I caught it after I made this post. Hey...your rarely wrong. Your doom and gloom approach is usually right when it comes to the Sox...unfortunately

I hope #8 NEVER happens trade elcadumbass. I know one thing...if I ever get into the front office running things, your gonna be my Paul Depodesta And the stat thing sounds cool 1. Kick some ass in school 2. Save up some money to go on a cruise with my buddies this summer 3. Meets lots of new hot girls; And if lucky, find a cool girl. The rest of my list repeats itself from #3 4. Not bore my buddies by bringing up the Sox at least once a day; Currently I'm telling them how much they suck

I don't know. I think Hawk adds some pretty good things to the game cast. Sure he's a bit of a homer, but how the hell can't you be after putting up with so many futile teams over the years. Although during the last 13 years we've never really been horrible, persay. Always mediocre.

I'd prefer another choice. Hell, none of the above. Jose is useless. Guzman is rumored to be out there and if he is, he'd be a definate upgrade. Very good defensive player, strong arm, amazing speed and he's got the chance to be a pretty darn good offensive player.
-
Agreed. I can honestly say I've been b****ing about Jose since the start of 2001. I gave him 2000 since he did produce pretty damn well offensively. Since then he's gotten off soley on 2000. Folks, its 3 years from then and Jose still strikes out too much and now its tough for him to hit .230. I could give a rats ass how many homers the guy hits, OBP is what matters when your a playe thats supposed to get off by doing the little things well. I will give him credit for one thing...his defense improved. On a sidenote, I'm seeing more and more people feel this way about Jose...Brando if your lurking do you want him back? Or are you ready for a change...Matsui/Guzman.

In your face managers get old. After two or three years (At best ) you start seeing them go down hill. The only one I can think of thats been sucessful over the long haul recently is Sweet Lou and I have to think he isn't as in your face as people think. Plain and simple you can't always go off, cause if you do, going off is going to get to a point where its meaningless and people quit. The thing I'd worry most about Backman is how well he could do his thing at the major league level where pitchers are much more aware of baserunners and catchers are much better. I think that would be the biggest adjustment to suceeding at the show. Other then that, if you try and play hard Backman will get along with you alright. No, he isn't going to accept stupid plays, but he isn't gonna go nuts on you for them. I'm guessing he's gonna preach it and work with you on it. As far as the comment, Lee would be a good guess cause he really likes Jerry from what I can tell. JM has really helped Lee grow as a player and I think he was soley defending him. Thats if it were lee. I don't want to really speculate about it though. Whoever it is, if they end up causing crap, then screw him. He isn't the type of player you want and anyone else that feels that way...get the hell out. This is a TEAM and from what I can tell from what I've heard and read, Backman is a team type of manager. Everyone together is better then everyone as individuals trying to create stats (Which is basically what the Sox were this year).

dont think it was wsi.. they were hacked once if i recall.... me thinks a certian awol person is behind this one.... the traveler of the west coast......he has been gone a long while now...and did leave a ton of messes behind........hmmmmmm ...... Is that who I think it is? prolly so........ Did this person spend some time making license plates? why yes i believe so...... Same person then. And yeah, I agree that could be the guilty party. well i only think it because he did tell a story once about being the wsi hacker......and he has a few untied ends here as well... just my speculation though dont know if he has access or not to a puter these days but i woudlnt doubt it..... I'm obviously lost.
-
They didn't get access to any of that stuff. They simply had access to the fileman. Thjs time I made passwords like 20 characters long so they would take forever to get hacked remotely. Hell, I don't even remember the damn things, got them written down. Everything should be fine. As far as who did it, scwhippy was the code name. I have no idea if that means anything. And I completely understand in regards to work. I do know if anything horrible happens your who I'm gonna ask

Lol...just realized it. I opened the thread back up so people can talk about their predictions in it. I was way off.

I think Soxtalk.com Eye on the Future would now be more suitable.

I didn't understand why he threw him umpteen fastballs, especially after Jones hammered that one fastball early in the game. Then the 2nd at bat he gets him on two and goes with one more and bam. I like Jacque Jones though and hell, I even like Mientk and Pierz. If they were Sox we'd love them. They are scrappy guys that can piss you off and do everything good. Its that all around "good" that makes the Twins a good team. The Sox have that great offense, but they aren't all around good. And that offense is "one" dimensional.

Damn, I'll have to go find the thread and pin it. Can you post the link here for me ss2k3

Jose should never play another game. Anyone know how many more at bats are needed before his option vests?

For Jas, Cerbaho-WG or anyone who cares to comment

I agree there is no need to rush him..... And I definitely agree on the hype of velocities.... I have decided to subtract 3-4 mph off anything I read in Baseball America, etc. from this point on...... Ring was another guy that didn't light up the radar guns after even still being considered a flamethrower. LOL And then their is one of the most classic guys, Jesse Foppert. Hyped at 99-100 MPH and he's in the very low 90's. Still, I am not one to really look at velocity as a determinant of a pitchers sucess. I'll take movement and control any day over velocity. Look at guys like Alan Embree (For the majority of his career) and sadly Billy Koch. Major League hitters are so good they can hit the straight fastball if they know its coming. Now if your a freak of nature like Colon and can make the ball jump all over the place, its another story. Bull...what does Bajernu throw. If I recall he always had a great fastball, but I was wondering if it is all the way back since he's just coming back from such a severe injury. Hope all is well with you and Cotts and that you both are having fun, even if it is freaking hot. Best of luck to you two. -
Agreed. Willie still hasn't shown me he can hit. Although he never has really gotten fully consistent at bats.
-
Hawkins should replace Gordon or Sully in the pen. I know Gordon was great for the Sox, but to give him guaranteed money is risky considering this is his first full season in a long long time. Hawkins has an unbelievable arm and would be a huge addition, plus you take away from the Twins. He's got my vote to become a southsider.

Derrek Lee would be a great replacment for Konerko if the Sox can move Konerko. If you move him, package him with Maggs and get some damn good value in return. Like I said earlier from the Pads for Peavy, Greene and Nady. Those are three guys that instantly become starters on this team. Lee easily replaced PK. And the Sox now have the salary options to reup with their pitchers and if you dump Thomas you could add another two good playesr via free agency. Maybe someone like Jacque Jones so you can work in a younger player and as always MATSUI.

Throw in Miles and Reed and we're in business! BTW, I wonder if Reed will be fast tracked? I'd say depending on what this team is composed of were gonna see a lot of reed. I don't think Borchard sticks in the organization any longer and Reed/Rowand will be fighting for center (just my opinion). Then there is the possibility that Maggs gets dealt as the team sheds payroll. If thats the case you trade him for no less then Xavier Nady, Jake Peavy, and Khalil Greene as well as another prospect (They don't give you Greene, you get Gatreu). You move Greene to 2nd and sign Matsui to play shortstop. This probably isn't gonna happen though cause I don't see the Sox blowing things up. However, if they want to spend a 70 mill then they will have to do some retooling to fit Wally's style. Your gonna need to dump slugs like Thomas and Konerko and replace them. Everett could replace Thomas at DH while you get someone like Spiezo or a FA to replace PK. Keep the pitching staff and maybe even add a reliever. Add speed at shorstop with Matsui (He's a must sign) and then you get more speed/everydayness in Reed/Rowand who compete. Both play great defense and can do all the little things.
