Spring training info thread
I've never stayed at the Loews Bantana, but I've eaten breakfast there before and its damn good. I just remember the chorizo and eggs was freaking delicous. Your definately right about it being a nice hotel. If I remember right its like right in the hills and you can kind of walk these trails into the hills.

Iron Chef
Haven't watched it in a few years, but I only saw the old one (hell I didn't even know there was a new one) and it was always pretty interested. I can't say I'd ever eat what they could, but my favorite one was the one with the squid or whatever it was. It was crazy how the stuff kept squirming while getting boiled.

Mike Morse
Morse was part of the Freddy Garcia deal and is now in the Mariners organization. He has a good deal of raw potential and really made some big strides this year. I still think he's a couple years off, but I think he'll get to the majors at some point although I don't know how long is tenure will be.

Foregin Cars vs American Cars
At this point I think it is. There are the rare exceptions where the manufacturers still import the cars over but thats pretty much few and far between at this point. In fact, like you mention, many japanese or foreign manufcatures produce more of there cars in the US then the US automanufacturers. Personally I own a Honda and used to say I'd never buy anything but American, but I love that damn car and my next car will probably once again be a Honda. Just haven't had any problems with it.

Fox News Spawns Hate for Canada
QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) I watched a documentary the other day on the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) about US media considering accusations of right winged media and left winged media. Anyways the documentary would obviously appear left wing slanted, but they seemed to come to the conclusion that it was contrary to current popular belief a right wing media . You can refute that if you want but the point of this point is to attack people like Bill O'Reilly and Anne Coulter. These two people, as displayed in this documentary didn't seem to have any intelligence what so ever, and blatantly hate on Canada like we are an enemy. Basically I have declared war on FOx News as they blast us relentlessly and it's in my opinion unf***ingacceptable. LOL Just know that pieces of s*** like those two are lower than the quality of this post and they do more to further the hate for your own country as well as ours by you. Get rid of them. article about O'Reilly respoding to the documentary http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/20...illy050129.html Umm, I didn't read the article, but a little over a week ago O'Reilly was talking about US Hate in other countries and was saying a lot of nice things about Canada because on the most part they actually like America and Americans. It was a pretty damn high percentage compared to Europe, mainly France.

Iraqi Election Thread
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,145808,00.html There are some attacks being reported but this seems to be going far better than most had hoped. The Iraqi people are showing some real courage today going out and voting despite insurgent threats to "wash the streets with the blood of voters". One of the most inspiring things about this was a report I heard that literally thousands of people are walking several miles in some cases to go to the polls. If this election can go fairly well and they can get some good turnout then maybe Iraq can truly turn a corner. I really hope this day goes better then most thought. It would be such a huge step.

Top 10 Pitching Prospects
QUOTE(farmteam @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 08:23 AM) Not really. Those guys are a bit bigger names. I do think BMac would make a Top 15 or Top 20 list, though. By the way, Miller is a beast. I'm going to hate having to face him in a few years. In last year's playoffs, he hit 101. Also, he's only 19, maybe 20 by now, and is already dominating. Ya, when I was in Kanny last year we just missed Miller's start by one and I was talking with the Intimidators media guy and announcer and he was just talking about how sick Miller was. Then later in the year I think Miller was up and pitched against WS and was again just absolutely filthy. Guy has a heck of an arm.

Top 10 Pitching Prospects
I'm surprised Nienman is already in his top 10. Other then that I think most scouting services won't put Bmac in that echelon until he steps up with another strong year at the higher levels. I think he will and he will then be on the radar as one of the 10 best pitching prospects in all of baseball. We shall see though.

Everett a fit for the Cubs?
I don't see a problem keeping Everett around because he's in great shape and when thats the case he's going to have a big year if he stays healthy. Of course he's also going to be DH'ing primarily until Frank comes back but could play left field (and only left field) in a pinch or if someone struggles. For example if Dye goes down you'll see Rowand shift to right and I think you'll even see that in instances when Dye takes a day off, imo. Although you could of course see Timo or Gload or someone else instead of Arow moving.

Rumor: Sox & Dodgers talking trade
Well I'm a Weaver fan but I don't see this type of move happening unless the Dodgers pick up a heck of a lot of payroll because of Weaver's contract. However, that being said, I wouldn't mind having another pitcher of Weaver's caliber on the southside. I'd have to think it would be part of a bigger deal though and I don't a chance in hell of it happening. Another team would have to be involved.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 08:39 PM) I watched King Arthur tonight. It was pretty good, I guess I was expecting a little more though, but that's how it goes sometimes. I just watched that like a night ago. I thought it was going to be horrible based on what friends told me, but it wasn't too bad. It was far from great, but enjoyable soley because I'm semi interested in the whole king arthur spiel.

Ya, I thought it was really funny. Not the normal kind of funny, but more ironic funny I so to speak. Like I mentioned in the movie thread, it was a really good movie, definately worth the few bucks to rent it.

Hankins Signs With Yankees Personally I think this is a loss because I like Hankins. He will be a good bench player in the majors.

Spring training info thread
QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) The quote function is still baffling quickman ... his input is listed below: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I was 21 I always wanted to go to museums, trail dust towns and canyon tours. Please.... tucson is a mice town. The catalinas are filled with great spa hotels which I prefer and the AZ campus area is surrounded by bars and food joints and plenty of women. Outside hte campus area there are many great resteraunts, golf courses and places to hang out. its a damn college town, if you can't figure something to do in a college town then something is wrong with you. For the older and possibly more wealthier crowd after baseball ahng out in the resort area in the catalina's. Plenty of golf, Tennis, food, upper end bars, health clubs, spa's and mid 30's women. Have fun --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A mice town? Seeing as this site is populated by all ages and genders, there's a possibility some here might be interested in some of the attractions listed. Probably not, but it's possible. But if a lack of 3 a.m. or 4 a.m. liquor licenses means dullsville to some, I guess Tucson is dullsville. Like he said though, have fun. Oh and I should mention, two great bars appealing to the around 21 crowd that are not walking distance from campus ... Bob Dobbs where you will see players, and The Trident which is a student hangout. Both highly recommended. But watch out for the "mice" Lol, I was wondering what he was quoting. I just thought he wanted to emphasize what you said, but we know that couldn't be the case
