  1. Everything I'm reading seems to indicate the Angels and Weaver are far apart. He's talking 10-11 mill and Boras is comparing him to PRior and the Angels are pretty much laughing. Also was going to point out the Mets finally came to terms with Humber from Rice. He'll get 4.12 guaranteed and could get as much as a little over 5 mill over his 5 year major league contract. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not much of a fan of these major league contracts cause it really seems to hurt the chances of a players development rather then help it. Just think of whats happened to Willy Mo Pena because of it. Instead of him getting plenty of ab's in the minors for a year or two, he was in the majors overwhelmed (for at least part of it) getting a lack of at bats as well as development. While the intent is to get you to the majors faster, I think it hurts the chances of a player sticking in the majors.
  2. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) My buddy Matt won as well. He is going to call up there and see what they can do because obviously we are not in the area to be able to go to the box office. Nice, we told you guys we'd be winners
  3. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 08:11 AM) Sox roster is full I believe, so anyone they'd add would have to be on a minor league deal or someone would be waived. The other interesting name out there for a minor league invite is Roberto Hernandez, they may be interested in seeing what he's got left, if anything. Doesn't seem to be any room in the bullpen but Hernandez is definitely a guy Ozzie knows. No clue as to whether RH would accept a minor league deal at this point. For me the key factor is infield depth and starting pitching depth. Jim, I think the idea behind it is a good one, however with the Sox 40 man roster in the situation it is, I just can't see them picking up a guy soley for corporate sponsorship reasons. I'm not too familiar with Daigle. I can't remember if I had heard his name before because I have read or heard someone say that he's a solid prospect or if its soley because her going out with Jennie Finch. However, the Sox still have at least one more guy to designate for assignment for the infielder they bring in and I think that seems to be a difficult enough task.
  4. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) Oh man, Steff's headband...i'm not going to say a word, just sit here and laugh. I'm sure steff is trying to delete all copies of those pictures
  5. I'll have to catch a replay of that.
  6. That had to be the craziest story I've ever read. I can't believe that it could possibly be true, but you never know. Entertaining none the less.
  7. They need to respect your stuff and pay there portion of the bills. And note, if they snore and your sharing a room, they need to learn not to snore, lol.
  8. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) For those of you that think saturday's game somehow proves Illinois will lose a few games this year...what a "great prediction" Still rolling, so everyone can keep talking and being unimpressed. Amuse yourselves i guess. Just remember what I told you will happen to the Illini on Thursday
  9. QUOTE(Manrique's Mustache @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) Speaking at a fan seminar Saturday at SoxFest at the Hyatt Regency, Guillen sounded set on a lineup of Podsednik leading off, followed by shortstop Juan Uribe, right fielder Jermaine Dye, first baseman Paul Konerko, designated hitter Carl Everett, Rowand, catcher A.J. Pierzynski, third baseman Joe Crede and second baseman Willie Harris. This line-up seems a bit off to me. I don't see how Rowand is not batting second. He deserves the shot for more AB's after last year hitting over .300. He should be swaped with Uribe. First off welcome aboard. Secondly, I think this lineup is relatively accurate simply because the White Sox want to move Rowand into a more production oriented position and having him hitting 6th is simply a benefit of the fact that this lineup has that type of ability. However, I think Rowands future spot will be the 3 hole, but I think the Sox want to give Ozzie some more time to develop into that spot. I do think that if Juan struggles, you'll quickly see Rowand back in the two hole. But the offseason is not done, so we shall see. The thing that really upset me was Rowand being rumored to be the left fielder and not the centerfielder.
  10. I think the Sox are gonna wait and see what PK does early in the season, but I wouldn't be surprised to see PK sign an extension that keeps him here another 3 or 4 years.
  11. Ross...mega props go out to ya. And idea I have and am going to throw around eventually is setting up some sort of charity auction with help from the White Sox or something. But I figure I'll have to wait till the site grows a bit more, but its an idea I have in my head and will do at some point.
  12. I pinned this post. Get Well Jerry.
  13. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) However, at least i didn't spill half a drink on myself at the bar. That honor would go to the one and only Jason. That same night (Saturday), some of us had an epic breakfast at 4am while jamming into a Civic. What made it worse was it was the first drink of the night.
  14. I missed this seminar, what exactly did Gload say?
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 11:41 AM) He was white as a ghost when he opened the door. I thought he was going to pass out on us. I was shocked when I came back up from downstairs and saw him drinking something. I was like how the hell did he pull that one off, lol. Then the next time I'm up Brian tells me they got the boot.
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) Just got the word that Bekins agent Berryman Transfer and Storage Co. out of Joliet has become the official movers of the Chicago White Sox!!! This is something that's been in the works for a few weeks now.. and I'm soooooo happy to have had the tip of my pinky finger in it. It's gonna be awesome to see our logo at the park!! Thats freaking sweet steff. I know you had mentioned it, but awesome news for ya guys.
  17. Lol, Keith. I hadn't heard the part about Steff and Brian coming up and saying security. God thats classic.
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 06:50 AM) Capped off by an evening straight out of the "How to fit 7 people into a car made for 4" manual.. I think he recovered nicely.
  19. Total Blast, but I'm exhausted from a lack of sleep. Will make a nice detailed post in the morning. It was great meeting all the people I did from the boards and Ross, you must of walked past me at one point .
  20. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) thats the way attachments always are for me. a bug that needs fixed? Ya, most definately. That or its a bug only noticed on mozilla.
  21. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) A high school basketball game in Vermont ended with a score of 5-2. The game winning 3-pointer was shot in the 2nd quarter. Newsflash, We have found a team Heads would STAR on.
  22. I'd go pro no doubt, but a lot of people think he really wants to stay. I think he knows he probably should go pro, but he likes USC and wants to play for a 3rd National Championship. I heard he's going to graduate early so he'll have his degree by the start of the football season.
  23. Thats why I think the Bulls will target a SG sometime this offseason. However, KC Johnsons article on the Bulls implies that they won't have much cap room this offseason, rather the following offseason is when they'll have a ton of dough.
  24. QUOTE(LDF @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) and why not? I think the main reason you wouldn't bring him back is the bulls chemistry seems to be working and Skiles/Paxson seem to be doing everything they can to ensure that the guys brought in have not only good attitudes and a clean rep, but also play hard and are not ones to complain about playing time. Now I do think Williams is a pretty good guy to be honest, despite making a horrible mistake, but I don't think I'd take that big of a risk on him.
