QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 21, 2018 -> 11:32 AM) The Knicks make more money than the Bulls, and they aren't winning anything the next 2 seasons. I really doubt they do anything but buy him out or release him or trade him for someone else's just as expensive garbage. Giving up a pick to get rid of him makes no sense. I agree with you. But I'm not taking on his contract which ties up our cap for 2 years without getting a very good pick in return (no reason to do it for anything other than that if I'm the Bulls).

QUOTE (Quin @ Feb 21, 2018 -> 10:45 AM) Noah saga growing in NY. Felicio + Zipser for a Top 8 protected pick this year and Noah. That or their 2019 pick I'm not taking Noah for a top 8 protected pick. Not worth it. If the pick is unprotected, I'll take it.

QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 06:56 PM) I don’t disagree, but I don’t know how to fix it. And in 2018, in almost every sport, you need to be bad to get good. I do not agree with this. Especially in baseball. I see no reason you need to get bad. A few higher draft picks in baseball is hardly going to be the differentiator to the top. Basketball is the most extreme in terms of value of draft picks because one player can literally change your entire franchise (whether via draft (i.e., Cleveland getting a top pick when Lebron was a high schooler) or Cleveland (when they signed Lebron from Miami as a free agent). Or many other examples of such. In football I also argue that the concept doesn't necessarily hold true. In football..it isn't about tanking it is about having an elite QB, if you can find that you are great. Yes, quickest way is typically throw a top pick, but it doesn't necessarily have to be top 5 pick.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 04:31 PM) I understand why they are doing it, but I do hope all sports do something eventually to prevent this type of thing. Being horrible on purpose should not be rewarded. I think it is probably more about ensuring that Lavine, Dunn, and Lauri get more shots (vs. Lopez and Holliday who both tend to put up some shots). But I fully agree with you on all of your points.

Moustakas linked to Sox again
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 01:04 PM) .314 OBP to .521 SLG. League-wide walk rates have been quietly trending upward along with the explosion in homers, making his OBP well below average and the SLG not really all that far above average. He's exactly the player type that makes OPS deceiving. Thank you. Very helpful.

Wow interesting. Grant wasn't really starting, was he? I presume it is more Felicio, Nwaba, Lavine, Mark, and Dunn as the starters with Payne taking more of Grant's minutes off the bench?

Moustakas linked to Sox again
QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 12:47 PM) Sign Moustakas to 4 years/55 Million. Then next year try and get Machado and move Moustakas to 1b If that is the type of money Moustakas is going for than I'm all over that deal. Figure out creative way to get under $50M for purposes of draft pick compensation (no idea if there is a creative way to doing that or not).

Moustakas linked to Sox again
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 10:41 AM) The 0.7 was in 27 games. And he really only started to hit 3 or 4 years ago. It depends what kind of a bargain he is. I wouldn't be too worried about a 2nd round pick being lost. He's definitely better than what you would expect a second rounder to be. Boras being is agent probably means the bargain cannot be met. I'm in your camp that the pick isn't that big of a deal. Its do you think he'll be a valuable piece in years 2-4 of the deal (presuming he's going to sign for at least 4 years). He's an interesting player given how he missed 2016 but than came back very strong (from a power perspective) but his WAR (if you go with that as an end all be all) is pretty weak. Said another way, I have a hard time seeing how Yolmer was better than Moustakas a year ago. I recognize Yolmer's D was pretty good and that is obviously driving the value but man Moustakas value of the bat should have been higher given the power numbers, OPS, etc.

Moustakas linked to Sox again
Can someone explain to me why Moustakas has such a low WAR compared to his traditional stats, which were all very good in 2017. OBP was a little low but he had a good OPS and obviously big power numbers. I always thought Mike was pretty solid defensively as well.

Rear facing car seats don't do anything
Interesting. Never had any issues getting them in the car, but the hard part was as my kids got closer to when they were supposed to be able to move to forward facing was trying to keep them in a "backward" facing because it became less comfortable (and partly because they knew that if they sat the other way they could see mommy / daddy, etc).

I'm probably delusional from working so many hours this week (and still being at work right now after being here till 2 AM the night before) but the Bulls are going to be f***ing good. Lauri, Dunn, Lavine....plus draft picks...hell YEAH!!! Add some free agents in a year and BOOOO YAAAAA!!!! Unfortunately they are way too good so we are going to need the ping pong balls to fall in our favor and THEY WILL!!!!

