  1. Ok, here's the fix. Go to your control panel. Then click on email settings. Then look on the very bottom. Make sure you don't have the "Enable Email Notification by default checked. If you have it checked then it will email you for every post you have selected. I think that will get those that are receiving the emails all fixed. But you guys tell me if it works , if it doesn't i'll look around for something else.
  2. I don't think this means its going to necessarily be a guy from the Rams or Chiefs. I think the basic idea is they want to run an agressive offense. The key to me is, implement slant routes, don't let your qb sit and die. Make sure you stick with the run, call the ocassional RB screen, call the toss plays to the outside from time to time and also throw deep slants and other deeper routes. Utilize the TE as well. I don't get why coaches try to get so creative, like Shea I don't know what the hell he was thinking.
  3. Abbot was and still is awesome in my mind. Amazing story and a very good pitcher during his MLB career. I loved it when he was with the Sox too
  4. If I recall the Ravens OC is a former Bears assistant from the Wanny years. Linehan, the Vikings OC, is a free agent and could be a good acquisition. There was a period where many thought he'd be an oustanding head coach. IT should be interesting, but Fassel and Norm Chow are other guys plus Norv Turner and you could even see them interview Ron Turner.
  5. I think this will basically end the Dodgers offseason.
  6. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) ..but Timo Perez tied a game in Anaheim in a White Sox loss! he's so clutch! :rolly By the way, that game was Ross Gload's doing, not Timo's. Gotta disagree with ya on one thing. No way is Joe Borchard better then Timo. Sad but true.
  7. Shea isn't being fired for the system. The system has worked sucessfully. He's being fired for the way he implemented the system, ie his play calling and utter stubborness to listen to the rest of his coaches. Its been well documented that Drake (WR Coach) was fighting with Shea to get Gage out there. The bears feel that gage is the best reciever out there and he wouldn't get used by Shea. Then you have another assistant offensive coach who got in an argument with Shea during the Indy game when Shea called for a play with Clark and someone else and neither players were in the game. When the assistant coach came in and talked to Shea about it when the play call was made Shea just ignored his comments. Shea is a freaking prick bag. Shoop was never as incompetent as this deuche.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) From what I have read and heard Lovie will bring in someone to run the same system if they do end up firing Shea. It is not the system they are having a problem with, it is the person calling the plays and the person running the system they have a problem with. Lovie loves the St. Louis/KC offense and wants to run it here. I do agree with you that you need a TE, but I don't see a difference maker in that dept. The TE from Virginia (Heath Miller) is supposed to be pretty good. I think thats his name and where he played. I've heard a few people who watch Virginia play say he's the real deal. I can't say cause I never really payed much attention to them.
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) Walter Jones and Orlando Pace will be franchised so you can forget about them. You named one offensive lineman out of how many? Remember Johnathan Ogden? Jordan Gross? Tony Boselli? John Tait? Orlando Pace? Walter Jones? There are a ton others that are definately worth it and D'Brickashaw Ferguson is thought of as a franchise type LT especially if he adds more bulk. Scouts say he may have the best footwork for any OT ever! WRs turn out to be busts more than not in the first round. Much more so than OTs. Orlando Pace will be in Cleveland. I have this on good source that this is the team he most wants to go to. If he's franchised then its much more unlikely, but he wants to go back to Ohio. Walter Jones may not get franchised. Alexander and Hasselbach are both out there and could be priorities over Jones who has wanted out of Seattle for some time now.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) Maybe Shea wasn't the best guy for this job, but holding him responsible for that mess is like firing the weatherman in Thailand for not predicting the precipitation that came through... Disagree with ya. Shea put this upon himself. - He recommended Quinn to be the backup and stuck with him too long - Ignored Lovie's stance of getting Hutchinson more reps in practice earlier - Refused to go up to the box so he could actually see what was going on - Refused to make any adjustments - Refused to stick with the run (Jones would average 4.5 a carry some games and would just not get used at all - Did all he could to make that offensive line so much worse. I'm am talking about him just getting pass happy when the run was working. I'm talking about how he wouldn't utilize the slant route which is one of the most effective routes in football right now. its quick developing, high percentage and forces db's to play tighter coverage, thus opening the deeper routes. Failed to call more 3 step drops with the oline struggling - O shea did so many horrible things that I could continue going on and I'm not even an imaginative person. I've been calling for his firing for about 7 or 8 weeks now and I couldn't be happier. This guy was the biggest piece of crap of an OC that I have ever seen. This offense ranked dead worse in the NFL in pretty much every major category. I can't get over how excited I am that the Bears stepped it up and removed this guy. And I don't want anyone telling me he's a rookie and needs to learn. He's 53 years old, IIRC, and has been around the game such a long time. Its obvious to me why he's been around so long and never been an OC in the NFL. And look at his Rutgers team, it blew.
