At least Herpes and Wartes don't kill you. Aren't some of the Hepititis not cureable?
  2. Great minds think alike. Yep...Dodgers system is barren. I want good prospects/players from a good system. Khalil Greene is a very good 2nd/ss prospect who is ready for the show right now. Peavy could come in and be a very cheap very competent 5th starter as he develops into a better pitcher, and folks he has all the stuff to become an ace or a good #2. Then your 3rd prospect could be one of the pads vets (Not really a prospect, but if they want to unload someone to fit then thats cool) or a solid prospect in AA or so. I don't know a ton about their system, I know they have like Ben Howard who has kind of fallen out of love, but has great stuff. Would Towers be willing to sacrifice Greene? I mean they already have their big name now with Brian Giles in San Diego. I would do it, Greene could be our shortstop for a very long time. CWSOX45 and outfield with maggs/Giles in it can carry an offense. The question is how much money are the pads willing to spend. Cause they still need pitching and would they give up Peavy? If they don't, would they give up 2 or 3 of their stud arms down in the minors...afterall they've already given up Oliver Perez. I think Greene is available, especially with the Pads having Jake Gatreau. To me it would either be the deal as I proposed above: Greene, Peavy, mid level prospect OR if they are unwilling to move Peavy Greene, Nady, Top Prospect Pitcher, Pretty damn good pitching prospect. You then use Nady as bait to land a starting pitcher from elsewhere, potentially Javier Vazquez if you want or someone else.

  4. Without young fans...baseball will be dead. Still 4 eastern would suck...then I wouldn't typically get to see the game. Although I'm home from work today studying for a huge freaking test I got tomorrow.
  5. Kansas football doesn't even come close to Iowa football But your bball team keeps stealing Iowa's good players. I've believed for the past two years that it would stop, now that Alford is here, but it has yet to. I got a lot of faith in Steve though and I see Iowa competiting in the upper tier of the big 10 this year. They have a great front court and back court, the only question is depth. But a lot of guys gained experience last year that wouldn't have.
  6. Make him the martyr. Too many Bears are getting busted for DUI's.

No, If Gaston is brought in I think that Ozzie Guillen will join the staff as the 3rd base coach and that everyone else will stay. From all indications Kenny believes the retained members of the staff will stay with the big club. I agree with that and I hope whoever comes in keeps those already on board because they seem like good coaches.
  8. They have to put one game on little Fox (FX) and the other is going to be on the big station. How could this possibly be a good business move. You only get to have a 3 hour game or so on your primetime network that gets big advertising bucks, plus you split your market in half and you can't get as much money for the commercials during Fox. Now if they go with a 4 start time (7 eastern) and then a late start game for the Cubs game (9 central/10 eastern) you at least get one primetime game on the East Coast, so the Yankee fans can see it. Then you get the central area which basically gets two prime time games and west coastners like myself get at least half of the first prime time game (Once you get home from work) and then a prime time game in the Cubs. Plus, you keep that viewership over a much longer period of time. I'd say near the same amount of total people will watch the Cubs/Yanks game during that 3 hour segment as would of if it were just the Yanks/Red Sox game on and then that same huge segment would watch the Cubs/Marlins game. I don't know what the hell Fox is thinking, but this type of logic explains why Fox Sports constantly struggles and now won't even really exist in Chicago.
  9. He's a horrible announcer, but a great guy. I wish him the best.
  10. Wow, if he is, he wouldn't be a bad pickup at all. You could then use Rowand as bait to add an arm of some sort or use him to sweeten up a possible PK deal.
  11. I wouldn't touch Livan at 6 mill a year. He's a solid pitcher, but the only way I take him is if the Expos pay half is salary and do the trade for someone like Ginter. His option vested right, so we'd have to trade for him??? If were going to invest 6 mill, I'd rather spend an extra million or so and land Sidney Ponson who is much younger and a total workhorse too. You could also look on the trade front and see what teams are considering cutting payroll and have starters that make fair money, but they can't retain them.