Financial News
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 15, 2018 -> 08:34 AM) IMO its an overcorrection. Again, I don't follow the Chicago real estate market, but I did a quick google and found a number of articles...this one happens to have charts and it hits on the same trend I've seen in my local (which is I believe pretty common across a lot of larger areas which have seen job growth, etc). and that is that the supply of properties is at all time lows. So you literally have no one putting homes on the market (from a historical sense) and therefor the only real supply is coming from builders (who even with the new builds/developments out there) you are at major lows. It is what is driving the massive boom in higher-end apartments across most major urban areas (and why rents in many urban areas are skyrocketing). To be quite frank, in many areas, we aren't building near enough and because of that we are artificially propping up prices which I would argue is not necessarily a good thing (as I believe ownership is a good thing and you don't want affordability to be extremely low which it is in many areas). http://www.chicagonow.com/getting-real/201...eps-sales-flat/

I'm pretty sure those rules existed when I had my 1st dance in 6th grade. As you got older the rules changed.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 13, 2018 -> 10:36 AM) Chloe Kim’s a great story and that was live in prime time. So was the mens halfpipe qualifier. It will be hard for the actual final (tonight) to measure up to the performance those guys put on last night. It was spectacular. I hope White delivers again cause man he made that look easy last night.

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 13, 2018 -> 08:48 AM) No I'm with Jason. In baseball they play a bunch of young players, get rid of their vets. But they are playing. This sitting half your team garbage is crap. It's the way NBA teams tank that is so much more obnoxious. No one is saying they shouldn't try and be bad, but these teams don't even care about the development of any of the pieces and would just not play the rest of the sesaon. It should be punished. Yes.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 13, 2018 -> 05:34 AM) The push button transmission on the MDX eliminated it immediately. Such a dumb thing. Nothing really groundbreaking in that category that I saw. Everyone was gathered around the new Traverse, but thats about it. The rest are pretty much the same as they have been. Volvo has done some nice things with their interior, they are always so creative. Having not researched the actual vehicles...I absolutely love the Volvo (White paint color) XC 90. It is just a beautiful vehicle. Maybe living where I am I'm just sick of seeing X5's and Mercedes SUV's and the occasional XC-90 just looks so nice (and their white is a very bright and sharp white paint).

Lauri had a really strong game in the post. His 3 ball isn't falling right now and it was nice to see them get the ball to them down low. Didn't see the 4th so can't comment on that, but for 1st 3 quarter Lauri played really well. Lavine is explosive and is getting better every night. I truly believe the NBA should find a way to rig the lottery to reward the Bulls. Absolute sick what a lot of teams do. Yes, you can tank and that is fine and good, but going out of your way to sit "healthy" players is just crappy for the sport. I'm a fan of the NBA and what teams are doing is just bad for the league.

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 12, 2018 -> 01:54 PM) Grant is my least favorite type of point guard, where his assist stats look good, but you watch him and realize he just holds and dribbles around until he can get someone a midrange jumper fairly open. He is awful. He never passes at opportune times and is just a giant hog. He is perfect for the tank. Even when he has a good game (by the stat line), I don't see it with my eyes. Pretty much never have I ever said...wow he played a good game. The one thing I'll say is that when you give him a somewhat open jumper, he's pretty good but otherwise he's just a giant ball hog who can't create and doesn't get the ball out of his hands quick enough (nor can he make plays in the paint...like at all). Note: All of this is Grant as a starter...he's fine as a bench guy and he always plays hard.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 9, 2018 -> 09:38 PM) Terrible win. At least Lavine won't play tomorrow since it's a back to back (so likely loss), but now they need the other tank teams to win. Lavine was incredible down the stretch. Hopefully it is a sign of the type of player he will be. He was flat out dominating. Electric athleticism mixed with a great shot.

My crazy trade prediction of the day...Lopez, Justin Holliday and the Pelicans pick for JR Smith and the Nets pick. Not sure if we can actually make that trade (because of protections on the Pelicans pick).

Definitely don't mind this move as a Bull fan. I presume we are about to trade Lopez or at a minimum are just going to play him less minutes and give Vonleh a lot more run (obviously along with Portis and others) to see if there is anything there.

Rakovic is a 32 year old who plays in the serbian league. We got his rights from Orlando back in 2014 (when we traded Anthony Randolph to Magic).
