QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) That may be true, but the top OTs in this draft can be had in the 20s in the first round. There are more skill position players to be had in this draft than I can remember in a long time. I don't know. The two names I hear are that Alex Barron or whatever out of Florida and D'Brickshaw. Most mock drafts I see have them going top 7. D'Brickshaw I've seen going as high as 3. But until the combines this is pure speculation. I know this, if Walter Jones finally gets to be unrestricted then the Bears need to do all they can to get him. However, if that doesn't happen, maybe offer the Bears 1st round to the Seahawks for Jones and there 1st and the Seahawks can grab the WR they need.

Hey Juggs As far as the ignore feature, not many people are going to use it. But when two people just can't get along then by all means they should use the ignore feature. Sometimes that happens and this will be a nice way to keep those fights between the two people that don't get along from ever happening. As far as the posts options, go to your control panel and then board settings and you can change the post you see on the board and in the thread.

There is probably a good shot that maggs up on the northside though. If healthy he'll put up fantastic numbers there.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 08:42 AM) I honestly don't think Knight would consider it. He really left Bloomington with a bitter taste in his mouth. Ya right, Bobby Knight is never going to coach for IU again. Obviously they would go for Alford, but I don't think Alford takes the gig unless this Iowa team collapses. He finally has something going in Iowa and seems relatively happy there. He also has a nice contract situation and it will get very nice if this team plays like its capable of playing. -

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 07:35 AM) What is everyone's beef with Alford at Iowa? I know he has had some problems with players, but I really don't know any details. He seems to be finally turning things in the right direction, but I still hear negative things. What gives? Mainly because the team has underachieved a few years. I think most of the hatred over Alford stems from an off the court incident involving Pierre Pierce. It was a women charging him with ape or assault and Pierce was suspended but some stories broke out where Alford tried to get the chargers removed by talking to the girl or something along those lines. I don't remember the full story. Alford got ripped by many for it though. As a coach the team looks to be finally going up. He's been hampered with injuries and as a result depth issues the past couple years. It was kind of like the team would stay in the games and go to the bench and then get shelled. That or the starters would be out too long and they'd get creamed. I also think a lot of fans are upset because the team with Evans/Recker failed to go as far as it could of. That was a very very good college team and had Recker not had his knee injury who knows what could of happened. In general Alford can really make it up this year, but I think all Iowa fans are growing tired of not making the tourney. Hopefully it changes this year, but Alford's teams have done well in the past non-conference, I want to see them step it up and play well against the Big 10. First test comes tonight against Michigan. -
QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) Yeah, and the Astros offer is atleast 6 years 84 million Well 5/75 is a better offer then 6/84 in terms of a per season basis. I think Houston has a better offer out there though, not positive on that though.
-
Remember here. The Mets offer has yet to come in so the media can be wrong at that one. But if it does then sure the Cubs offer doesn't come close. I still think they made a rather fair offer. A couple weeks ago and Boras may of jumped at the deal when things were super quiet on the Beltran front.

I can't see Flozell getting cut, but I guarantee you, if at all possible Angelo will look to land a big time OT in FA cause then he can move down in the draft and focus on getting a few playmakers, mostly on the offensive side of the ball, but the Bears could use a LB as well. I don't know how much money they have, but if they can sign a stud LT in free agency and a solid WR, then they could move down in the draft, snag a LB, draft a WR early, and get a TE. The rest of the draft get depth in other areas.

Remember, its quite unlikely to get a guy thats a current OC unless his contract is up. For example the Eagles aren't going to let Childress just go and I highly doubt Childress gives up what he has in Philly to join the Bears rank. However an odd rumor going around is that the Bears are hot after Chargers OC Cam Cleeland. I have no idea if his contract is up or not. Linehan however made 300K last year and his contract is up. You know Tice's job is in jeapordy and McCombs is cheap (Tice only made like a million) and I highly doubt he'll give Linehan as good of an offer as he can get somewhere else. As far as Norv Turner goes. He's a WC guy and if you want to know how he runs his schemes take a look at the Raiders, who were pretty solid offensively once Collins settled in. They didn't even have much offensive talent either. Turner was also an OC in Miami and of course had his head coaching tenure in Washington (then he went to Miami and eventually Oakland). Turner runs a west coast offense and has used two variations of it. One focused on the run which was when he had Ricky in Miami, although there offense was still more then capable. It was how that team was built and the other molded around the pass. Then his brother Ron Turner, who got the can from Illinois, left the Bears for U of I and was probably the designer of one of the Bears best offenses, one that improved each of his 4 years on the job. Conway/Graham were the only Bears duo to each catch for 1000 yards in the same season with Kramer at the helm. I also think he was there the year Walsh led the Bears into the playoffs.