  13. Great article. I really liked the sound of that. I got a feeling the Sox are gonna go a lot cheaper on offense while spending money on pitching. I do think you'll see them bring in one good middle infielder that can fly to go with Alomar, if he's retained. You may also see a change in centerfield or first base as well. If the Sox are going to go with speed, you have to figure at least two moves will happen, potentially more. Love the fact that it looks more and more likely that Guillen will be hear one way or another. If he comes with Gaston I'm guessing its to groom Guillen a bit more and then Guillen takes over in a few years.
  14. I'd pass on the deal unless the prospect your getting from the Dodgers is their young RHP...Guiterez or whatever his name is (The one who came up and pitched the last 2 or 3 weeks). I'd be much happier getting Khalil Greene, Jake Peavy and a prospect.
  15. Maddux isn't worth the amount they offered Colon. I don't see him as a bad pickup if its at an affordable rate short term. He can do a lot ot help a staff just by letting the youngsters and other pitchers watch his preperation.
  16. If the Yanks sign Luis Castillo...all I can say is :fyou

But threads were closed. I closed them in fear that things were getting well out of hand. Last night I had no problem with everyone discussing the issues as it was very civilized. Then today and now tonight too many personal attacks occured. Whether I'm right or wrong, its the stance I'm gonna take. These personal attacks have to stop. Like I've said numerous times now, you are entitled to any damn opinion you want. If you want to call us admins...nazi's go for it, it won't bother us. I think were far from it, but thats cool...its anyones right as a poster *whitsoxfan99, just want to make it clear I'm not directing this at you..just saying in general*

Agreed. Like I said I don't have a problem if someone wants to say they hate gays. I may not agree with it, but just cause I don't agree with something doesn't mean it shouldn't be allowed to be said. The only thing that won't be tolerated are attacks on people based on their race, religion or sexuality. You can say you don't agree with people being gay, you think its sick. You can say you don't think the christian religion is right or this religion is right, but don't go out and attack a person. Viewpoints are allowed...attacks aren't.

I don't know what else to say. I go away for two freaking hours to study for my law test and I come back to umteen private messages and emails about s*** going lose. I was hoping when I left that things had calmed down, people were able to make their statement and that it was clear that attacking a person or accusing them wouldn't be tolerated. I don't give a rats ass what your view is. You can have whatever damn view you want, but when your view changes to name calling and blatantly attacking them, it won't be tolerated. This is a place of free speach, but libel won't be tolerated. People accusing of someone being gay ain't cool. Who the hell cares..he's hear to post about the Sox, not tell ya his sexual preference and if he wants to tell ya he likes girls or he likes guys thats his perrogative. You don't need to constantly scrutinize and attack that person and blatantly accuse him or any other person. Not only is he called gay, but he's called a pedophile, aids infected and many other things. Thats disgraceful to accuse someone of that. I don't think anyone would want to be called that especially when their is no base for those comments to be made. Those type of comments aren't for here. This is a board where you can post about any issue you want to, but I want to make it VERY CLEAR that personal attacks won't be tolerated...whatsoever. If someone goes out and clearly attacks a person they will be suspended. Discuss the issues, don't bash on the person. I'm not going to play favorites. I see everyones points of views in this situation and have heard from a lot of people. I'm more then willing to hear what you think as this is a place where you can openly express your points of views. If you want to call me a dick, go for it, I don't care. The point is people shouldn't be called names for no particular reason, especially if they don't appreciate it. If its a simple joke, big deal, but none of those words were uttered in a joke. Once again..I could give a damn whether you love gays, are gay or hate gays...thats your freaking opinion, but don't call attack people or accuse them of something when they are blatant untruths.
  22. Well Arnold won the election.
  23. I would do it in a heart beat. I think its a very fair trade. The only stipulation is I'd love to get Mota instead of Quantrill if possible. I should say this is if that additional 14 mill means the Sox invest the money in other areas. Welcome Aboard
  24. The Chicken of the Sea was great television.
  25. My creep towards that top continues. Just 5 points behind the leader
