  1. Delgaod just came off the disabled list. The only thing I can't see with this deal is that if you make the trade, next year you have Konerko, Thomas and Delgado, meaning its going to be hard to trade someone. However, if the Sox get Thomas to walk or deal one of the guys, then it makes sense. And I know me mentioning Thomas walking will piss a lot of guys off. I do know one thing, Delgado's left handed bat would be a hell of an upgrade to this offense. Part of me thinks, maybe Maggs is a part of the deal, since he'll be gone and Delgado is signed a little longer (isn't he???), but I think he gets like 16 mill a year or so. However, if the Sox could get Delgado and Miguel Batista for Maggs, I'd think long and hard about it. I don't know though, cause getting Delgado would mean one of the Sox bats is part of the trade, they would have to be, cause it would make sense any other way, cause he wouldn't have a position. That or the Sox feel they can get Delgado and then use Maggs to get pieces to get the Big Unit. On a sidenote, anyone know what the Jays are asking.
  2. That game will be badass
  3. Ok, that makes it a little less of a loss for me. For some reason I swore reading Phil Rogers piece earlier in the year about Francisco thinking he said he was 20 or 21. Now that had to of been the reason I didn't give a crap about giving him up. Just like I wouldn't care if the Sox gave up An. Older guys in A ball have very little chance of suceeding. My bad on messing up the age.
  4. Oldsocks...good post. I am semi with you on the Alomar trade. I was never a huge fan of the deal because Willie was playing very good at the time. However, a lot of other people backed it and Hawk is always talking about what Robbie did to help the club. I'm not around the club so I don't know, but his numbers, were shearly mediocre with the Sox. As far as Everett, he came here, motivated the horses and did what he did. It wasn't his fault he had a lame duck for a manager and well the team just didn't produce (not only Manuel's fault). The only reason I didn't hate the Alomar deal is because I had very little faith in Royce Ring. In regards to the Freddy Garcia deal, I give up a potentially good young bat and a solid catcher any day of the week for a very good 27 year old pitcher that is now signed to a 3 year deal, who has the upside to break out. Also, I know you mentioned Randy Johnson or one person did in this post. But argument A is at the time he wasn't on the block and argument B is who knows whether Sox ownership was willing to open up the purse strings for Randy, whose contract is quite risky soley because he is up their in age. One other thing, I think its wrong to blame KW for giving up another guy or two because the Sox were getting a ton of money sent their way for Everett. Kenny can't sit their and do nothing. He was going to do what he could to make the team better, with a top 3 of Colon, Elo, and Buehrle at the time, you had to do what you could to get that team into the playoffs because those three guys on the mound could of carried this team to the World Series. If he sat their and did nothing, the team would of walloped, the fans would of cried, and attendance would of went down. Instead they went out and tried, they failed, but they tried. This year they are doing it again and now you really start hearing Sox fans acting as if Randy Johnson is a possibility. Think 3 or 4 years ago, we would of never even imagined something like that possible. Now its not going to happen, frankly, the Sox don't have the chips without giving up some things I don't think I'd give up and even then I don't know if the deal could go down. Dan, I think Francisco could be a big loss because he is doing decent at the major league level. You can also see he has a hell of an arm. Now I don't know if his velocity jumped since leaving the Sox system, but I do know he was always said to be a semi power pitcher, but no one in the org ever thought that highly of him, at least I never read or heard anything along those lines. In a sense, I guess KW earns a little credit for getting him for Bobby Howry (didn't they get him and An from the BoSox for him???). In hindsight, that is one guy I don't give up. Last year I said no worries in giving up him, wasn't too worried about Webster, although I admitted potential, and freaking hated losing Rupe...still do.
  5. That was just scary reading. I fly a lot and I would of been scared out of my mind. Having the marshalls their would of been at least assuring, but 14 people, even with a few marshalls, isn't necessarily going to prevent the unthinkable.
  6. Just stay away from this guy who calls himself Heads in Olewein....the guy is a real nut job.
  7. I'm with you MN. I can't go back on what I said at the time of the trade. I never wanted to give up Rupe, but didn't have a problem with Webster or Francisco. Looks like I was wrong on Francisco, but I can't blame KW or anyone else, cause to me he didn't look like a guy you would really regret losing.
  8. Me too, this is a cool idea for a thread Rex
  9. Sucks for you, this year my office is actually airconditioned. Past couple summers he basically refused to use it and used the power crunch as his excuse, lol. So is it nice being back in Cali?
  10. 247...good seeing ya. I'm assuming its starting to get pretty damn hot out where you are?
  11. Just make sure you stop at hot topic before the show
  12. Reportedly he has full range of motion and no fluid in his knee. It could be his sore just from playing the field cause he wasn't ready and the scar tissue still has to heal. I'm hoping its more a good sore...and that this is strictly precautionary and they just want to take care of it today since they will be back in town tomorrow.
  13. He is coming back to Chicago due to soreness in his knee. I don't know how serious it is, but I don't think this is good news at all. Hopefully its just precautionary.
  14. If the Sox are giving up Crede and Borchard, then they aught to give up two more pieces and get the Unit.
  15. From the sound of what Buehrle said in the interview (I don't have the exact wording) but he talked with Maggs and Maggs was hinting that something may be going down once he gets back to Chicago. I don't know what that means, but JJAV posted it over at WSI, who listened to the interview. Didn't see it on here, so I figured i'd pass it along. Basically Buehrle said sounding from the media things were way off between Maggs and the Sox, but then he talked with Maggs about it and Maggs hinted different. Maybe the Sox are offering him another deal when he gets back to Chicago, who knows, but interesting nonetheless.
  16. Wait, Cheat, are you in some bike riding competition?
  17. Here's the age old question, is bowling a sport.....????
  18. I don't know why you guys can't. It must be set where only registered members can vote. I'll try and fix it. If you guys are registered their, then I really don't know whats up. It would explain why the votes are always low on the polls cause the site gets hits
  19. I gotta admit, Benson has been pitching pretty damn good as of late. I watched a few innings of his start last night and he looked like he had a good curveball and was looking healthy. However, if its true that they want a top prospect and a position player, then they can get lost. If I were Kenny, I'd consider giving up one AAA arm, thats it, unless they want some midlevel prospect.
  20. Look for him to pick up a reliever and possibly a catcher. However if the club is firing on all cylinders, you may see him go relatively quiet, minus another reliever.
  21. I missed it so I don't mind it at all. This was too freaking funny anyway, even if I saw it a first time I'd of appreciated this coming up a 2nd time. God is this great. And Jim...us Soxtalk mods/admins are way cool, you should know being part of the crew
  22. Alex, u got Xbox right?
  23. However it works nice, when it is slow, I can kind of do my own thing and show up when I want. The beauties of being a loan officer for my own clients and a processor for a few of the agents at the office I'm at.
  24. Quagmire = THE MAN So many great lines of his. If I ever find it, I'm going to get a shirt with a small picture of his head like on the chest area of the shirt and then on the back in quotes "Giggidy Giggidy". I'm thinking the shirt will be blue or yellow or something.
  25. Well since everyone else has jumped out of the woodwork, I'll back down on my statement. Like I say, oldsocks is a good poster, I'm trying to remember what older poster he was...(Jim Fainter/Hex Hudler???). I'm not trying to stop someone from stating their opinion, I was just thinking it was redundant to happen on every post, always stating that another top prospect is going to be given up. Just my 2 cents though, so Oldsocks, just ignore my previous post, but do know my personal preference is that its getting old, lol, but everyones entitled to their opinions and I know I will rant on about things at times too.
