Big Ten Tournament
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) Haluska is a damn good player, i like watchin him play. However, i hate Alford and Iowa, so i'll be pulling for the classy Izzo in this one. I think Alford is a good recruiter and I think he's smart, but thus far he's failed miserably at Iowa. I always wonder what would of happened had Recker been healthy because him and Reggie Evans were some force and should of made some noise in the tourney. I'm hoping this whole Pierce situation is the motivating force to get Iowa back on track but if they lose then he gets canned and well no biggie. As far as Iowa goes, I'm torn. I think the big 10 is weak in the middle but at the same time I think other conferences are being way overhyped. MSU, Illinois and Wisconsin are all good teams, MSU and Ill being two teams that could go deep. In the middle you have a lot of teams with talent that just haven't clicked. I'm telling everyone Iowa has the talent, even without Pierce, its more of a sense of them clicking and playing right which I think they can. Just one senior on the squad and he isn't much of a player at all. They are a team built to do somethings the next couple years, imo. But no, they shoudln't get in unless they beat MSU or play really damn good against em. In which case IU would have to lose (if they lose but only play really good). I think it helps that you have some of the other bubble teams playing bad and hurting there chances. A week ago I'd of told you know way the Hawks deserve in but the recent winning streak has me thinking otherwise. 20 wins, a lot of big wins against tourney bound clubs, and talent. The only thing going against them and its a big thing is their conference record.

Big Ten Tournament
I'm also gonna rehash: Texas, Louisville, Texas Tech (By 30), Northern Iowa (should be tourney bound), ISU, Ohio State, Indiana, and two good games against the Illini.

Big Ten Tournament
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) Solid. Hope you can find the game somewhere. Thanks, I sure as hell hope I don't show up to watch an asswhooping. I'm getting pumped about the Hawks cause they have a really good young nucleus and Pierce getting dropped has meant Haluska (sophmore) is getting more minutes and the guy is gonna be a stud. Was a state champ in sprinting or something along those lines and has very good size. Stole him from ISU where he transferred from God damn if Iowa can pull this one off they better get in. And for whoever said they have been playing bad since losing Pierce, all I can say is they lost like the first two but since then they have been winning again (4 in a row). However two of those wins were Purdue, one Michigan and then the one OSU won. But I think they are gelling and still have Brunner, Horner, Haluska, Hansen (very good defensive center), Mike Henderson and some young freshman that names escape me (one of them is Alex Thompson who was I think Iowa player of the year last year in high school).

I'm kind of confused. The IU game is gonna end around 1:30 yet the Iowa game is slated for 3:30 or will it start sooner?

Big Ten Tournament
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) You find a sports bar yet Jas NOt yet, was looking to see if the game would be online somehow. But I think I'm gonna go to the one I usually go to watch the Bears. I just don't know if they do basketball so I'm gonna call em. I am getting ready to eat but if I go to the bar I'd probably eat there. They got a killer cheesesteak.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) Bruce Weber's mom fell ill on the way to the game and went to the hospital. She is having some kind of surgery. Bruce is headed there now. Please pray for her health. Ya, they showed him leaving the arena about 5 minutes ago on ESPN. Hopefully the surgery will go fine.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) Thats a very good question, for anyone that watched, who was it that was playing so horrible? Was it everyone or just certain players in particular? Sean May only had like 2 points midway into the 2nd half. He played bad. But he was getting triple teamed too. They were all awful defensively and because of it they weren't able to get there usual transisition points for most of the game which is what UNC does so good. So they were stuck playing a lot of half court basketball which isn't UNCs game.

Stud catching prospect available
OR did the Sox just sign Escobar after he cleared waivers? But whatever they did with him they could do with House. And your probably right Mike. You need the open spot and then can put the guy on the DL.

Ya, Clemson played hard but UNC finally played like the team they are the final few minutes. Good god did Felton play huge. When he hit that three from deep the game was over. And McCants had two huge 3's down the stretch. Big win for UNC cause McCants can get some more action before the dance. I just wonder how his legs will hold up since he has dropped like 10 pounds.

ACC Tournament Predictions
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) Wow, down 14 to a 7 point win in about 15 minutes. Carolina is the one team that I can see matching up really well with Illinois. Problem is we will see if they can keep their heads in these games to get that far in the tourney. I think Sean May will be the difference when the two teams meet. I really think that is gonna be the national title matchup.

ACC Tournament Predictions
Who would of figured they would come back the way they were playing. There was one difference in the end and that was that UNC started playing some defense and was forcing turnovers left and right which led to transistion baskets (what UNC does best). IU-Minn now started, locked up at 9. Its gonna be a good one. I picked a good day to take off work

Can't wait for Star Wars 3?

Bubble Talk
QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) i still dont see how they could possibly reach over Minn with a 10-6 big ten record for Iowa with a 7-9 BT record Only one reason...Iowa has more big wins then any of them. They also have more bad losses and the poor conference record, but I don't think the committee would look past the fact that Iowa has beaten quite a few tourney bound teams and a win over MSU would further that resume.

ACC Tournament Predictions
Ya, I was watching the Illini game for the most part and they just hammered NU but good god is Clemson clobbering UNC. I haven't seen them do anything good all game pretty much (well i've only been watching the 2nd half).

Clemson is gonna win. UNC is playing god awful defense and defense is what wins championships. Clemson is playing there collective asses of. On a sidenote, I would think this would help Maryland.

ACC Tournament Predictions
All I can say is what a game Clemson is playing. They are beating the piss out of UNC in every facet of the game. Right now everytime the ball goes down to May the entire defense collapses and he's getting triple teamed and they are failing to kick the ball out and even when they do UNC is missing the shots. They are gonna lose this one. I keep waiting to see UNC kick it up a notch but they are playing absolute GARBAGE defense and offensively they haven't gotten a quick transistion basket in a while. Bout 7 minutes to play and Clemson is up by double digits.

Brian Anderson to start in AAA
QUOTE(Randar68 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) How is said WSI poster mistaken if he got it directly from Brian's mouth? Brian could be mistaken, sure. However, being borderline ready for MLB now, I doubt he is wrong. Well I should of said it a little better. I think Anderson may be mistaken. Now odds are he goes to Charlotte, although if I were in charge he'd be getting more AB's in AA because he still has some flaws to work on and didn't do as good as I'd like to see him do in Bham to warrant a promotion. Although part of that definately had to do with some injuries that hampered him late last year. But players don't know at this point, they can soley speculate. In his case maybe he was told but I think thats simply where he feels he will be and your right he'll probably be there, but I wouldn't be one to complain if he got two months in Bham. He's not going to play in the majors this year unless something really bad happens on the southside (well he may be a sept call-up, but thats it, imo).

John Sickels
Has Sickels gone mad? Saying that Rogo is a power guy? Rogo is a hitter, but last season was the first year he showed much any power and still he projects as a 15-20 guy at this point although he's strong enough that those projections could change, but he's done nothing at this point to show that he'll be a 30 HR type guy. Sickels is definately right in in regards to Whisler. He's gonna be a project and I think he's saying something similar to I in Anderson. I Think Anderson will be good, great...no. Mainly I think the Sox are nuts because they are rushing him. He didn't blow up AA and some more seasoning will do him some good, especially since he won't be playing as a starter in the majors this year unless some really bad things happen on the southside.
