What's your OCD?
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 19, 2009 -> 11:39 PM) I always have to close the door in my room to go to sleep. Even if it's open slightly, it gets to me. This is one I've started getting away from.

What's your OCD?
QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 19, 2009 -> 11:32 PM) My buddy does this too. Whenever I am giving him money I purposefully give it to him all f***ed up. My only weird thing is when I cook I always try to wash the dishes before I actually start eating whatever it is I made... I do the same thing. Once I'm done eating, I don't want to do anymore work.

I'm Getting a New TV
QUOTE (MEANS @ Dec 19, 2009 -> 07:43 PM) Ditto on that, I just got the same tv, i needed a good sized screen for a large bedroom with not much sunlight so that's why I went with a plasma, I got a sony blu-ray player and cannot believe how good the picture is. I went to a friends last night who has a 55" LED samsung and the picture was as good by the blacks were nowhere near as rich as on my plasma. Eventually I will probably pick up a LED for the family room to replace my Sharp 32" LCD, but not until they come down in price, btw I picked up the Samsung Plasma for about 1400. I got that TV, albeit a different size, and it is freaking beautiful. Mounted it on my wall and including the wall-mount it sticks out less than 6 inches. Its freaking awesome. I can also attest that the energy used on new plasmas is a lot less. Older generation plasmas used to get real hot but this new one doesn't run hot at all.

I'm Getting a New TV
QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) Only thing I'm worried about with LCD is that I'm hearing the picture gets fugged if you watch on an angle. Does the angle have to be extreme? Who watches tv straight on anyway? I know my Plasma works awesome on an angle. Got it up this weekend and the TV is f***ing beautiful.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 01:54 AM) Canker sores are the worst thing to ever happen to man. Agreed. I have a bad one right now and I hate it. It hurts to eat. Why do some people get them while others don't, I'll never know, but I've gotten em ever since I was a kid.

Your 2000 Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (WCSox @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 01:40 PM) The pitching PROSPECTS were very good (including one Mark Buehrle). The starting pitchers that were actually winning games for the 2000 Sox, however, were not. Baldwin had been considered a flop at that point, Parque was a marginal major league pitcher, and Cal Eldred had a long history of injuries at that point. I agree that there were some really nice prospects in the organization at the time, but it was difficult for me to believe that the Sox were going to out-pitch the Yankees in the playoffs at that point. The only pitchers who had looked good at the major league level at that point were Sirotka and Foulke. Oh, that lineup was sick. Those three plus Frank and Valentin, and you knew that they were going to score a lot of runs for the foreseeable future. I didn't feel comfortable about our chances of winning a pennant until Kenny traded for Freddy in 2004 (where Mark and Jon had already established themselves as really good and solid starters, respectively). In 03, the Sox had a rotation of Colon/Loaiza/Buehrle. That was about as good of a 1 through 3 in all of baseball that year and they had a stellar offense to go with it. Sure they had no depth, but the Sox had some teams that if they had gotten into the playoffs, they were built to win it all.

Official 2009-2010 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 11:27 AM) Terry Boers is giving out some VERY interesting stuff about the possibility of Lovie and or Jerry getting fired on the Score right now. Basically, a very important McCaskey wants Lovie gone, but a group of the lesser influential types wants him to stay (however, they want to see how the last three games went). And it looks like that if Lovie goes, so does Jerry. Jerry has no idea on what side of the fence to be... fire Lovie, or keep Lovie. Interesting. I certainly expect a few more beat-downs and when a team is constantly getting blown out it means changes are necessary.

Your 2000 Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (WCSox @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) I didn't get that feeling at all, as there were too many career years and too much luck in the starting rotation. The one guy that I thought would be good over the long-term (Sirotka) never pitched again in the bigs. It was a fun year, though. I was at the night home opener and the atmosphere was electric. After Ray Durham made a run-saving catch-and-throw in the top of the first and Frank got a standing ovation in the bottom half of the inning, I could tell that 2000 was going to be different. Kip Wells, Jon Garland, Jon Rauch were all some of the best pitching prospects in baseball. Add in Keith Foulke, Lorenzo Barcelo, Aaron Myette, Jason Stumm, Dan Wright, etc and you are talking about a team that was absolutely loaded. Than there were the solid vets like James Baldwin. So I don't know how you are talking about a ton of career years. That was a young team that was rated to have one of the best farm systems of all time. Turns out BA was completely wrong and a lot of the guys fizzled out, but people in baseball absolutely raved about the Sox stable of prospects. You had a young Ordonez/Lee/Konerko in your lineup too.

