Really, you could have just put it one episode earlier and it would have still served its purpose but then you don't get the same pace from the back to back episdoes of both halves of Alexandria. So either you stick it in the middle (right after the episode where Morgan doesn't kill) or you do it now. I think their are pro's and con's to either but I kind of liked how they paced the episodes to start and then went to this one. I felt having the Morgan episode in between would have taken away from the beginning of the action and then I presume the next arch will be related to what happened 2 episodes ago. Either way, I still have loved this season.
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 10:47 AM) Yeah that couldve been the case. Willing to throw away the first half of offense though? After the third time they did it it was like cmon now guys. Yeah - They were clearly nervous against an above average d (with a megshift oline) and the game plan was to make sure they were still relevant in the 2nd half and then ideally turn it on. The gameplan worked, we just had our own issues where we didn't execute. That said, personell aren't their either.
  3. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) The only thing I could attribute the start to was that they felt they needed to show those plays to spread things out and get the Vikings leaning forward enough to break it open later. If they started with going down the field it might have opened the Bears up to some salivating db's because of the pressure the DLine would have created. And in theory we should have won the game. Missed field goal, stupid punt return, and then the drop by Langford. That said, I still have no idea what we were doing being so conserved but it had to be a factor of the line. We utterly dominated Vikings in 2nd half and got very little to show for it. Our special teams is just brutal. It was the one coach we hired where I was dissapointed (as Rodgers didn't have a great track record). That said, personnel is also an issue.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 07:09 PM) I really am starting to wonder how many adults there are when 50% of the GOP is currently supporting candidates with basically no platform except "sticking it to the man" and not being politically correct but saying whatever first comes into one's mind without any filter or forethought. Of course, in this case, it's even more ironic because the man isn't "liberal Democrats" or hedge fund managers but the majority of the middle class who will suffer as a result from misguided policies. Do we really want someone like Trump or Carson or even Fiorina with the nuclear codes? And a staunch republican would counter that by saying, how many adults their are when people are basically voting for a full blown socialist and a semi socialist. Pendulum works both ways. That said, I have no idea what your post has to do with this thread.

Given how much I enjoy Morgan (partially because I thought his character on Jericho was also badass), I thought it was great to finally get to see an episode dedicated to him. Chilling ending with those comments.
  6. We won't get outrebounded if our bench bigs were the starters, but Pau is a lousy fundamental rebounder. Niko is still developing (I do have hope for him being a pretty good rebounder). It is also 4 games...so we have to consider the sample size.
  7. That drop by Langford hurt but otherwise he looked solid. This year is all about progress. Jay, once again, looked very comfortable, although I'm not exactly sure what we were doing in the first half (in terms of play calls). I suppose our oline is total patchwork and Vikings have a good defense. Oh and any nonsense about trading Jeffrey needs to go. He's young and very very good and we have ample cap room. Pay the man.
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 11:13 AM) The immigration policy for Cubans is vastly different than what most immigrants face. Its far easier to become a citizen as a cuban immigrant due to the 1966 Cuban Adjustment Act. So its unclear how other ethnic groups would see Rubio because in my experience other immigrants generally do not like Cubans because they perceive Cubans as being given special treatment. Ok...so I'm going to guess most people in the country, immigrants included, would not know this. Maybe I was born here but I've never thought of it nor have I ever even heard of the 1966 Cuban adjustment act so maybe I'm just ignorant but I feel this whole post is a giant stretch given how uninformed the typical voting public (& evidently me as well) is.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 10:51 AM) Why is the legal definition of a multibillion dollar gambling business a joke? They just found out that employees of these companies are basically using insider information to game the system, this is not a joke. You want to know why Christie wants it to be thought of as a joke? Because of the gambling in his state. If that was the case, Rubio wouldn't have answered the way he did. He basically said just let them play. His answer may not have been the best but the point was it was a dumbass question and I agree.
  10. I think part of it is, it isn't necessarily an issue everyone would be up to speed with. I thought Bush's response was fine, but I think their are far more pressing questions to be asked during a presidential debate. I thought a lot of the questions were plain awful. It was like back in the recession when we had politicians busy dealing with the steroid issue in baseball...I'm sorry, that issue shouldn't have been getting that sort of attention when we had far more pressing needs as a country. By the way, I have zero idea how this fanduel stuff is legal. I don't buy the "skill" argument but I'm not an expert in the arena. If you could argue fantasy a skill I would think you could make the same argument about sports betting. The reason fantasy football works well is that you don't have a middle man controlling the money so it is just done for fun with small cash by people who know each other (kind of like your neighborhood poker game).
