Official Ortiz/Jones ATL Rumors Thread
But the Braves ended up giving up quite a bit to get him. Of course Joe Cowley's article in the Southtown says that the Sox tried to sign him as a free agent and that the Braves signed him first Oh ya, in that article he also mentions how Anderson, Sweeney and Borchard aren't to be involved in trade talks at least not for Russ Ortiz.

Official Ortiz/Jones ATL Rumors Thread
All I know is that this is very interesting. Have their been any reports saying the Sox are looking to make two deals and not one, since their have also been the rumors about Fassero/Meche. Hell, couldln't the Sox actually be moving Maggs to the Mariners for a package of Fassero/Piniero or Meche and something else? The Mariners haev long had interest in Maggs and then just work on getting Steve Finley to be the extra left handed bat in the lineup.

Could the Sox be giving up another regular player and going after Ortiz, Smolt and a hitter??? Sounds to me like this may not be a deal that includes minor leaguers or at least very many of them.

Jeremy Reed
He had an injury, but he played in the 2nd game last night (it was actually the 1st game; the earlier game was a continuation from last nights game). Reed was 2-3 in the secnod game. Hell, I think a little imte off would be good for Reed.

Official Ortiz/Jones ATL Rumors Thread
Holy s***, this hole thread is very interesting. First off I'd like t state I have absolutely no problem with the Sox dealing Maggs. Who knows what the supposed packages are, but if the Sox get two very good pitchers and a good hitter (lefty) out of the deal then I'll be exstatic. Its obvious changes have to be made. I really hope today is the day something goes down. I'd hate to lose Maggs, but this club can score without him, it can't pitch with him or without him and pitching is what they need and he's the piece they can dangle to help get them a good pitching staff.

I'd do that deal someone on this board came up with, with Drew, Ortiz and I'd say a damn good prospect coming our way. Drew is having a monster year and we all know he's really talented and he would supply a left handed bat for the lineup.

At this point I'd rather deal Maggs. The Sox offense is producing without him and at least u know u got Lee and Konerko back next year I don't want to see the Sox make any more short term plans. If they are gonna better this team, do it for the short and long term.

Unfairenheit 9/11
Just finished watching the movie. Got interviewed on TV for the news. The guy said they needed to get a conservatives opinions and I had to of been one of the very few there. My friends are more conservative, but I'm the vocal one in the group I guess. Anyway, I gotta say a lot of people left that movie really thinking ithey were seeing a hole truth and I can't say it shocked me. Personally, I thought it was pretty much a big ass conspiracy theory where Moore is trying to get the American people to believe that Bush is letting thousands of people die, soley so he and a few close friends can benefit financially. He also seems to make this tie to George Senior, who I can honestly say is and was one of the most patriotic presidents what-so-ever and their is without a shadow of a doubt, no way that I think George Bush would let innocent people die so he can gain a little more money in the Carlisle Group. The only part of this movie that really intrigued me at all was the portion that showed Powell and Rumsfeld stances on Iraq just after Bush was elected and then how they shifted after 9/11. I always was for the war but for different reasons then the administration or at least some of my reasons were different. I realize whats going on in Africa is more screwed up than what was going on with Saddam in charge, but in all honesty, Iraq had something the US desperately needed and it was enough of a side factor to push us into a war or at least a partial one. Was the Iraq going to attack us, who knows, but Saddam had shown before that he wasn't afraid of using WOMD on people (Hell his own people) and he was an absolute tyrant. Sadly in times of war their are economic gains, but I guess its only good that a little good comes out of something thats utterly bad. War isn't always a good thing, but sometimes its the inevitable. To be honest, if this movie did anything to me, it further swayed me to vote to re-elect Bush this next term. After the movie I got in a few conversations with the people around me and at first they were really pissed off at Bush, especially for the ties to the Bin Laden family. I still don't get what the hell everyone is b****ing about. The Bin Laden family is well respected and other then a wedding some of the family members attended for one of Bin Ladens' sons or something, they have cut off all ties. Somehow mike moore wants you to believe that the family going to one wedding over like a many year stand of not talking to his family, makes them all contributors to his weapons and essentially 9/11 and in return, ties Bush to 9/11. Also, you don't think their is politics involved in keeping the Saudi's happy. Hell, they are one of the few countries in the middle east that has oil and that the US in one way or another has at least some type of sway. Lets be realistic, our economy relies heavily on oil at this point and its nice to have at least a semi ally when going into a tough period and no, the Saudi's aren't innocent, they are far from it. Unfortunately a lot of the middle east is involved. Oh ya, I also loved how Moore makes no mention of the more prominent countries that were a part of the coalition. In general I was really dissapointed in the film. I wnet to see it with a very open mind hoping to gain a little more knowledge because I fully believe some shady things happened (hell, its politics people and everyone has agendas and interests at heart to a point) but it was pretty much a ton of rapant speculation, some heart throbbing stories, and some facts just really thrown way out that supposedly made this movie. If you ask me, Bowling for Columbine was a hell of a lot better.

