  1. That said - I always figure if rumors are out there - deal isn't anywhere near close and we'll see another team swoop in. Very rarely the team with all the smoke is where they end up going. Look at the Rams and Stafford and how quickly that went down.
  2. He didn't pick Mitch and quite frankly - lets not pretend that Foles was some all-in type of move. Foles had never ever ever been a good NFL starter for a full season in his entire career. Actually - check that - I forget his one year with Kelly.
  3. If that is true - sign me up. I'm 100% okay with that. Basically it is a trade down, plus Foles and Cohen. Moving Foles is cap friendly too (I think) - so no impact on Bears cap. Means Bears have some room / money for Arob and others. This would be as good of a deal as possible in my book. That said - I presume some dead money for moving Cohen.
  4. Really bad loss. Came out flat to start - 2 games in a row - had a heck of a run in 4th quarter - but came up short. Williams with back to back strong games. But man him and White both missed gimme layups in final 2 minutes. That said - As much as I complain about Koby - I love watching an aggressive Williams. That mid range game is smooth!
  5. Reid's son has a history of issues too. Didn't his other son lose his life to drugs or am I confusing this with something else?
  6. I don't disagree with this - other than I would not ride with Foles to start in any scenario. I'd draft a QB and roll the dice on a Winston type. Two shots - than try again. But when Bears kept Pace around - it meant Pace was going to try. As long as McCaskey doesn't let him burn the franchise to the ground - I have no issue with the above and to be honest - I don't hate the Wentz idea.
  7. This - and the same can be said for Carr. Both of these guys are attractive - because if the QB pans out and is above average - you get an above average QB at least average cost. I believe Wentz has more upside than Carr - but Carr probably has safer floor.
  8. I almost assume Foles would be involved in a Wentz trade with the Bears.
  9. The piece you have to remember - you didn't even know who was on his roster in that 2019 season.
  10. I don't know what to say - other than - 1 year is really the outlier and it is last year. He had zero weapons, zero line, nothing. It was a disaster and there are many fingers to point at. The year before - 2019 - he was a STUD and similar to last year - that was with a dumpster fire of talent around him. The Eagles haven't given him much anything after that Super Bowl season. Between injuries and other issues - they just have a lot of bad. The bigger concern I have with Wentz has less to do with his 2020 performance and more to do with the rumblings of him being a less than stellar lockeroom guy. But in terms of pure football - he would be right there with Cutler as the most talented QB the franchise has ever had. Hopefully that is where that comparison ends though and he would be a bigger winner, etc if he were to join the Bears. From a cap perspective - Wentz traded is actually pretty nice. If you hit - you have a 25M cap hit for next 4 years...which is about 16th in the league - so bottom line - a real reasonable cap cost if he plays like the 2017-2019 Wentz.
  11. You missed a lot of real good things he did though. In general - the team played really really well in the 4th quarter. In particular - Williams showed his athleticism and why I believe he has the highest upside of anyone (including Lavine) on the roster. The dude is explosive and has touch. He has a lot of work to do on his game and I haven't seen much passing, but from handles, to speed, to strength, to general touch - he flashes a hell of a lot of tools. The key for him is his aggression - he started the season more aggressive and than after his injury become more passive - but saw some increased aggression yesterday. The offensive boards and 2nd chance points crushed the Bulls and they couldn't overcome it. Lavine had an easy 27 points or whatever he ended up with - but he did have one bad turnover late (albiet the team was very crisp with the ball).
  12. For everyone that says every outing was an adventure - I'm going to plainly state he was an excellent closer for the White Sox. Flat out he converted saves at a high level. Whether I bet on him being able to maintain that balancing act, maybe not - but at $5M this was a great use of resources for the Twins.
  13. Mariotta is not near the athlete he was coming out of Oregon. Injuries have really sapped that plus athleticism that used to exist and as a pure pocket passer he is mediocre at best. Hard pass on Mariotta (unless it is for a back-up type role). I presume the Bears lists are (and this is in no particular order): Draft Pick Wentz Winston Watson Carr Garapalo Prescott (if there are any snags in Dallas) Watson 3 Way (Tua/D'Arnold - maybe) Trubisky - at this point would seem off the table. Seems very clear they want to go another direction and take a shot on someone else. Someone else might be better (or worse) than Mitch - but the point is - it is someone else. There is no one on the above list whom I would totally throw up at the concept of getting - but I would be irate if the team made a play for Teddy Bridgewater.
  14. Well - technically - this isn't saying the Bears are out - this is more just clickbait - which is tied to Biggs reporting today which is the Texans are aggressively telling teams Watson is not on the market. So this has less to do with Bears being out vs. serious doubts around the league whether the Texans are actually going to move Watson. At this point - it seems like we are going to potentially see a pretty long, drawn out process as it relates to Deshaun. And I'm not going to lie - if I were the Texans - before I made a move - I would try 5 times over to reconcile the situation vs. not. This isn't the Jay Cutler in Denver thing where there was no reconciling because the feelings were very clearly mutual (McDaniels didn't want Jay and he didn't want him). In this case - I think the Texans front office and coaching staff very much want Watson - the issue is the owner totally screwed the pooch and I assume Watson isn't going to back down.
  15. I don't think the Angels acquiring a guy who is a one year guy at 15M per year (where they got a bunch of cash) - should mean they are out on giving a massive contract to Bauer. Maybe they are out on Bauer - but if they are - it has absolutely nothing to do with the trade they made yesterday - nothing.