  11. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 09:54 AM) When did you think the moderators were flat out lying? I saw the critique of the tax question to Rubio (a bad question, granted). Whether the moderator was lying regarding that question comes down to interpretation though. The Conservative tax foundation gave the largest benefits under Rubio's plan to the bottom 10%, but the top 1% see the second largest benefit under the Plan. The question was bad, don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure it was a lie. A graph of benefits by income level is in the link below. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/10/29...onds-with-this/ Ultimately, though, I agree with you. Lots of bad questions. The opening question in particular was absolutely awful (what's your biggest weakness?). On Rubio, I tend to agree. I'd also like to hear how he plans to make up the $6T in revenue the cuts produce. For a debate that was supposed to focus on the economy, I'd have liked to actually heard the candidates discuss, I don't know, economic policy? I'll go to the easiest lie of the bunch...the debate was changed from 3 hours to 2 hours...it was not always scheduled to be 2 hours. Trump almost blew a gasket when the jackass responded to that.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 07:15 AM) I only got to watch the first half, will watch the second half tonight. I only saw two questions that involved asking one candidate about another - seems like a reasonable level to me. What they did do - which is good and bad - is they called out candidates on some problems in their policy positions, statements or history. Well guess what? They should do that. Now a couple of them were over the top, granted. But this is where the GOP shows badly, for the most part. They come off as whiners. Cruz gets asked a question right in his wheelhouse, elects instead to go on a temper tantrum, then is shocked when he doesn't get to answer the question because he ran out of time. Dude is a jackass. Also, media bias exists - but this isn't the way to illustrate it. There have been three debates, and the "soft" one far and away was CNN (who lean left a bit, though not quite to MSNBC levels). FOX (who are of course heavily right-leaning) and CNBC (who are business-focused) were the "tough" ones. Their argument is without merit, in this case. In the credit where credit is due department - Jeb Bush, Donald Trump and sort of Ben Carson each at least partially answered the opening question. The other 7 didn't even bother to try. I thought Fox did the best, CNN they were a bit of pushovers but fair, but these guys were the pits. I thought their were a lot of bad questions that I had no interest in. The fantasy football question to Bush was just horrid and to be frank, their were a couple times where I felt that it was the moderators who were flat out lying (vs. the candidates). Republican's need to get some of these guys out of the race. Carson had an interesting strategy...just stay a fly on the wall...yeah you won't take a step forward but I think he knows this is not an arena he shines. Carly and Rubio continue to dominant the debate format and it looks more an more evident to me that eventually, when the dust unfolds, Rubio is going to be the next candidate and he is one of the guys on that stage I'd vote for. I'd vote for him, Jeb or Kasich and to be frank I have no issues with Christie or Carly either. I actually think Carly would be the best but I don't think she can stand up and beat out the smear campaign they'll push on her (including her own audio bytes from the layoffs / outsourcing). To be frank, those sound clips don't bother me, I understand the realities of business, but it just isn't a rhetoric that a huge voting base will get their arms around. I'd love to see Carly blow Clinton out of the water, it would just be amazing TV. Rubio will have to take a closer look at his tax plan though, zero capital gains taxes are going to be a tough selling point given who directly benefits (you can argue indirect benefits of it...but the direct benefits are the wealthiest people in this country).
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 07:00 PM) Brooks was not bad. He was pretty efficient when in the game. I don't know how 12 points, 3 assists, 1 rebound and 1 turnover on 5-9 is bad. Noah and Gibson were bad. Noah was doing his part on the glass. Offensively he was rough but he's looked athletic and solid defensively. I've been very pleased with him and Taj thus far and think they'll be a nice second unit. Both look more explosive then last year. They are both still rusty though on the other end.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 06:57 PM) Chicago Bulls ‏@chicagobulls 1m1 minute ago .@JimmyButler tonight: 24 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds. 9-11 from the field, 3-3 from downtown. Butler hit some tough shots tonight too. He was a beast at the end of the game. I've been impressed with Noah. He looks far more active and athletic then he did at any point last year. I think we'll see him gain confidence (which is huge for Joe) and we will see a player closer to 2 years ago vs. last year Jo (and that was really because last year Jo was so bad).
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 01:07 PM) Injury to Boozer and Noah forced both Taj and Asik into the rotation early in the season in 2010 But they were going to get their minutes anyway. It wasn't like they weren't getting played / weren't going to get minutes based upon the construction of that lineup.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 02:00 PM) .333/.413/.576 12 Homers in about 1/3 of the PA. Projected out over a full season 36 dingers and an almost 1.000 OPS. All goes back to our original points...what do the scouts say. I think their are enough uncertainties regarding the talent level in the Korean league that it is unlikely this guy is getting some mega deal, unless of course he is just off the charts from a tools perspective. Just imagine Andy Wilkins in the Korean league.
