Iowa also had a 6 week layoff and that will kill a team that runs more of a pass oriented offense like Iowa does. It would be like having a pitcher sit out for 5 or 6 weeks and then come back and ask him to play well, its just not going to happen.
-
They paid him too much money. I would of went to about 2 million, thats it. He's solid, but nothing special. Get him out of that pitchers park in LA and things will be quite a bit different.
-
Wasn't the big problem with him, that he was smoking dope on the team plane with Matt Anderson?
-
why? they were among the worst things ever in music... I never said they were great...its just I had forgotten all about them till they were mentioned. Never did I listen to them...at that time I think I was listening to offspring and other stuff.

I wasn't shocked OSU won it. I put a bit of money on them (20 bucks), knowing full and well that Miami wouldn't beat them by 12, which was the spread. It was a shame a controversial call came into effect, although I think their was a penalty on the play. Whether that penalty was pass interference or holding, I'm not sure, but I know that holding did happen on the play, and either way it would of given the Buckeyes a first down in the same position and they would of still got the touchdown. Awesome game though. Its really too bad for Mcgahee. He's a real stud of a runningback and now they are almost sure he will have to sit out next season as a medical redshirt.

Yep, Phillips gets compared to Buerhle quite a bit. As far as Buerhle goes, I remember when he came up, I think he made his first start against the Angels and struggled. Not many people thought he was for real, although you couldn't deny his stats. It took him a while to adjust, and then in spring training he ended up winning a starters spot and all was history. Sometimes you just luck out. I do think the Sox liked him, but he never got the hype of players like Wells and Garland, mainly because its much harder to predict soft tossers.

The guy is a gamer. I know he has some serious issues too, but he plays baseball the way it was meant to be played, Hard. He isn't afraid to brush a guy back and I love that in a pitcher. I hate it when its the other team doing it, but when its your going doing it, I enjoy it, because the brush back sets up so many things for a pitcher. If you can't pitch inside, your not going to be good. Glavine is about the only guy that's been able to live on the outside corner and have a really good career. He does this because he has such good control, but even he ocassionally busts guys inside.

I'd just like to inform everyone that Soxtalk's message boards will be down for a couple hours tonight. I'm not sure when exactly, but it will probably be tonight. Were in the process of switching boards and right now were doing our best to convert databases and everything so we will still have the posts on the new board and the member info and all that good stuff. I'm not sure if its possible, but were doing all we can to try and get it their. I apologize for the delay, and once we switch boards, it will take me a bit to get them perfect, as in the colors and all that good stuff, but they will work exceptionally well. The address will still be the same, their will just be some maintenance going on tonight and were very sorry for the delay. Soxnet.net will still be up and if any breaking news occurs, the info will be up their, and we'll quickly build a temp board for discussions. Thanks for bearing with us while we work on making improvements that should make this place even better!!!!!!

It is true. He's rated as the top cover linebacker in the country.

Blackhawks handing it to the St. Loser Blows!!!
Chisoxfn replied to BridgeportHeather's topic in SLaM
All I know is the hawks have some exceptional young players and this team should only get better over the next couple years. Also, I'm with giving Tbo some rest. Got to keep the guy fresh. -
All I'm saying is Halama is a crafty lefty that had an era under 4 last year and pitched in a tough division. He ain't great, no, but he could maybe put up a 4.50 era or so and with this lineup that would be good enough. Also, he is a winning pitcher, of course thats with a real good team like the Mariners.

Weaver is probably the only guy the Yanks could move and actually get value for him. The thing is, everyone knows the Yanks must move some pitchers which will still hurt their value if they tried moving Weaver. Still, Weaver doesn't make anywhere near as much as the others (Or at least I don't think he does). If I were the Sox he'd probably be the only guy I'd talk to the Yanks about, and I wouldn't exactly offer the house. They could use some catching prospects and I am against trading Olivo, but I bet it could get it done since the Yanks want to move Posada. Heck, maybe Paul and some others, I dunno.

I think DC could support a team if it were to compete. I know Angelos (Orioles Owner) has always said he is against it, but DC and Baltimore are a bit more then 15 minutes away. Its probably a 2 to 2 and a half hour drive during rush hour. The Angels are just an hour from both the Dodgers and Padres.

Boras to me is a pretty good agent as in he does an awesome job keeping his players happy. Of course, he doesn't always do whats the best for the game, but he's always looking out for his client.

It looks like Daniel Snyder, owner of the Redskins, and Bob Johnson(I may of botched his name) new owner of the Charlotte Hornets franchise (Well, I doubt they'll calm them the Hornets) are going to team up and try to buy the Expos and bring them to Washington DC. To me this would make a lot of sense, if they are actually going to go 50/50.
-
Thinking harder about this deal, I probably wouldn't do it. I'd give them Wright and a prospect, thats it. They can take it or leave it. Colon is going to walk and they have to move him. I don't see anyone offering anything too grand for him now that the Yanks are out of the picture, so I'd just sit back and wait, his price will drop tremendously.

Watch the Jets play, they are a good football team. Will they go to the superbowl? Doubtful, its just so hard when you have to keep winning on the road in the playoffs. Still, they got a great young qb, a great runningback, solid recievers, a tight end, and a good defense. They lost to the Bears and the Bears happened to play a pretty good game. Were the Bears bad, hell ya they were, but the Jets played pretty bad that week. Also, the Bears lost a ton of close games this year because they had such a weak offense, so many penalties, and of course the injuries.
-
If we locked Colon up long term I would make the deal, reluctantly though. I like Crede a whole ton, but their is nothing more important than a stud starting pitcher, imo.
-
Supposedly he can be had for pretty much nothing. He's a pretty solid, 30 year old left handed pitcher with starting experience and wouldn't cost the Sox much anything price wise. How bout offering the Mariners Ginter for Halama or something along those lines. Of course, I don't know why they want to get rid of him.
