Royals Will Keep Beltran
Next year will be Bernies final season in New York, imo.

White Sox 5th Starter? Starting CF?
Garland is a .500 pitcher. No more, no less. If this team is serious about contending, when Goo walks, we deal for a one or two SP AND a three or four man in the rotation. Relegate JG to the number 5 spot where he belongs. I'd say Maggs gets dealt for a good starting pitcher and a solid outfield prospect. If you go with the Angels...you ask for Krod, Lackey and Erstad.

Bartolo Colon
Knowing the Sox they will go after Ponson. Kenny has wanted him for awhile now. CWSOX45 And from whats been mentioned Ponson would be pretty happy in Chicago. KW has wanted him for a while. He'll be happier where a team is serious about winning. See...I've devised a new plan. I'm gonna call Ozzie Guillen (Somehow) and tell him to convince the Sox to hire me as the GM and I will guarantee that I'll hire him as the manager.

My Dream Team for 2004
I'd hope to use it on both. Go for Ponson...then the difference could get you Caberra. 4 mill right off the bat will get you Orlando.

My Dream Team for 2004
Ideally Orlando Cabrera. Either that or we wait to see who takes Matsui and we try to work out a deal for their back-up. This time it hopefully won't be Royce Clayton. Does anyone know where Matsui is going? CWSOX45 Anaheim, San Diego and Baltimore are possibilities.

I sure hope he is plan B.

Bartolo Colon
What would you rather have? Colon at 12 million or Ponson at 7 million with 5 million to give to someone like Hawkins and someone else? I'd rather have Ponson/Hawkins then Colon.

My Dream Team for 2004
Thats a given...I'd like this team more like the Marlins everyday lineup. Great defense...great speed...solid hitters. Don't need to be exact replicas, but it starts with having a great top of the order. Having good table setters puts you in position to win a lot of low scoring games cause you can manufacture runs.

My Dream Team for 2004
I still say he has trade value. Foulke is gonna be out there for a lot, but some team is gonna look for a setup man and if the Sox pay 2 (making him a 4 mill guy or so) someone will take a chance and give you something potentially productive in return. Get a pen consiting of Marte, Hawkins, and one of Gordon/Sully and I'd be incredibly happy.

Royals Will Keep Beltran
Read in the LA Times today that they Royals are gonna take Beltran to arbitration. They said they can afford the 8-9 mill he's going to make but that they won't be opposed to trading him if it works and that they will be willing to take on the contracts of one or two players if they are good and will help them both in the short and long term. The talks are the Angels were interested and were gonna offer a Erstad/Beltran swap plus something else. Royals want Lackey/Krod and their top 3rd base prospect. Also his agent (Boras) has said that he will not accept anything less then an 8 year 15 mill a year contract. This is absolute BS. If anyone gives him that kind of money...then they should be kicked out of baseball. This is a guy that is good, but not amazing. He has the ability to do that, but don't pay based on ability pay based on production. Lets not forget this is a guy that has had some attitude problems too and 8 yr 15 mill per is quite a risk.

Bears Rant
I'd say you have to trade down. Go with two low first rounders. If your around 10 and 14 or something you can get two very good players.

Ivan Rodriguez
He played awesome. He's gonna get a big pay day (He's a FA right?).

My Dream Team for 2004
The Sox could potentially make it cheaper by inserting one young starter from the Magglio trade.

White Sox 5th Starter? Starting CF?
Garland will be between 3.8 and 4.09 this year. Mark my words. Garland is getting more and more consistent every start and I know he's gonna do it. With those two in the back and a strong front three, I love our chances. If I'm the Sox I'd just get a hands down kick butt bullpen and rotation and screw the offense. Just get guys that can do little things and piece it together. Keep some of teh guys we have. It doesn't even have to be pretty.

My Dream Team for 2004
Ya...you got to forget about Robbie. Cost 10-12 mill for your up the middle combo (It could be less..I've heard a few reports saying Cabrerra is gonna get between 3/4 so ti would be a no brainer to sign him at that). I assume Castillo gets more like 5-6. Couldn't see him getting more. Thomas -6 mill Lee - 5 mill Everett - 5 mill Crede - Min Fullmer - 1 mill Harris - Min Olivo - Min Bench 2.5 Mill Rotation Colon - 12 mill Loaiza - 3.5 Mill Buehrle - 3-4 mill (He'll probably get less) Garland - 1.5 mill Scho - 1 mill or so Bullpen Marte - 2 mill (Just an estimate...it coudl be less...don't know if his arb eligible yet or not) Sully - 3 mill (Maybe a bit less...I don't see them taking his option) Gordon - 4 mill (He's gonna get a raise...could be more...not worth more, imo) Hawkins - 4 mill Wunsch - 750 K Other - 750 K (Unless you go with Munoz or someone..then less) Total = 59 MILLION I have no idea how much of Koch's, and Konerko's contracts would have to get paid.

My Dream Team for 2004
That team wouldn't be too expensive since you see Koch/Konerko and Maggs salaries off the books. I have no idea what they got for those three cause I didn't see any trade acquisitions, but I'd love that team. I'd rather have Reed in center over Harris, but other then that me likey. That right their tells me the Sox could compete unloading Konerko and Maggs. It may not be the greatest offense of all time but it would be better then the Cubs and it would have some decent speed. But a guy I'd love to have at first that I know is impossible is Derrik Lee.

White Sox 5th Starter? Starting CF?
I have no doubt that it will be Scott Schoenweiss. He's gonna make big strides and turn into a pretty good starter, imo. Something like a 4.59 ERA and innings which would be excellent in the 5 hole. Cotts should get more time to work on his pitches. He's gonna be awesome, but I think a little more time is best. As far as centerfield...I'm guessing Reed. All I know is this team needs to infuse themselves with speed. Center, ss, and 2nd are where they can do it and I will be ticked if they don't. If they decide to go with Reed in the 2 hole (And put pressure on him) then I could see them getting away with playing Willie in the 9 hole (This assumes that Reed is playing good...so a big If). Then you NEED to invest money in the leadoff slot so you know guys are getting ahead. An alternative that would be awesome is getting the Marlins top of the order or like I've been pulling for Cabrerra-Castillo.

Giants vs Marlins
Huge game...and that drop was huge. Cruz looked like he was gonna cry.
-
Giants vs Marlins
YESSS...Pudge goes down 0-2 and then rips a single to right and the Marlins win
-
Bye Bye Bartolo?
Javier Vazquez, Sidney Ponson are two off the top of my mind.

Who has the edge in tonights game
Cubs...in Wrigley with Prior on the mound. I like their chances.
-
Giants vs Marlins
Wow..comebacker and the Giants pitcher fields it and throws him out at home. Bases still juiced (They walked Castillo). Pudge is now up. GO MARLINS
-
Giants vs Marlins
Marlins do small ball and runners are now on 2nd and 3rd for Luis Castillo (COME ON WHITE SOX SIGN HIM).
-
Giants vs Marlins
Conine reached when Cruz dropped a flyball. Giants walk Gonzalez so runners on 1st and 2nd now with nobody out and Brower is up in the bullpen.