  17. QUOTE (kevo880 @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 01:40 PM) When you hear 1 in 11 commercial buildings I can understand how that sounds. It makes it sound like when you are walking around 1 out of every 11 buildings you see is either growing or selling marijuanna...since you spent time here recently you should know that's not how it seems or feels. The city, by no means, feels like it's being taken over by marijuana. In fact I've had family and friends come visit and they are shocked at how it's not what they thought it would be. They thought it would be in your face everywhere you go and most of them never even smelled or saw it once aside from the occasional dispensary that you pass while driving around. Oh I agree...I was just surprised in your stat and figured it was 1 shop in every 11 buildings which could be smaller. And I really didn't notice any of it and actually expected to see more of it. I did think their were more vagrants and homeless than previous years but again, that was not scientific by any means (and purely judging by my point).
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 12:53 PM) It was fair market because no one knew if anyone from the Korean Pro League could hit here. Kang seems to have allayed those fears. Another factor... Boston is interestedd. 1 guy doesn't allay those fears. Plenty of MLB hacks have lit up the Korean league so it again all comes down to scouting. Does he have a slow bat that works in Korea but not the US? I have no idea. Now maybe he is this phenom with an electric bat and tons of tools that are eye popping and if so, sure, maybe he'll get an Abreu like deal. My presumption is though the league and teams will be very cautious and again the position he plays should also limit the size of a deal.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) Kang got 4 years and $11 million (which is seen as a HUGE bargain) and didn't put up the power numbers that this guy has. I would go out on a limb and bet on an Abreu sized deal in terms of max dollars. Kang had far more position flexibility. Real question is what are his tools. Their is no way a korean 1B is getting a deal anywhere near Abreu's. And Kang's deal is only viewed as a bargain now...it was fair market at the time of the deal.
  20. Given his position and relative age (still young...but not for long), I'll doubt he gets much of a contract (which limits the downside). I wouldn't mind giving a shot at him and see if he can hit. If he can, you have Abreu and him at 1B / DH. This is all presuming the price is right.
  21. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 12:24 PM) He only played most of those guys because injuries forced him to. Asik and Taj were coming together at the same time. I don't recall injuries forcing him to give them minutes. Niko was part of the rotation from the start of the season. When he won rookie of the month, he had an even greater role due to injuries, but he still got minutes. Butler might have gotten some additional minutes due to injuries, but he came through as well. I'm just saying, Bulls have a great track record of drafting under Paxson and Gar and Thibs also should get credit for the record of developing. Their were misses but given where they were picking, what they've done is pretty impressive, imo. With exception of Pax dealing Aldridge.
  22. QUOTE (ron883 @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 10:15 AM) If you equate marijuana to booze and strip clubs, you need a reality check my friend. I'm sure a number of them are related to medical marijuana, too. I'm saying I wouldn't want a bunch of them in my neighborhood. I'm not equating any of them, just saying I wouldn't want my neighborhood to have 100 bars, or a bunch of marijuana shops or a bunch of strip clubs. And I am not anti-booze, by the way. And yes, I would vote against legalizing the drug because the taxes just ensure the black market will continue to exist and to me that is the only worthwhile reason to legalize marijuana in my eyes.
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 10:49 AM) The problem is Thibs got forced into playing those players a lot. The Bench Mobs were fantastic. But we all know that Thibs buried young players unless there was an injury. Then they got buried again immediately, even if they played well. Thibs was an amazing coach, but his biggest weaknesses were a terrible offensive scheme (and reluctance to hire an offensive assistant) and his rigid rotations. I never bought the Thibs burries his rookie / young players argument. He got a ton out of Asik, Butler, Taj, and Niko. Yes, he didn't play Doug much last year, but Doug was hurt for a good chunk of the year and it was tough getting him involved. I'm sure this year he'd have gotten more minutes anyway. I do agree that it is nice to have a coach who would appear to have a better approach towards the long-term outlook in terms of minutes.
  24. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) I live in Denver (and, as a disclaimer, spend my time at microbreweries, not dispensaries). Yeah, the 16th Street Mall in downtown has vagrants, but it's always had vagrants. And the commercial real estate market in Denver is absolutely being driven by the marijuana industry (per a recent report, 1 in 11 commercial buildings in Denver are used for marijuana). The bankers have issues with it because banks have to deal with the conflict between federal and state law (lending where the collateral is being used in contravention of federal law - there are actually a lot of interesting legal cases dealing with the conflict between state and federal law). It's a positive from a state revenue standpoint. It's a positive for jobs and the real estate market. Changing the law now would shutter lots businesses, leave tons of commercial properties empty, shut down a reliable source of state revenue - revenue that funds education keeping that burden away from property taxes - and would have a horrible economic impact on the state... Yeah...I was aware of the banking issue and I would presume you'll have some state savings & loans pop up, but problem is you are out of luck having any form of FDIC protection, I believe. Not an expert but interesting and I presume someone is going to jump in and tackle the banking issue. The fact that 1 in 11 commercial buildings rae being used for marijuana is yet another reason I wouldn't vote. I wouldn't want 1 in 11 commercial buildings being used for booze or strip clubs either.