Halladay to Phillies in 4 team trade
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 19, 2009 -> 06:07 PM) I hate you. Vazquez has been dead to me for a while. To be fair, Floyd's ERA in his last 22 starts (which is cherry picking) was 2.97. Danks's was like 3.39, which is obviously good, but didn't have quite the same level of quality in regards to his peripherals. I just really think that Floyd is going to be dynamite next year, though I'm not going to be surprised in the least if he does essentially the same thing he did this year next year. Assuming Floyd is healthy, he's an absolute stud. I really think he had his best season to date last year. He was flat out filthy after his early struggles. And his ability to pitch deep into games is what I really like.

Crisp near signing with Oakland
I'd rather have Pierre than give Crisp that much money. Crisp at 4-5M given the injuries he's suffered and the down season he is coming off of seems like an awful lot. I didn't expect him to get more than 2M in guaranteed money.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 20, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) Angelo is the far bigger problem. As long as he is around I'm not sure it matters who is coach. I don't really think so. Jerry has done a lot of good. He's done some bad, but he's also done a lot of good. I am fine with him getting another coach.

Your 2000 Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 10:40 AM) No question 2000 was enjoyable... I'm unsure if 2008 bested them for me in terms of 2nd favorite. 2008 was fun too because of Quentin and Danks and Floyd and Ramirez. It was another year where the club had a lot of solid young players, but man, I remember thinking in 2000 that we were going to win multiple world series. It really was the first time I realized just how hard it is for a club to win a world series. Those teams were dominate and never made it back to the playoffs until the team dynamic changed in 2005. Hell, remember the year we had Loaiza put up Cy young numbers and Colon/Buehrle in the rotation. Geeze those early 2000 teams underperformed like no tomorrow under Jerry Manuel. So much freaking talent.

Your 2000 Chicago White Sox
Your 2000 Chicago White Sox I don't know about you guys, but for me, that was my 2nd favorite team of the decade. A young, up and coming team that just burst on the scene and flat out won a ton of games. The playoffs were a disappointment but with the farm system BA was hyping I thought we were on the verge of a dynasty.

What is a practical and perfect # of kids to have?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 10:14 AM) So what are going to going to do with the rest of his childhood? The first thing I'll teach him is what my dad taught me...how to bean the opposition to keep em honest, haha. In little league whenever I hit a kid, I'd look over to him and after the game I'd say he was leaning over, etc. I think it brought tears to my old mans eyes. Especially the one and only time I ever threw a no-no, where I ruined the perfect game by drilling someone, bahahaa. Ahh, the days where I was great at a sport. Now I'm glad to be mediocre on my softball club.

What is a practical and perfect # of kids to have?
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 07:20 AM) This question is really all opinion. I wouldnt mind 3, but thats because my first is a stepdaughter and I would like to have two children with my wife. If we end up sticking with just 2, I wont be crushed. I think 3 is my max. 2 is a good number but I would like to have a boy, so if the first two pop up as girls I've told my wife we are going for a 3rd. After that, I'm getting snipped. The fiance would like three though. I really think you are biased to agree with what you grew up with. I like two because I'm one of two and she likes three because she is one of three. I just want em healthy and to have one boy that I can pass all my sports knowledge too. She knows if we get three girls, at least one is going to turn into a total tomboy.

