"Your Boys"
Ya, 710,000 for a 14 round pick. Pretty impressive stuff and I'm sure Selig is pretty ticked off about it. He was quoted in the Times today as saying he didnt' sign for the money, rather for the facilities and doctors that will help make his arm better. I think I called this one a while back Chris I mentioned how much easier it has to be rehabbing full time with the very best doctors. Has to be a loss to your favorite program though, but UNC should still pretty pretty good. First they gotta take out their rival USC team.

7/26 Games
Ya, I have been really excited by Whisler's progress. He struggled early on and Mike and I saw him working on adding his splitter. Looked like a pitch with some potential although he was still adjusting to the release point and where he would like it to finish. It seems like that will be one of his strikeout pitches as he progresses. He's been fantastic of late though. Bmac was being BMAC again. Really interesting hearing the announcers compare him to Prior of all people. They were talking about how spectacular his control is. Seems to me like everyone that sees Bmac pitch, really quickly gets high on his potential.

Oh ya Mike, I got your email last night. Does 10 days give you enough time? You know me, I'm not a stickler for deadlines, lol. Just tell me if you need some help. I'm working on the new format and one of the main graphics is going to be for the National Minor League News, although I still need to come up with a catchy name for that, lol.

DNC People on the street
I should add, my expiriences weren't with people from the DNC, rather people that were doing petitions, which from what I know are seperate things. The Heinz thing was rather funny. The thing I don't get is she is quoted as saying it, yet her people continue to deny it. I mean its not that big of a deal, although its incredibly funny, and I guess the whole unamerican thing could blow up, but her reactions was priceless (In a good way, I like to laugh).

Dougy Mientkiewicz
Well he's gonna go to the Twins, cause the Agnels turned down the Pirates offer where they asked for Kochman and they will not trade him. The Angels on the otherhand, have entered the Randy Johnson sweepstakes. It appears it will be Ortiz, Shields, and one of their top propsects. The Angels want it to be Kochman or Santana. McPherson and Mathis are supposedly untouchable and the Dbacks want Mathis I guess.

SoCal Sox Posters
Yep, I'll be their...already got the tickets Should be an awesome game...hopefully with all the Sox fans uniting, we can break the damn curse of the West Coast. I've seen nothing but losing in the recent series. Also, I'm guessing their aren't too many tickets available for the series, so if for whatever reason they can't get them, just pm me, and I'll see if I can help out and snag some from the people that sit near us.

DNC People on the street
I agree with saying thanks but no thanks on the most part. However, their are a few times I've been nasty to someone asking for political support. One time, someone walked up to me and asked me if I wnated to sign something to destroy the evil, war-monkerer who has ruined this country. I of course responded by saying....nah, Kerry isn't going to be elected anyway But I hate it when anyone walks up and just says really vicious stuff about any political figure. I have and did the same thing when someone went up to me and asked for me to sign something about removing Gray Davis. THe person said it in a complete jackass way, and while I signed the petitition eventually, I didn't sign it from this guy. As long as they are polite, I am more then happy to give a friendly, no thanks.

Guilty or Not?
I'd say manslaughter. Murder is something I consider where the person was trying to do something along those lines. I think this was a horrible accident. I also think it should be illegal for any tv to be in the front seat of a car. They should be allowed in the back seat only.

with tears, watching Al Gore
Kap, Bush's spending is what pisses me off the absolute most about him. The size of the government is increasingly growing and thats something I hate to see. As far as I'm concerned, if I were ever in office, I'd go out and do what I could to cut the waste. I realize some people would be offended in what I cut, but in general, I think I have a lot more faith in the public sector then I do the private sector. Whenever you have to depend on the private sector for anything, it means the public sector has failed. The only exceptions to this in my opinion are sectors that are just too important to risk failing, such as Defense. However, for health and education, I may create a way to mix the public and private sector, because I think it would lead to exponentially better efficiency.

with tears, watching Al Gore
The economy was going into a depression when Clinton/Gore were in office. The stock market was incredibly inflated, with absolutely abnormal PE ratios and it was due to adjust down. 9/11 definately added to it, just like the war has created a type of false economic recovery. Wars spurn the economy, as much as we hate to admit it. However, the recession begin just as Bush took offense and their are very few things a politician can do to create a recession in just six weeks, this side of completely ruining the dollar or something else that would be outrageous. You can disagree with how Bush is going about fixing the economy, but to blame him for the recession is ridiculous, imo.

with tears, watching Al Gore
Thats what I was basing my arguments on. And Tex, I want to go with what your replied to me on. First off, I'm not one to blame much anyone for 9/11. I think its ridiculous to think that the US could of somehow stopped this. Maybe they could of stopped those members from boarding the planes, but they will try, try and keep trying and eventually they will suceed. Its incredibly difficult to stop terrorism, because anyone willing to die is a person who truly has no fear and will not tolerate being stopped. Thats what is scary. However, I am for doing everything possible to prevent future acts, although I am of the belief that eventually the inevitable will happen again. However, I want to see the US do what it can to stop Alquaeda and any other terrorist group we have informatino and intelligence on. I'd like to see airport security improve, I'd like to see the American Public made more aware in regards to this. I'd like to see the dictatorships around the wrold better. I'd like to see Africa become a civilized country and for the Aid's epotemic to end. Their are a lot of things i'd like to see done, their are a lot of things I disagree with Bush on, their are a ton of things I disagree with Kerry on. The thing that scares me the most, is not Bush, but Kerry. The man has such an awful record in senate, imo, but if those that vote for him agree with his policies and what not, fine by me. You gotta vote for your views and I'm not about to sya that Bush is the greatest president ever, but at the same time I respect Bush. I respect anyone that can become president. I also didn't respect Gore's speach what-so-ever, he really truly went out and attacked Bush. I don't see how that makes the democratic party look good, personally. This seems more a war against Bush, then it is anything about politics, with exception to Clinton's speach, which I will say again, was amazing. Also, Apu, thanks for that info on Bin Laden. I respect your opinion and all the amounts of reading you do. You know your stuff, even if we have different idealogies.