Ok I've figured it out even more. For those of you that like me saw two quote buttons, you need to clear your cache. It will naturally do it over time, but if you clear it now, then just hit refresh in a couple areas and you'll see everything like brand new.

Not that I know of. In the old version of the board software there were a couple of bugs in regards to Firefox, but now it rocks in my book. Plus firefox owns in general

In reference to the Sox waiting till Soxfest to announce something I find it highly unlikely as well as highly stupid. If they have two guys who have agreed to deals and are just waiting till Soxfest to ink them then assuming those guys have yet to sign the contract then the Sox are really risking another team coming in and snagging what they thought they had. Now if they can somehow be sly and sign both of them to deals or whoever the hell they are looking at to a deal and keep it quiet till Soxfest more power to them I guess. But I highly doubt it. Trust me, if the Sox were to sign Pyrz or someone else quality right now that buzz would carry over to fest.
-
I just don't see why the NY Post would know more about this issue then the local radio and news guys. Because of that I think everyone should caution themselves cause nothing is done yet. I'd fall over in shock if they signed Pyrz, Iguchi, and Nenn to deals...but I don't think the odds are great. I think they may have two more signings left in them and for sure they will go for a backup middle infielder, but the key to me is getting Pyrz. He's such a major upgrade over what the club has at that position. I can only hope.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 08:06 AM) Any update on whether we're going to get the normal black skin that we had previously before the board was upgraded? Maybe I'll surprise everyone and take care of it today...but its doubtful, lol. By the way for the people who couldn't see the 2nd quote box, there is something odd going on. On my browser at work (mozilla) I see the quote + and the normal quote. On my browser at home (mozilla) I see the quote+ and then a reply" For those that are seeing the reply" and were having trouble quoting, that is the button you should hit for a normal quoted reply.

Cool. Thanks for setting this up Steff

I can't figure it out. And I tried messing with the control panel area to remove it and was going through all the html and php code and could find nothing that would let me make the default unchecked. So either I'm going to remove that skin or you guys will have to uncheck the boxes until I figure out another way, which could be done tomorrow with a fresh mind. I just looked through all the html templates though and couldn't find anything for the quick post area.

Happy Birthday Rob. Hopefully all is well with you and your family. Have a kickass bday and maybe Pyrz or someone else will join the Sox on your bday
-
Ok, fantastic news. I've solved the issue. The reason your only getting some of the threads to show up in your subscription is because there is an error in the fast reply using the bordline gray theme. If you click on fast reply and then look below the type in box for the reply. You will see 3 check boxes, and all three are checked. However, the enable notification of replies should be unchecked, but for whatever reason the default on that theme has it checked. I'm going to either scrap that theme, try to find a way to change the default via the php, or hope you guys can find a way to change it in your control panels where it doesn't come up as a default. If you can, one of you give me a screen shot of your email controls portion of my controls and then I can maybe diagnose it there as well.
-
Also, another thing you want to check for. When you make a post on fast reply, is your default coming up with the Enable email notification of replies being unchecked?
-
Ok, I think we may be onto something here. Is anyone using the regular Default Skin getting this problem? Out of curiosity soxnbears, can you change to the default temporarily and see if the problem goes away. I'm pretty sure goldmember is using the borderline grey as well.

Ok, going to ask. What skin are you guys using? Maybe it somehow is stemming from the skin. I know I'm using just the plain skin. Are all of you using like dark grey or something? If so then I could isolate it to an issue with that. Goldie can you give me a screenshot of what your email controls look like. That way I'll check and see if mine match what you show.
-
s***...back to the drawing board Goldy and all the others experiencing the subscription problem. God this is pissing me off cause that has to be driving ya all nuts.
-
Thats good. I also made a change in the settings, so maybe that did it. If you start getting emailed again though, then I'm pretty sure it stems from that portion.
