  1. I just don't like the idea that it rotates each year between an AL team and an NL team. Of course, I also don't want to see any injuries occur. I'm all for carrying a couple reserver players (Keep a couple of the minor leaguers on hand to participate if needed) I know the Minor League All Stars are their and it would be an awesome experience for a couple of them. Also Doublem, remember, if this is the case, the games will be managed a lot different next year. They won't be looking to get everyone in and they will keep a ton of guys in case it goes extra innings.
  2. Well I feel better about our rotation then most. I got a lot of confidence in Jon Rauch and I think wright, Garland and Buerhle are a pretty good top of the rotation. It would be an awesome top of the rotation if you throw Colon into that mix, with Rauch on the backend. I like Biddle a lot and I think he's earned a shot, but he's a huge questionmark in my book cause he's never proven to me he can throw innings and go deep into games. Wright and Garland have done so, as has Buerhle and I think Rauch will be able to do so.
  3. Ya, thats another reason its a good move.
  4. this is larry beinfest GM of the marlins. the article can be found here Thats good news. I love hearing all these teams drop out. Don't ask me why, cause I'm just getting my hopes up, but man, I'm just so stinking optimistic about getting Colon and having a shot at going to the series. This is going to be the most I'd be willing to give up for Colon though. Corwin Malone, Brian West, and Tim Hummell. I'd also consider Corwin Malone, Felix Diaz, and Tim Hummell. I'd hold off on giving them Hummell, but whatever it takes to get this deal done without giving up top prospects.
  5. Sox Promote Scout; Hire Two By Mario Scalise The White Sox today announced three scouting moves to the team's professional and ameteur scouting staffs. Rick Ingalls was promoted to West Coast Supervisor and Derek Valenzuela and Chuck Fox were hired as the Southwest Supervizor and Northeast Area scout respectively.
  6. I know a couple people here are considering going. I'm not worried about getting tickets, but I just like reading this cause it means spring training is closer to happening. I can't wait to get out to Arizona, some nice hot weather, where you can watch baseball.
  7. Bud Selig is pushing for a new rule to come into effect starting this year. The league which wins the All Star Game would be the league that gets home field advantage in the World Series. I've been waiting for baseball to make this move for a while and I'm glad its finally coming around. This will put some importance on the game and should help make the game at Comiskey this year, more competitive and better to watch. One of the first good things Selig has done.
  8. Here are his numbers He made 30 starts for the diamondbacks last season. He went 10-12 with a 4.51 era and threw 175.2 innings. He held opponents to at .264 batting avg. He's currently 32 years old and turns 33 next December. If I'm not mistaken that was his first year back after having some arm troubles, but I could be wrong. Helling was very sucessful in the past with the Rangers, but he's always had era's in the mid 4's and thats what you should expect. Still, he can pitch innings, 4 of the past 5 seasons he's thrown 200 plus innings. Last season was his first where he didn't. In 1998 he won 20 games but had a 4.41 era.

Contreras f***ed up a lot of arms. Most notably, Sirotka, Biddle, Rauch, Butter, and Wunsch just to name a few. Lou Pinella didn't call Contreras "the worst" pitching coach for nothing. How can anyone say he screwed up Rauch's arm. Rauch was in the minors when he was hurt, far away from Nardi. But Nardi did screw up many an arm. As far as Sirotka, the Cubs offered him a pretty good contract as he'll make good money if he makes the roster. Basically, the Sox are sitting here waiting to sign a 500k pitcher, so if they went after Sirotka, that would be the only acquisition. It stinks to say that, but its the likely scenario.
  10. Well if Colon goes to Florida then Vazquez still has to be moved and the Expos don't have any trading partners for him, so the Sox still are in excellent positon. Simply Supply and demand, if their are only 2 suitors out their for 2 pitchers, your not going to be able to talk up the price.
  11. Helling wouldn't be too expensive. Realisticly we could add Colon and Helling for roughly 8-9 million for this year. Vazquez and Helling would be a bit cheaper. I love hearing so many teams fall out of the Colon sweepstakes, but the Marlins are still their and that deal may go through if the Reds like Penny's track record. The Marlins are offering up quite a bit, meaning it will likely cost the Sox more, but I'm more then willing to give up good players to get an ace in return, especially if they signed him longterm.
  12. Paul Wilson is a pretty good pitcher who has a lot of ability and would be a good pickup. I just heard something about him on the radio today, I don't know if he signed anywhere, but I remember hearing his name. Anyway, I wouldn't complain, right now I just want to see the Sox pick up another pitcher.
  13. I think the Expos would too. That's the good thing...if they didn't, they'd definately make it if we took Tatis. We'll never take on Tatis contract. I can't blame the Sox either cause he makes way too much although he is a very talented player.
  14. I think the rumor is true, just waiting on the health reports. Once again I will state that nobody knows what is goign on except for the GM's. I'm with ya on that Ian.

The Evo is a sweet car.
  16. Their is still a couple hours before that becomes official Cali

Man I wanna go to the Auto Show too, but I am really lazy Even though my car is there. Whats your car cali? It was pretty cool. They had the new f150 their and the Cadillac concept car that has 1000 hp in it, that was designed off the f22. It was real sweet.
  18. The only way you'd hear about this out in California, Jason, would be if you watched the Chicago news on WGN Superstation (if you even get that out there). I get the WGN news, but I never watch it.
  19. Really, he actually signed with them today? Man, after he had his agent tell the Dodgers that he wasn't going to be back with the Cards.
  20. Helling would be a sweet pickup if the Sox were to deal Wright in the Colon deal, then they'd be able to pick up another back of the end guy. I guess the Expos don't want Brad Penny, that or their just wasn't much truth to the rumor. It doesn't make sense to me.
  21. Thank God! I dont want to do it. Mike..thats Gary's specialty...well that and being cheap, he's exceptional at that, but so am I.
  22. Either I don't watch enough news or I don't get this coverage out here in Cali.
  23. I was at that game at Anaheim Stadium...it was so cool. Every time I'm ever their the Sox lose (i got to pretty much every game they play) and finally they made the comeback and it was awesome. I was on the tv, you could hear my voice screaming in the background.
  24. I woke up this morning to the sounds of ESPN Radio and they were talking that a Bartolo Colon to Florida deal is the latest possibility and that they are discussing a package that will include Brad Penny and most likely a couple prospects. If thats indeed true, then its going to cost the Sox a decent amount to outbid Florida. I still think we could do it, without giving up one of our key guys. Malone, West, and an infield prospect or throw in Josh Stewart.
