Its great to see Hummel crushing the ball. In regards to Sanders, I'm glad he's back in AAA where he can get work himself back in. It was absolutely pointless having him in the Sox pen when Manuel was afraid to use him. Sanders is a very good pitcher and I think he will be a huge help to the Sox in September and for the next few seasons at the least.

Kevin Jarvis and Danny Graves or Mike Stanton. Gives the Sox two veterans that can contribute immediately. Both make money, but it wouldn't cost much more then two or three fring to average prospects to get the two of them. Graves (29 years old) career numbers: 39-32, 130 SV, 3.83 ERA, 650.1 INN, 25 GS, 347 K, .266 BAA Mike Stanton (36 YR Old) Career Numbers: 55-41, 204 HLD, 42 SV, 3.81 ERA This Season: 2-4, 7 HLD, 1 S, 1 BS, 4.94 ERA, 27.1 INN He has been injured for parts of this season. Stanton makes 2 mill a year for the next two years I think. Kevin Jarvis (33 Years Old) career numbers: 33-40, 1 SV, 5.69 ERA, 109 Starts This season: 4-2, 3.91 ERA, 50.2 Inn (8 starts) Hasn't made many starst the past two season with injuries. Is healthy now and pitching very good. I think he's gonna be one of those guys that has a few really good years after never really been noticed much during most of his career (Ala Woody Williams).

I think against the Mariners its not good to bring in a guy that has control problems. They will beat up on a kid that gives up walks, etc. I do think Cotts could contribute.
-
If its just one start, Cotts shouldn't be the guy cause you'd start his service time only to send him back down. Right now he isn't on the 40 man roster so there is no point in putting him on it unless he's gonna be up for the long haul. If thats the case then Danny Graves would be a perfect fit. He could start if necessary (if Cotts really struggles) or he could become a great reliever again (and close if necessary; I'd say the Reds will unload him considering he made 5 mill this year). I don't think he'd have much trade value and to me he'd be an awesome pickup.
-
They will be absolutely unloading. Expect a huge firesale in Cinncy. Gabe White, Williamson, etc...gone. Probably Danny Graves too. Don't know if he's been healthy or really how he's done as a starter, but if he's healthy he'd be an AWESOME pickup for the pen.

If given the choice I think either Jarvis or Hernandez would be better then Suppan because they are long term solutions. Both jarvis and Hernandez are having very solid years (Both era's are under 4). The biggest thing is getting Suppan will cost a team a good to very good prospect while you'll only have to give up a mediocre/fringe guy for Jarvis or Hernandez. The big question is would JR be willing to pick up the tab on Jarvis for a few years or on Hernandez for next year (6 or 6.5 mill if I recall). Would the Pads or Expos pick up part of that contract for someone like Majewski or a Spidale persay?

Agreed. I've said from day one that Kip Wells was the only person the Sox gave up of value. Lowe was a wash and I didn't see much out of Fogg other then him being a nice backend of the pen reliever. That is why I don't see the trade as as big of a fiasco as most. Kip is a solid starting pitcher and the Sox thought Ritchie would be that. If anyone is telling me that we'd be happy with Fogg, you got to be kidding me. Look at the numbers posted by Abozichiu and then remember that he's pitching in the NL and its pretty much a given that its much more difficult pitching in the AL because of the DH. I'd say his ERA would be around 5.5 at the very least if he was in the AL. Plus if we still had Kip and Fogg who knows whether the Sox would of added Loiaza or Colon. It stinks giving up a good young arm in Kips and it was a mistake, but ever gm and team makes mistakes.

This is a tough set back for Anderson but the good thing is he got to play at this level for even a short time, so during the offseason he knows some things he'll have to do (once he is healthy). I also think he had some sucess which should give him confidence for next season. Hope he has a speedy recovery and this injury won't be one of those re-accuring things.

Don't forget Ryan Sweeney But your exactly right abuot them making Webster expendable. Here's what I know about Young: He was a 16th round pick in 2001 and is from Houston, Texas. He must of been a late sign because his first professional season was last year with Arizona. He really struggled there hitting .217 with 5 HR and 54 K in 55 games. Basically he's repeating the level going to Bristol (Only difference is they are in a different league). He's 19 years old and will turn 20 in September. Young was an all state outfielder for Bellaire. He fell to the 16th round in the 2001 draft because of a broken arm which happened extremely late in the 2001 season (Could explain why he didn't play till 2002). The injury required surgery. Young's team was rated #1 in the country that year and they lost 2 or 3 of their best players in the playoffs. Chuck Knoblach's dad coached Belaire for a long time. Has good speed, a good arm, good potential. I'd say he's a solid prospect.

I like Russ and Dizzard a lot. Russ is still pretty raw but he has an amazing arm. For some reason I think Dizzard is gonna turn into a stud lefty, just a hunch.

I don't think its a good idea. If you ask me they are just segregating them into a particular school (not the government or anything) and I think that could give those students that go there a bad rap. Then again it isn't any different from all girl schools and all that stuff. If it means they don't have to deal with crap and can be better off mentally then fine by me.

I think a big part of that is that lots of people register multiple times for some reason. There are people who registered 5-10 variations on the same name. I think that ratio is kinda off because of all of the false positive members that we have on there. I would bet about 2/3's of registrees have posted at sometime. heck just looking at the 50 newest registrees, there are 5 baseball4's and freaks that registered at the sametime, and 27 different registrations in a row that all look like the same person starting with hurtme, then adding numbers, then adding variations to those and continuing on and on. So the member number total is misleading IMO. I agree. Can someone tell me. Way back when there was about a 2 week period when there was an error in the coding (Caused by me) that led to you receiving an error when you registered that said the user name wasn't available. Even though it gave you the error, the name was available and it registered you as that. After a few weeks work I solved the problem, at least on my end, but for those of you that have registered lately, have you gotten that error? Cause when I see someone register numerous times at once I typically think of that error and try a test register and then delete it, but I haven't ran into the error. Thanks

I agree with ya. Comissioners can become legends if they do something so grand for the game just as players who are absolutely amazing can become legends. I'm gonna change that.

I understand that Jason. Remember the very first week I was here.. and what I was confronted with? I believe you were included on the PM I sent out.. A lot of people don't post here because of stuff like that. The site is great. It continues to grow. IMO.. it could be a LOT bigger and better. Hopefully we get there sooner rather then later Ya, I remember that. I agree with you whole-heartedly and I think more and more as the name gets out it will only continue to get bigger. Sometime in the next few weeks we will be quadrupling our server space which should be nice.

I think the big thing is a lot of people lurk and read because they are more comfortable with that and they use this site and other sites to get news. Others may not jump in because they'd rather ease themselves in. I'm still shocked at the growth since soxtalk started and I won't be shocked as it continues to grow, hopefully with many more awesome Sox Fans
-
Every month the site hits have gone up since soxtalk was started. We started in the couple hundred thousand rage a month and in less then a year we've reached over 3.3 mill in a month. Here is the current stats for this month: 3,442,745 Since opening the site on August 30th: 14,287,062

I'd love to deal with them if they are talking firesale.
-
We'll just throw a little warning up on the topic of the post Oh ya, I'm gonna but my nose in for 10% of that million dollars
-
To all the posters and everyone that helps us out with the site, your all awesome Now if only we could get a dollar a hit...I'm sure we could save up the money to buy the Sox in no time
-
I think it would be a blast to do.
-
That isn't correct. Once they clear waivers, they are fully released and then you can claim them for the min and the other team pays the rest.

I've heard a lot about Jenks. He's one of the guys I'd love to acquire because he's a special kid. Unfortunately he has a whole lot of problems upstairs.
