they? Carlos Hernandez seems to ring a bell, but I don't know their system at all. That was a few years back. Lefty IIRC, but he's had injury problems and was in the majors a few years ago. Haven't heard anything about him in a while though.
  23. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 04:56 PM) I think you are saying what they should want. THe Soriano for Kazmir offer suggests something else That offer could just be BS speculation by the media though. The media reports a lot of crap.
  24. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) No disagreement there. Wood is in that class with Delmon Young and pretty much no one else. Here's a legitimate question, and mind you it loses some steam as the Rays won't be able to sign Garland to an extension, but how about BJ Upton for Garland. They are yo-yo-ing Upton around as they have concerns with his erratic D. Just a thought. Another possible match is with Scott Kazmir. This is more realistic. Kazmir was offered for Alfonso Soriano (who is in the identical boat as Garland in terms of contract and resignability). It wouldn't really solve the glut of starting pitchers but would give us a guy we can control for a long time The Drays don't want a pitcher like Garland. They can't resign him. They want pitchers like McCarthy, young guys who they would control there rights for at least a few years. Basically put the Drays wouldn't trade us Carl Crawford for Garland, let alone BJ Upton, they have zero interest in Jon. The only thing they'd do with Jon is trade him to another team.
  25. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) He very well may be because Stoneman has shown a reluctance for moving prospects that you don't see from Big market teams by and large. I do however think you could get someone near that ilk for Garland. I mentioned Wood because the Angels are a natural fit since he'd want to resign there and some of the Angels prospects (Mathis, Kotchman, Morales) play positions we won't trade for. I don't know as much about Hendrick or Aybar but I'm sure our scouting staff knows a bit about them Stoneman's an idiot, but he isn't going to trade Wood.