  11. Yep, press conference is scheduled for 3 PM You can listen to it live on ESPNradio online for those out of towners like me.
  12. Ok, Shea just got fired...so for the first time this offseason I've been right. Now lets get Pyrz and Iguchi or Cora...most importantly Pyrz.
  13. Holy s***, I'm so freaking happy. God damn this tells me the Bears won't settle and sit and wait hoping to get better. Tell me you heard this Chisoxfan? I just saw this posted on another board and was hoping it was true

QUOTE(Molto @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) if there is a winner, this is it. LMAO Mario
  15. I wish it were certain and I believe he should be fired. I just hope Lovie and JA do the right thing. Fassel is my #1 choice with Martz a 2nd. If the Raiders axe Norv Turner thats another guy I'd look at. I want the Bears to bring in a proven OC if at all possible. Dbaho, DT has another year on his deal with the actual salary being 950K (not counting his bonus) so I think he gets cut only if the Bears think he's detrimental to the club.
  16. Bulls have zero low post game without Eddy Curry. One thing they'll have to find sometime this year or next year is another low post player, imo. And Harrington is such a big piece of turd. This was a terrible game. I could see it when they were winning early and it eventually turned that way. Bulls should of won and they played the worse game I've seen from them in a month or so.
  17. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) I only see that happening if the sox are out of it honestly. Disagree, I think if Everett plays well with Frank gone then when Frank comes back and if he plays well, then the Sox have an affordable player in Everett who another team in it could want in a deal where the Sox could fill another need, potentially.
  18. Badass job by Gordon, but the rest of the Bulls need to get involved. Deng had a good first quarter and not a great 2nd quarter. Harrington looked awful after making his first two shots.
  19. Ugly looking game so far. I know they were up 8-0 at one point, but I don't like the way the offense is looking nor are the Bulls doing there job boxing out defensively.
  20. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) Probably a good philosophy Jason. But they'll get another infielder no matter what, it just depends who it is. I wouldn't be shocked if they bring in two, and trade a guy they have. Well if they trade someone it would have to be Willie. I hope they don't just give him up cause I can't belive how many fans and even management seems to of written him off. The guy struggled at times, but at other times looked very good and can actually draw a walk, plus he plays gold glove defense, imo. There is no reason to think he can't become a good player. At this point I already consider him solid, especially for a 9 hole hitter. He's going to learn to steal better and once that happens some team is going to get really lucky (thats if the Sox give him up). It would be stupid for the Sox to deal him. I don't mind picking someone up, but I also think that Harris deserves a shot to get the job out of spring training. That could be the case with Cora or Iguchi to be honest. I like Cora's versatility to play both ss and 2nd. Plus he's a pretty smart ball player. In short, I just don't think infield is the hole that the catching spot is and that Pryz is a must get. But I don't expect the Sox to get him, lol, and I'm going to keep telling myself that.