  16. More realistically - I think moving up to get Wilson, getting in on a Tua 3 way deal, or getting Jimmy G / Winston - are probably all more likely options.
  17. I'll elaborate a bit more though - cause Lauri is a HIGHLY skilled big man. This season his athleticism has looked much better - that isn't to say good - cause he just isn'ts uper athletic, but last year he looked like he was running in cement. I also will note that as the season has gone on, despite last nights quite 2nd half - we have seen him show up a bit more in the 2nd half (for the first half of this season - he was completely getting no useage/not showing up in 2nd half). I also will point out - despite Coby White hitting that big 3 late in the game - around the 5 minute market he had to straight positions that were straight up garbage. And I know Lavine has these type of posessions as do guys like Harden/Durant, etc - but Coby White does not belong in the same conversation as these guys. One of the possession - White has the ball with about 14 seconds on the clock - decides not to swing it to Lauri - who has space or over to the other side of course to Thaddus (or I think it was Thaddeus) - both of whom would have had the ability to create a bit and get the defense moving. Instead - White held the ball for 14 seconds - continued to opt not to make a pass (and guys were there) to jack up a 2 (black hole #1 example). Very next posession - White turns the ball over trying to drive into I don't know where. You might say - good for White - he's being aggressiev - but he had Lauri screaming for the ball (which you never see). Why was Lauri screaming - well he was open for a 3 and than he had a switch on him which was appropriately identified where Lauri went down and had a guy half a foot smaller guarding him. White literally looks at him and just shrugs it off into full blown hero ball. The problem with White - beyond just his turnovers - he has so many posessions that might as well qualify as turnovers because of how AWFUL of a PG he is and to be frank - how awful of a starting player he is. He is the very definition of a microwave type guy off the bench - if he hits. I don't think he has any upside beyond that and I swear i hope another org things otherwise and Bulls can get some value for him. My issue with Lauri - is not that he can't be a good player on a winning team - cause I absolutely think he can be. At this point - Bulls might as well watch to see if he can be a 20/10 type of guy - if he can - maybe you should pay him - but man - would have been nice if we saw this Lauri a year ago. At this point - its hard for me to unwatch what happened last year. And I don't love the notion of tying up a ton of cap space to him. But the reality is - his improvements this year are real.
  18. And now up to $92. I'm sure soon enough it will be below 75.
  19. Not really - but he has been much better this season. Part of this might be on bulls but he doesn’t play with enough swagger most of the time. He is so skilled inside - nice to see him do a lot more of that vs just being a stretch. Fun win - held on in the end. Bad team but still a win. Lauri defense has been better though.
  20. This team needs a good point guard - BIG Time. I can't say it enough - Coby White is TERRIBLE - literally TERRIBLE. His PG play is preventing everyone's development - literally everyone's.
  21. Yeah - if you keep Robinson - who I still contend is not a great use of cap space - but he's clearly an above average wideout (just not elite) plus you have Mooney and a Kmet (who is definitely solid with upside)...get Cohen as a gadget player back and Montgomery who I still think is just a guy - but he is a balanced guy and at least flashed a lot better in 2nd half of the year when line did something. Bottom line - If you just switched Watson and Trubisky - I think you are talking about an 11-12 win team (on the upside). Would it have flaws - absolutely - but very few teams in the cap era don't have flaws.
  22. And I think we are all harder on Bears as maybe an outsider. An outsider would say the defense is still good - as elite as it was viewed a year ago, no, but still pretty good - yes. I could even make a case that Pace and Nagy and even outsiders would say - if you add in a QB of Watson's caliber - that alone upgrades to QB would be MASSIVE - and probably also help a defense that has been bit up by such a bad offense (and I imagine if you are the Bears you are probably saying a TON of that issue was on the QB). So yeah - if Bears could just give up a ton of picks and fit Watson under the cap and keep Arob and the rest of the team relatively status quo - I'd actually say they would have a chance to be pretty good. Even the oline - it isn't great, but the young players showed enough and getting James Daniels back - that with a QB like Watson you probably can live with that oline (not love it - but live with it). The problem with the Bears is the team will get worse in the next couple years because it doesn't have picks to inject other new talent - which will make things hard - but if Watson is as good as he is - you can still get creative and find ways to acquire players, etc. And everything should be easier when you have a QB like Watson (if you truly believe he's a top 3 QB - there isn't a price out there that isn't worth it). Note: Watson probably has pretty vivid memories of going against the Bears defense too - they played a dang good game against Watson and were in his business the whole day. I definitely could see Watson going - yeah - that can work (not saying it would be his top choice - but to say it can't work - nah).
  23. If the Rams have figured out a way to work all the various moves and trading of picks they have done over the past handful of years - than I'm sure the Bears can figure out creative ways to do it.
  24. I like the way your thinking and there is some pretty sound logic on teams at the top of the draft falling in love with their scouting and the concept that they can hit with a top pick, save assets and build a better team, plus have a QB on a rookie scale contract. I see many reasons why if I'm Miami, maybe the longer it goes I go down that path. That doesn't take the Colts/Niners out of the equation though - and they obviously are going to be attractive destinations as well. I would think San Fran / Indy are more attractive - but that doesn't mean they go as bold as the Bears do and I don't see why Watson would veto a trade to one of the big market teams and one where he could turn a historic franchise around. And it isn't as if there are a bunch of players saying Chicago has been a bad place to play under Nagy or anything like that (at least not yet).
