Delgado is a Marlin
Good for the Marlins. I'm curious to see how they fit him in salary wise or if they are fine as is. My guess is they'll need to move someone.

spring training
Hell ya I'll be going. I think this will be about my 8th year out there. Its a total blast. Not sure when I'm going but it will be within the first three weeks of spring training. I'll end up catching two Sox games and two other games while staying in the Phoenix area. If anyone hasn't been and can go, go, its probably the thing I look forward to most every year.

One more need
Graffy flat out makes sense. He can back up at 3 positions, is familiar with the Sox, and was well liked by management. I think he really enjoyed his time in Chicago too. He wanted to be a starter, but he's best suited as a super utility guy. Adding him would be phenomenal, but I think it would also put an end to the Willie Harris era because Graffy would be getting most at bats off the bench when it came to the infield and I could see them going with Valdez as the other infielder. If the Sox deal Willie I'll be a little ticked though because I do think Willie is going to have a good career and I'd like to get something good for him.

Yahoo Fantasy Baseball sign ups!!!
I'm happy in the Keeper league. I'm going to make a thread this week and get everyone's keepers for sure and then find which team slots are opening.

Iguchi's production
I'm looking for a .270/.340 with 15 HR's and roughly 60 RBI. I look at things from a minimum perspective and if he's starting he should be able to do this.

I know Iguchi
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) i dont think we will sign him this offseason but if Crede sucks again maybe next year as a stopgap until Fields is ready. I read about that 3B from Japan b4 he wants more money than Iguchi did at first. I dont' think he'd be signed to be a starter, rather as a backup plan if things dont' work out well. How much money is this guy looking for? I'm guessing he wouldn't be looking for big bucks and would have to settle for fighting for a potential backup spot? Or can he actually play all infield positions, specifically 3rd/SS/2nd? If he could then I definately see why they would bring the other guy in.

I know Iguchi
Hey Welcome aboard and thanks for this info. Its great getting info from people who have seen him. I have modest expectations of him, but I do think he'll come and be fundementally sound and hopefully adjust to the fastball like I recall a major league pitcher saying he'll need to do if he will suceed at the majors. I think it was Ray King who said this, but not positive.

Bobby Jenks
Nope, he's one big son of a buck. Thats probably part of the reason he can throw 100+ when healthy but who knows what he'll be throwing after coming back from his injury. Hopefully the stuff will still be there.

More dominos to fall?
Look for Graffy to be the final piece. I could see Graffy for one of the Sox AAA guys. Maybe a reliever like Baj could get the job done. But that would be my guess. Kenny and JR always liked him and he'd be a great asset off the bench. I do think this could be the end of Willie, but I doubt it, because regardless he's good insurance at 2nd and CF.

Tadahito Iguchi Signed
This is a really good move. And no, Iguchi shouldn't be in the 2 hole out of the gate, give the guy time to adjust to the majors without having tons of pressure on him. Kind of like the Sox gave Shingo time to adjust. It may not happen right away and I think the Sox are best sticking with Iguchi in the 9 slot and going with Uribe in the 2 hole. Then you have Rowand (a better run producer then Uribe, imo) in a run production slot. Great offseason Kenny

Tadahito Iguchi Signed
Fantastic move. I wake up to something like this after a 6 hour drive last night Since I can't read through this entire thread right now can someone tell me if the local media has picked this up?

Dwayne Pollok & Sean Tracey
Tracey = Stud prospect by next year in my book. This guy progressed tremendously over the past season and throws a power fastball and slider iirc. I have it in my notes somewhere but not 100% the slider aspect. Also worked on adding the change to his repetoire. He's not afraid to pitch inside and has what I'd deem a rubber arm at this point. The guys a horse and if he develops like I think he will, him and Bmac will be 1/2 pitcher wise in this organization and both have front of the rotation stuff (1-3 spots). In regards to Pollock, he's an agressive guy. Solid closer, questionable major league prospect at this point. Has a good arm but doesn't top the gun. Slider is nice. I think he'll do quite well in Bham and my guess is they are interested in using him as the closer or at the very least a setup role?

Mike Spidale
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) im not a minor league expert but in my opinion i see spidale, Borchard, and escobar at AAA and than Sweeney, Anderson, and Rogo at AA. Personally I'd keep Anderson in AA for a little longer, basically the similar path that I'd like to see BMAC on. I think both could use some more seasoning before making the jump to Charlotte, plus I figure why rush them when I don't expect either to be bolstered into major league roles this season so the best thing to do is prepare them and to me letting them get some more time in AA would be wise. I think Anderson would fall pretty flat in AAA and Bmac may hold his own, but to move him to a hitters park like Charlotte this quick just wouldn't be wise.

Bobby Jenks
He will start in A ball or that would be my guess. I'm thinking he'll start throwing sometime during spring, maybe get in some practice games but my guess is he breaks camp and stays in extended spring training for a couple weeks as the Sox are going to be very careful with his arm. As far as his future goes, he has a chance to be an AWESOME closer, but it depends on his health just as much as it depends on his head and the chances of both working out may not be too likely, but if it does, the guy will be VERY VERY SPECIAL.

Iguchi very close to signing a 2 yr deal?
Your attachment area is probably full. Your allowed like 10 MB, so go in and delete all that stuff in your control panel and then you'll be able to attach things again no problem.

Soxtalk.com has promoted former Testing Board and How Does it Work mod Gashwound, to a position of "modship" at the Sports Bar. Gash, or called Gashie by Heather Lee and unfortunately myself (LOL) has been a hell of a poster and always treats other posters with respect. So Gashie

2005 Birmingham Barons
Just gonna add my two cents. C - My guess is they go with a veteran 1B - Hinton 2nd - Lopez/Gonzo SS - Gonzo/Lopez 3rd - Fields LF - Rogo CF - Anderson RF - Sweeney DH/Utility - Thomas Brice (He'll probably get quite a bit of field time as well) Rotation Bmac Tracey Heath Phillips Not going to garner who the other starters are but Meaux, or Bull could potentially fit in there although hopefully they make it to Charlotte. You could also see Lumsden get pushed, but I'd like to see him get more time in A ball. Bullpen will probably have Matt Smith as one of the anchors. Once again its a tough call because most likely the guys that juts miss Charlotte's squad will slide in and fit in as pretty good relievers with the Barons. I think the Barons will have a fun team to watch.