  21. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) Agree on Davis playing over Burke, for money and other reasons. They want to see what they've got in Davis. I think the only position Hankins can play that Jamie can't is 2B. I'm a Burke fan too, he's the perfect 25th guy IMO. I don't know how much experience Burke has in LF and RF but Hankins has played those positions as well, IIRC. Your right though, Burke is quite versatile too. Burke goes well with the ball and keeps a short swing. He'll move guys around and if he continues to improve defensively and get a better understanding of the Sox pitching staff (which I think he will) then it seems like a no brainer to keep him. I like Davis' potential, but I yack at his swing. Good god I think I have a shorter swing. He's definately got potential which is why I'm intrigued. Plus I don't think he's a bad guy. But off the bench I don't really like Davis; Doesn't really handle the bat well (by that I mean moving guys around) while Burke can. Plus I don't think he's a guy that will react well to a benching or playing every few days. Then again he was pretty quiet when he didn't play for like the first week following the deal.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) It will be pretty hard to contend in the west. Even if harden is a stud. Anaheim and Texas are both going to be good again this year. You gotta admit though, Texas has yet to fill there big hole from this past season, which was pitching. If I were a Ranger fan I'd be royally ticked off considering they got a very very good ballclub offensively. But I think the Angels are going to flat out run away with the division while the A's and Rangers stay around .500; On the other hand I think the Indians flounder.
  23. For the sake of my heart, I'm going to continue to tell myself the Sox are done for the offseason. I dont' want to get my hopes up for Pyrz and Iguchi and then get my heart broken, lol. Cause I must admit, I'm not looking forward to having Davis/Burke behind the plate. I think thats a horribly crappy catching core. On the other hand, we all know me, I happen to like Willie Harris, although I'm more hesitant than I used to be due to reports on his attitude. But I think Willie is a solid ballplayer. Iguchi excites me more because of his marketing potential if he comes in and is a solid ballplayer. I don't think he's going to be a star by any means. But you never know I guess.
  24. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) that's what i took from watching him. He's mike vick w/o the arm....now I could be totally wrong, but that's what I've seen. So essentially he's a more talented Ronald Curry. He's going to get drafted, but he may need to pull a Randel El. I just know he impressed the hell out of me in the rose bowl. I'm also starting to like the idea of drafting Williams out of Texas (LB) cause it would give the Bears a good defensive line and linebacking core with a solid secondary. Either Williams or Rolle would look awful good, plus the step down from Rolle to Webster (the 2nd best corner) is a hole hell of a lot. I think Dub is probably gone and it looks like DT is back. I also think were going to hear that Shea was fired sometime in the next 10 days. I hope to hell they fire his piece of s*** ass. I've never hated a coach more then I hate Shea. That guy has completely f***ed Justin Gage's progress and singlehandedly help ruin the Bears season. Incompetent isn't just the only thing that comes to mind, asshole comes to mind too. Get that prick bag away from the Bears. His ego is so god damn big it wouldn't matter if the entire team was on IR he'd still call for this 7 step drop/slow developing plays.
  25. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) Row, I thought about that and the numbers look awfully tough for 3 catchers, but it's a possibility. Assuming 11 pitchers, you've got 14 spots. 3B, SS, 2B, 1B, LF, CF, RF - that's 7 starters. Gload, Everett, Timo Perez, and a backup middle infielder. That's 11. Plus two catchers makes 13. One spot left ... Frank Thomas? If Thomas starts on the DL I can definitely see 3 catchers. If Thomas is healthy I can't see it. The big benefit is the fact that Burke can play multiple positions. Peronsally I give Burke the nod over Davis if you carry two, but with the money Davis is going to get that won't happen (i know 1 mill isn't that much but it still gives him the nod). If they were to carry three you'd almost give Hankins the nod over Burke due to his mega versatility. But I am a Burke fan. Calls a good game, has a solid arm/quick release, and has a very unselfish approach at the plate. I think he can hit .250 plus in the majors. But .300, not over a full season, imo.