Presidential Poll: 6/20/2004
Same as before, Bush. I love that jersey Steve has in his sig too. I also love the 83 Fisk jersey. One day I'm gonna get one. What great player wore the one Marte has?

Michael Moore
What, you want bush to say that its his fault Bin Laden had the money to do it, because he has done business with the Bin Laden family, which is a pretty highly respective family and from what I undrestand has been well documented in pretty much telling their radical son to stay the hell away.

Michael Moore
I'm gonna watch the movie tonight. I figure he will bring up some good points, but of course will probably only show the very left side. Despite that, he does work hard and research his stuff. I mean bowling for columbine was an exceptional movie. I was kind of indifferent on gun control, but since seeing that movie, I truly feel that some sort of gun control is useful. I own a few guns (none located in my house or the state I live in) but I don't want a gun around me. Like my dad says, why take the chance of getting pissed, having a gun near by and shooting someone.

Michael Moore
Its not like all of the Bin Laden family is bad. Plus, just because your a friend of someone that eventually does something wrong doesn't necessarily make you responsible. George Bush was not the only one with a connection to the Bin Laden family and if anyone somehow wants to create some sort of tie between Bush allowing Bin Laden to doing that, then thats flat out propostrious. And like Kap mentions, everyone has ties. Hell, I've been researching the libertarian party quite a bit as of late. I have nothing against the war, my gripes are with Bush's insane spending. Kerry would only be worse, but I don't like the growing size of the government, especially with a conservative in charge.

A realistic view of where we may be
All three of them should get the Sox something decent in return. Konerko has been playing well, Maggs is Maggs, and Jose is a solid shortstop that I know the Angels would be interested in. You may be right, if at the Break the Sox are way out of it, I'd sell. Of course, on the other side, with that scheudle coming up, now is the time to make the trade otherwise, if you wait it may be too late.

6/ 25 Game Thread vs. the Cubs
Bad, bad, bad defense. The wild pitch and then the botched pop up which should of been Gload's ball. I'd give Gload the error, thats a very hard play for Urbie. Come on Jon, pitch through these defensive lapses.

Cal Stae Fullerton's Pape Sow
Ya, thats him.

Shoney on DL
Heck ya it is, and it is also a massive bump to both his and Rauch's trade values if the Sox do dangle one of them as bait.

Official Ortiz/Jones ATL Rumors Thread
One thing everyone shouldn't forget is the fact that Ortiz helped lead the Giants to the world series pretty recently. The guy has pitched in good games, is in his prime, and is basically the ace of the Braves staff (well minus Horacio).
-
Shoney on DL
Well, Rauch only had 80 pitches, so I'm gonna assume that the Sox were going to prefer to turn it over to the bullpen a little early simply because they wanted Rauch to leave the game on a high note and not chance him messing it up.

Shoney on DL
Now the Sox are going to be really desperate for the trade. Hopefully Scoh's problem isn't too serious. Another negative is, teams have to know this and they are gonna ask for a lot in return. I do think with Beltran moved, your gonna see some deals go down now.

Isn't turner field a decent hitters park. Maybe I'm wrong, I know its not a small park, but I always though the stadium had pretty high homerun numbers. Well, its not as small as the Cell, but its not Safeco either.

Official Ortiz/Jones ATL Rumors Thread
I like Ortiz. He throws a lot of pitches and sometimes fails to go deep into games, but he's a good pitcher. I wonder what the Braves would be getting. I hope the Sox could somehow do the deal without giving up a top prospect, however, you have to give something to get something. Anyone know what Ortiz's contract is? Also, you'd have to think Rauch helped his trade value with yesterdays outing.

Cal Stae Fullerton's Pape Sow
Someone from the Spurs also comes from Fullerton, a pretty good player, but I'm having a brain cramp right now. I really like Sowe. He's a good athlete with great touch around the hoop for a suppoosedly raw player. HELL OF A WIN FOR FULLERTON THOUGH
