  1. I love it, the Sox game is on!!!!. Great bunt by Miles basehit. Two on board, with nobody out. Missed the 1st inning, so the Sox are going to have to redo it and score 5 more this inning.
  2. 2 months in the minors will not change him from the next rob deer if thats his destiny to the next mickey mantle...with his talent if he is not ready now he never will be Disagree. He hasn't played baseball full time since he was drafted. That takes some adjustments. The guy will be alright. I almost think he'll be in Charlotte all season and then next year will be his time. He didn't look ready when I saw him. I just hope he could find a way to get ready now, cause we could really use that left handed bat (most of the time thats the side he'll swing from)

    K.Stewart

He was guaranteed being the opening day starter. They don't think the Bears will draft a qb with the 4th pick in the draft, but if they want to they can.

    Harris/Miles

But, versatilty doesn't mean everything, look at Josh Paul. I don't think Paul is as bad as some here, but if you can't do a couple things well, then with the amount of good players fighting for jobs, your going to have a tough time getting on the 25 man. The only reason Harris is there is because he's the only guy that can backup in center. If Rios could do it on ocassions, then the Sox would just stick with that and then carry Miles.
  5. The problem with Vegas is look how good the bowl games do there. They get like 10,000 people. The population there is definately growing and the houses out there outside of the city are pretty damn nice, but still, I don't know if they have the group that would support a major league baseball stadium.
  6. Recap: Loiaza Earns Rotation Slot By Mario Scalise March 14, 2003
  7. Some people are against him no matter what he does. That is unfortunate, and those people will probably never give him credit no matter what he does. Well, I call it like I see it and I think he's done a pretty good job this offseason. He went out and landed an ace pitcher for pretty much nothing. Before that he brought us in a guy that is happy being a closer, and was one of the top closers in the majors last year and is very young. Him and Foulke are both good, but Koch will be here a longer time, which shows it was not just him thinking shorterm which is what so many have thought one of his problem was in some of his previous trades. After that he could of said hey, I call it an offseason, but he signed Flash Gordon to fill a slot in the bullpen and when Flash is healthy he's one of the best in the game. Then he signed Rick White who was dominate with the playoff bound Cardinals last season, once he joined the team. He didn't just sit there and say, we have prospects, so I'm just going to hand them the job. He's going to make those guys earn the job and I think thats the best way to do it. A bullpen is a place where you want a real good mixture of guys. We got two lefties, one throws pretty hard the other softer, both god odd motions. Then we have one righty in White that doesn't throw too hard. Glover who has 3 pitches, well pretty much 3 in a fastball change and curve. Then you get Flash and his fastball curve combo. And of course Billy Koch. With the rotation, now that he had 4 guys he could of said hey thats enough, but once again he thought, lets go out and sign some more guys in this case, Heredia and Loiaza to minor league deal and now people are talking about Loiaza being the 4th guy in the rotation ahead of the "sore" Danny Wright. He also brought in Brian Daubach and Armando Rios really strengthening the bench, especially compared to what it was last year, where we had absolutely nothing on the bench. To me he's showing signs that he's really learning. In previous years we probably wouldn't have Flash or White or Loiaza and potentially Daubach, but this year he's learned that a team needs a ton of depth and you can never have too much and he's done just that. He realizes you can't rush prospects and this is going to be good for the Sox prospects. They will get their time to learn in the minors, so when they finally come up, they'll be ready. Of course what happens in the season who knows, but I seriously could see KW winning a gm of the year award of things go RIGHT and I'm talking World Series.
  8. If you save it 247, email it to me and I'll put it up on the server and that will work.
  9. 2nd round. The guy is one of the better atheltes in the Sox system, at least when it comes to position players. He's on the fast track to the majors. He could really shoot through the system if he builds on what he did last year. Reed is one of my favorites, because he's a college guy that should be ready in two years. He could be there at the start of next season, but that would involve some serious crushing of the ball and the Sox rushing him. I see him and Borchard as the future replacements when the Sox lose Thomas and potentially Lee (I think lee will be back the next year, after that who knows). Still, its kind of hard to predict the future, so I try to go one year at a time. This year is going to be great!!!
  10. Well with an arm injury you never know how it will react. Its kind of like a dead arm, some pitch threw it and if its during spring they won't. You don't know the severity but until he gets back out there and just goes and is pain free, then you got to be worried.
  11. Happy 16th man. We said it to ya early a couple weeks ago, now we'll say it to ya a the right time. Hope your having a great day
  12. I think only you can view it, cause I went to the address and nothing. It must be you have access to it because you entered a password or something to create it, but no one else can see it.
  13. I didn't see today's game, but the one thign I noticed about Borchard is he doesn't seem to shift his weight well and is very flat footed. Mario noticed the same thing when we were watching. Joe has a ton of power and at times I saw him put on a beautiful swing. Its definately a lot better looking then it was last spring. Still, he has some things to learn, but I don't doubt the fact that he could learn them at the major league level. Now in his defense, I think he was working on going opposite field when he was there. He wasn't trying to pull anything as it looked like he was working on going to left field. His arm is for real and he's got plenty of range out there. I also agree with Baggs assesment. I'm not saying he has to be here to start the season, but come playoff time, it would be huge if he was ready.
  14. I think thats what happened. Its amazing all the stories and hype that kid had.
  15. Awesome job as usual Clujer. Also, special thanks to DASOXROX for his comments. Rock on the two of ya
  16. 2003 Minor League Preview: Kannapolis Intimidators By Mike Doyle March 14, 2003
  17. You'd still have 4 righties in a row. Garland, Wright, Loiaza and Colon.
  18. Maybe we get lucky and to be honest fellas, I'm kind of doubting Jon Rauch a bit. I love his curveball and I've yet to see him pitch yet. I liked him last year but this guy shouldn't be struggling. Then again, curve ball pitcher struggle in Arizona and Rauch's best pitch has to be the curve. None of his other pitches really have great movement so he has to rely on command and other things. Hopefully he's gonna get things in gear. As far as Loiaza goes, this sounds good. I wonder if he's throwing softer for some reason. I remember Matthew mentioning that Loiaza threw in the mid 90's. Either way, maybe the Sox get lucky with Loiaza. The guy has good stuff and is a veteran, now would be about the time to put everything together
  19. For those watching it on tv, how is Loiaza stuff looking? What else is he throwing besides his hard fastball?
  20. I got to go with none of the above and picking up another pitcher. With a #4 as a ? and a ? of a #5 it just wouldn't be worht it. I'd talk to Finley, but I wouldn't want to lose a draft pick. Then I'd turn to a pitcher that has fallen out of liking or a team that is just looking to cut payroll and hope JR was willing to add it. Maybe take all of Vazquez's contract and give them two pithcing prospects. For anyone else, if we take on their contract, then we give up nothing but some bums in return cause thats how the trading has worked thus far this offseason.
  21. Sidney Ponson. The Orioles are looking to dump him and he hasn't really lived up to his hype. I think they could figure a way to get him if needed.
  22. ive never seen kelly over 84 myself..ive seen him as low as 79 and even a 76 in there as well... hes not a high number tosser.......i dont ever recall him breakin 90...............he may have but ive never seen it........ He just relies on his good movement and control as well as the delivery. Well if he's throwing 84 and can get guys out then its fine by me.