We'd better get some help....
The flaw is, the Sox had Maggs in the lineup at that time as well.

with tears, watching Al Gore
Wow...Clinton proves once again why he is one of the greatest political speakers ever. I may not like his political views, but I'm always in awe when he goes out and makes a speach. He did an awesome job framing the republicans and why they are bad and showing why the democrats are good. I was kind of hoping he would talk more about himself and not do all that much, but he really helped out Kerry tonight in what was truly a great speach. I'm not talking about content, but he just did a great job. He does what so few politicians can do, go out and talk about the seperatoin and really make your stances look like the right ones.

with tears, watching Al Gore
No thanks. Gore and Clinton sat their with information at hands. They had Bin Laden sitting their and in custody at one point and another country offered to hand him over to the US, yet they passed. What makes you think he would of handled foreign affairs any better then Clinton, which was poor, imo. Clinton just lobbed some bombs and would call it a day. Don't give me this crap that 9/11 is Gore's fault. Their was a huge flaw in national security as well as the US intelligence, their still is a flaw, but its definately been improved.

Has the Trib Gone Mad
For those that aren't registered, I'll post a few of hte peoples questions (removing the names) and sum up my takes on it. What can I say, I'm bored at work. The Cubs desperately seem to need another bat as well as bullpen help. Is it possible that Orioles super-sub Melvin Mora may become available? He can play short and has the ability to bat at the top of a lineup. Also, as far as a closer goes, what are the chances the Cubs consider a John Smoltz-like maneuver and convert Ryan Dempster into a closer? He's already starting to pitch in relief at Iowa. Don't mention Dempster and Smoltz in the same sentence. Just say switch him to closer and even thats a stretch considering he's coming off Tommy John (I think). Orioles would be crazy to deal Mora, why ask...how about the Sox acquire Prior. The Cubs need to move Sammy Sosa, even if it means eating part of his salary. This would clear the way to pursue a trade for Steve Finley who wouldn't fit in any other way. Now as much as I agree with dealing Sosa. I think first and foremost he's overrated. He isn't good defensively, doesn't play smart baseball, and is frankly and ass who tries to control too much of the team. However, he is also one of the best offensive players in the game and a marketing machine (not that the Cubs really need that, after all they have Wrigley). But who the hell would switch Sosa for Finely..for cripes sakes are you nuts. Christ, how about the Sox deal Maggs so they can make room for Danny Bautista. Paul, why don't the Cubs offer up (Carlos) Zambrano and see what they can get? When he's on, he's unhittable, but I think Zee's temper will prevent him from becoming a consistent winner. Ya, lets deal the best pitcher on the staff (been healthy all year, been a horse) whose young and is already pitching badass, plus he has incredible upside. Unless your getting Ben Sheets back or C.C. Sabathia (to add a lefty to a right handed staff) then you should be banished from Cubville for even suggesting this. I think the Cubs should make a move for Carlos Beltran. They should send (Moises) Alou (pick up some of his contract) and a top prospect to the Astros for him. Then they should get Orlando Cabrera to play short. This will add variety to lineup that is too right-handed and slow. Wow, the Astros are going to deal Beltran for another rent a player, not to mention help out the team they are going against for the wildcard, along with another few times. While were at it, how about the Twins deal Brad Radke, Jacque Jones, and Johann Santana to the Sox for Elo, Scho, and Borchard. How about we trade 100,000 of the new, whiny Cubs fans for Randy Johnson? Arizona will get a good fan base to raise attendance and profits and the Cubs get Johnson. Seriously, in all the years of being a Cubs fan I've never heard so much moaning about everything. Personally, I think most of this bad attitude comes from people thinking it's cute to be a Cubs fan now that they are good. Its a long season people...get used to it! Now this is a hell of a question and sine I'm bashing, I better give credit to where its deserved.

Has the Trib Gone Mad
Alright, on the front page of chicagosports.com is this piece on trade ideas for the cubs that the readers have sent in. Now I know on this board we come up with some kind of crazy trade ideas, hell, I'm part to blame for that, lol, but I rarely see things like this. Is their plan to make Cub fans look like idiots..is this Sullivan saying, your ideas are dumb, stop sending them to me. Afterall, no emails, no questions to answer...he gets paid to sit their I thought it was a pretty comical read though, and this is coming from me of all people, a person not too infatuated with the whole Cubs thing. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines

Thats signing you up so you can also receive it by referring people (or so I'm guessing). One question before I sign up for all this, do I have to pay a shipping fee or any crap like that? I'm only going to do this if I don't have to hand over a credit card number or anything like that.