I'm Getting a New TV
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 07:57 AM) HAHA. I sold my 2000 LCD projection after I bought my plasma, if I didnt live in a condo, I would have the same set up. Those DLP's are damn nice TV's. I have a 50 inch which is now in the bedroom at my new place. Such a pleasure to move. I remember the days of the CRT's, just moving like a 32 inch TV could take 3 people depending on the size. I got mine in 2001 or so, I know I'll need to replace the bulb sooner or later but the picture is f***ing phenomenal and for the bedroom sake I need a stand for the PS3, etc, so I don't care if it isn't mounted. Hell, if they still made DLP's, I would have probably bought another, the picture is just awesome.

I'm Getting a New TV
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 05:50 AM) Heh, this is the same exact thing I did. I have a 43" DLP (generation1) upstairs -- I bought this in like 2000. I have a 32" LCD in the bedroom. ...and a 50" Plasma in the basement -- this is my movie watching/sports television. I was skeptical of Plasma because of all the myths you hear about burnin, and while that was once a concern, it's really a thing of the past. My Plasma have a few different things it does to make sure it doesn't happen like pixel shifting, etc. Plasma Burn in happens during the first 50-100 hours, but they also have new programs on the plasma tv's to counter-act the burn in once it happens and after about a month or so its a thing of the past. The new plasmas are also much more energy efficient, albeit still not quite as good as the LCD's. After doing the research, I ended up buying a 58Inch Samsung 1080P Plasma. I got it about 3 weeks ago for the place I'm moving too and will be mounting it up tomorrow. I can't comment on it yet, but based upon the reviews I saw online the big thing that did it for me with Plasma is that it is a better TV to watch sports in than an LCD and for movies it has darker blacks, which is nice, imo. That said, get the specs you want and go with Samsung (Plasma, LCD, or LED)/Sony (LCD)/Panasonic (Plasma) if you can afford to spend a bit more and you won't go wrong. Vizio makes a damn fine TV as well, especially for the money, but I always think when push comes to shove you can find specials from the big-boys and there picture quality is just a bit better, albeit I highly doubt 99% of the people would notice it, so again, it rages the debate of whether it is worth it. I also recommend buying online. Find a place with free shipping and no sales tax and it pays off big time. And if you are going to mount it, look online for the mounts, much cheaper than buying from Best Buys of the world.

But I know from helping friends that the biggest bed you can fit in most SUV's/Vans with a boxspring is a Full.

Chris Henry Dies
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 02:31 PM) And you knew him then? I didnt hear ANYONE sound emotional about him so far. The owner and coach of his own team couldnt even bring up any stories at all of how the guy was good other than some stories about ridiculous catches. They said more negative stuff about him than positive IMO. When you havea bunch of people having a hard time talking about your actual contribution to society its usually not a good sign. On top of that, the guy died trying to chase, break into the car of, and possibly injure the mother of his children. Its a bad thing that he died, but shedding a tear is a little much for that guy. I'm not about to call Henry a saint, but I'm not about to say good riddance, see ya asshole. He might have been this or that but I don't f***ing know so I'm not going to make an ignorant comment on the situation. No that you did Rock, I pretty much agree 100% with your post.

Do FAs want to come here?
QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 10:00 AM) Why would he want to come here as opposed to the Angels, who have won their division and made the playoffs for the last 5 years? Especially after seeing the success his former teammate Bobby Abreu had with the Angels? Is this inside info, Jason? Chicago is a large Japanese market that has had a few Japanese players who have came and said nothing but good things about the place. They are the 3rd largest market in the world as well. And the Sox have a tremendous pitching staff. The Angels have lost Lackey, Texeira, K-Rod, and Figgins in two years time and have had a horrendous off-season to date. Yes they play in a poor division, but I'd be hard pressed to see many experts that wouldn't say the Sox have as good of a shot as the Angels this year.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 10:19 AM) And no one in eastern or central Iowa will be able to watch Iowa or Iowa State's bowl games without a dish (or rabbit ears for Hawk fans). ISU game is on NFL Network, but there's now a disagreement between the owners of the Fox stations and Mediacom, the cable company that dominates Iowa. Both sides are really pessimistic that Mediacom will be showing Fox programming after the New Year. How the hell could a cable company have a dispute and not show channel Fox. It is an over the air channel for pete sake that anyone and there brother could get for free with a set of rabbit ears?