    Jersey Dilemma?

I'm 6ft so would a 44 be alright for me Cerb. I'm like 155 or so. god you must be a skinny little s*** Lol, its what you think, but I'm not really all that skinny. Right now I'm working on putting muscle mass on. A year ago, I was more like 170, but now have worked on getting cut and more ripped. I am not too ripped right now, lol. Just slowly but surely improving. I'm a lot quicker too now. The big thing was just not eating fast food anymore. In highschool I ate a lot of it, now I don't really touch the stuff. I'm getting my mile time back down into the 6's and stuff. Figure better start preparing for when I get old, lol
  24. Like Dan Wright wright wins 14 games his first full season as a starter and we are gonna move him to the pen???..please..neither should go to the pen but garland should go before wright Baggs, disagree. Garland really impressed me in spring training. His bullpen sessions were spectacular. So were Colon's. I like wright a whole lot and think he has front of the line stuff, but right now I'm scared big time about his health. Wright definately needs more time. No way do you put a guy that pitched darn good down the stretch last year and is just getting started. I'm with Baggs on Wright, always will be too I think. Last year baggs and I agreed on Garland being over-rated. This year he's improved a whole lot, imo. It started when Coop came here and he started throwing other pitches then just a fastball. whitesoxfan..thats cool jason...you'd have to seew right healthy before you can compare the two...last year i saw them both pitch twice...wright impressed me alot more..man i pray he didnt screw up his elbow...he 's got a great career ahead of him..as does garland...hopefully they both stay healthy because it will be fun to see which one does become the better pitcher Ya, I saw Wright pitch, mainly on tv, which doesn't say much, but I've watched him throw in the pen as well. The guy is very impressive. He started the one game I saw at Comiskey last year. I love his stuff. Great fastball, knuckle curve, good movement, and an improving change.
