I agree. I think once Borchard gets a few games under his belt he will be up. If you ask me the package will center around Rauch, Rowand, and another prospect, possibly a good lower level one or another AAAer, maybe even a Felix Diaz type.

I saw in the article mentioning the Yanks going for Garcia, a direct quote (or at least looked to be) from KW saying Reed was untouchable.
-
If they are offering Contreras, then all I'm going to say is the Mariners would be foolish to turn down the Sox offer. The Mariners would be taking on at least part of a long term deal and wouldn't be getting anything for their future. A package of rauch and Borchard would be superior to that, although I'd hope the Sox could somehow do it without giving up Joey B. Good to see Reed is untouchable.
-
I can't see Reed going for Freddy Garcia.
-
Sox drinking game...I'm in. I'm assuming you've played beer pong, quarters, and moose before?
-
I'm glad KW called Joey B untouchable because those type of comments will increase his trade value and at least give him a little more leverage.
-
Hell yes I would. The guy could potentially make an impact this season and is a pretty damn good pitcher. Heck, his demands may slide and either way he'd be worth the money (Not 10 mill, but get him down a few mill). I think their is a decent chance that he slides to the Dodgers, its likely they take him, but if they don't, its gonna be hard to pass that type of player up.

SHUF: floating??? you sure your not popping the Probert drugs. This is for ya Shuf. It was a great response to a statement I made on typing while bombed. Usually when I try to type bombed, my fingers feel like they are floating, lol.

Top 10 Comedies: Caddy Shack Office Space Major League Super Troopers Fast Times at Ridgemont High Animal House Weekend at Bernies Road Trip American Pie Beavis and Butthead Beverly Hills Cop (so its 11, lol) Top 10 Action: Die Hard (going to go with the series here) True Lies Terminator (both 1 and 2 were good) Kill Bill (both volumes) Desperado (how can't you like some of those action scenes) Man on Fire (badass action scenes in that movie) Gladiator Unforgiven (may not fit this genre) Indian Jones (soley cause I saw you put it in this genure, I'd say it goes more along the lines of adventure, but damn its hard enough putting this in a list as it is) Lethal Weapon (didn't know whether comedy or action..probably more comedy, but oh well) Will do action, drama and scifi later...cripes this took longer then I suspected.

Him and Deng are both pretty good players. Both need to improve their shots but would be good picks. Personaly I'd still try to package the pick, but the Bulls may realize they are a few years off so getting some more talent may not be so bad. They need to get guys with good attitudes that want to play and play both offense and defense.

If the Sox could somehow get Steve Finley then they woudln't need Jose and could then use Finley in CF, Uribe at ss, and Willie at 2nd with Ortiz fitting in. I find it highly unlikely though, because I don't see the Sox moving any of their regular players.
-
Ortiz has been pitching pretty well out of the pen as of late. He's really looking like he's got his head on straight again. He's a solid pitcher and wouldn't be a bad pickup, assuming the Sox could get him without giving up a top prospect.
-
Didn't see todays game as well, but I don't make decisions based on one or two games. I have watched him and he's a better pitcher then everyone gives him credit for or at least most. He's not what he once was and he may not be good enough, but he's still a solid pitcher and is far from the worse closer in the majors.

Ya, I've never figured it out. To me its one of the smoothest hard liquors out there. Yet everyone is afraid of it. s***, give me Jaeger over Vodka any day of the week.
-
Ahh good old Jaegr...the black liquorish of hard liquor...some pretty good stuff.

I will really be interested in seeing what Ross Gload can do because I think he could turn into a pretyt key player for the team this year as well as next year. In fact, he could secure a future in the majors and with the Sox if he steps it up right now. I think consistent playing time will prove to do good things for Gload and we'll see him turn into a pretty damn solid player. Of course Gload is one of my favorite players on the Sox, so i'm a little bias, but I love his approach.

I go with KW's mindset and I think he'll be thinking big. He isn't going to just add one player. If a guy like Finley is out there and now he has a position, then KW will go after him and he won't end it on that. KW knows the Sox need a pitcher and he's going to get one. I have no doubt KW will make a couple trades before its all done and I still believe the Sox will have a new 5th starter by June 12th and it won't be coming from within the organization, unless us giving up prospects for him is coming from within. Don't know whether it will be a good trade or not, but he'll make the necessary deals.

Personally I think everyone overlooks Koch. I didn't see the game he blew the other day, but he has not looked bad. His control has been the one bad thing, but he seems to be limiting his hits as evidence of a pretty decent opponent batting average (at least it was decent before his last blown save) and if you take away his early outing or two he's been pretty rock solid. I don't know if Koch can do it in the playoffs, but as of now, I think everyone is really blowing this problem out of proportion.
-
If I'm the Sox, I take Garcia for the season. If he pitches great then the Sox likely make the playoffs and maybe make a splash. Then they can talk with Freddy and decide whether they can work out a deal. If not the Sox should have a little better of a financial situation and can go find a replacement (in what should be a better pitching market then last year) and go from there. They would then offer Freddy arb (this is assuming he does well) because worse case you get him for a yr at a little more then he makes this year and its not a long term deal. Best case you get your 2 picks of compensation and can use it to get back what you gave up, plus you got to use Garcia for the season and will hopefully gain financial flexibility from it. Those are the good scenarios, of course he could come and suck, but Garcia is a good pitcher with good stuff, he should be good in Chicago.

If the Sox play well with Maggs out then it will be tremendous because they can build on it with him coming back. I think KW will add two players this year, maybe a 3rd. I think he'll add a lefty bat, a front line pitcher, and possibly another bullpen arm. I can't see many other teams getting much more then that out of the deadline and then at the Break, which is pretty close to the deadline, the Sox also get back one of the best outfielders in the game from the DL (Maggs), which is basically like getting a trade considering they'll be playing for about 2 months without him. It could be really huge if they still play good baseball with him gone, cause once all those things are done (the moves and Maggs coming back) the Sox could really be poised to go on a big if. Then again, lots of ifs in this and I just want the Sox to play good baseball each day they go to a ballpark. If they do that, they'll be just fine.

Great point, he's been just early on a lot of his long drives. I think the past two weeks he would of had about 5 home runs if the foul pole was 5 feet farther to the left down the left field line.
-
I wouldn't concern yourself too much with it. Right now he is driving the ball on pitches that warrant it and is doing a great job going with the pitch. I've seen him hit a ton of balls hard into the gap and if they aren't leaving the park no biggie. He's doing a good job at the plate and the homers will come, especially when he gets more inside pitches, which will likely happen. Carlos is really looking good at the plate and its because he isn't trying to swing for the fences. He really has a short, line drive swing going right now.
