Whatcha get?
It was a smaller than usual christmas this year. Moved into a new place about a week before Xmas, got engaged in September so between the moving expenses and wedding expenses we went pretty light: - Bears hat (the Cursive B one that Lovie wears) - Matix Sweater (Badass) - 50 Costco Cash Card - Pair of work shoes - Cash (from soon to be in law's)

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 03:48 PM) I would say that Hester in 2006-2007 (more 2007 since he did a lot of dumb rookie s*** in 2006) is far better than Bennett, Knox, or Manning, but Toub has a really great system going where basically any fast guy is explosive. Not to where opposing special teams coaches s*** themselves before games or anything and have to puss out by kicking the ball away from the return guy, but enough to break off the occasional TD, and a couple of long returns a game. Remember that before Hester we also had some pretty explosive return-men. Azumah was lethal, Vasher was above average. Hester was the best, but these other guys were amongst the best in the league as well. Devin isn't the only probowl return man Toub has had.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 05:15 AM) I think the king of all of those types of movies is The Running Man. I couldn't put that book down. There has never been another book that I was so into reading, but the movie was nothing like the book. I can't even emphasize enough how different they are to anyone who has seen the movie but not read the book. I thought the movie the Kite Runner was pretty damn good. Didn't read the book, but it got me to tear up and I almost never cry.

DIRECTV
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 10:18 AM) My DirectTV has a 30 sec jump ahead and 7 second jump back. The channel ordering in DirectTv actaully makes sense and it is rather easy to find something. I love the fact that if it is HD you get the channel in HD without having the non-HD option thus the channels are all the same on every box. The Dish DVR is better but he on-line setting of the DVR is a cool feature. I like the four tv's on one DVR option with Dish. The equipment for DirectTv is also much cheaper than cable not sure about Dish. I am hoping to get into the on-line On Demand feature one of these days. If this works there will be no comparison. The Customer Service with DirectTv has been much better than cable. Overall though, go with whichever vendor gives you the best package price. Equipment is much more expensive than cable. Cable you get everything free, just pay the monthly box fee. DirectTV you pay the monthly box fee plus a price just to lease the equipment (if you have HD, HD DVR, etc).

DIRECTV
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 02:16 PM) I'll echo everything everyone has said. My single solitary beef is that they want an extra $100 on top of the $250 they charge for Sunday Ticket if you want all the games in HD, Red Zone channel and game mix channel. Other than that, I love it. Great picture quality, great HD options, great for sports. Downside is the up-front costs for equipment (if you have multiple HD TV's, etc). And the fact that you have a contract is pretty ridiculous. I've had cable and directtv. I just moved and my new place DirectTV didn't work so I was allowed to leave my contract with no fees, but there are a lot of really good things about cable. The on-demand is great and the guide works much much faster than the HD Direct TV guides. The only real loss for me is the fact that MLB Xtra Innings isn't in high-def on cable but it is on Direct TV. I'll f***ing miss getting every White Sox game in HD (as an out of market fan), but cable is real nice and it is even better knowing I'm not stuck to a contract.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 09:40 AM) I'd have to debate acquiring McGrady. You get huge cap space next year, but I want to look as good as possible this year for FA's. Could the Bulls deal Deng for McGrady? If so, I'd do it.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 09:43 AM) Manning will never be anything more than a nickel back and therefore is perfect to replace Hester who seems to have lost the desire to return kicks. I think Hester has zero trade value as he will never be a reciever and Toub can be credtied with making him a returner. Bennett, Manning and Knox have looked good and we may never see the 2006 Hester again. You could get a 3rd for Hester no problem.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 08:10 AM) It's a testament as to how good of a running back he is that he can fumble so much, yet still get the ball 20+times a game, no questions asked. 95% of the RBs in the league would be out a job if they fumbled as much as him. Chester Taylor is pretty freaking good too.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 06:44 AM) I liked Lovie not calling his TO's there. He was riding it on his defense, and with Cutler's propensity to throw picks, I'd rather take my chances on the D stopping them on 4th and goal than on Cutler running the :45 drill. I'm going to say no, because our D didn't stop anyone in the 2nd half. Which is pretty typical. Our defense sucks and the defensive failures, combined with the poor clock management, poor using of challenges, inability to play the proper players, get any development, etc, etc, etc is why Lovie needs to go.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) Well that's not checking DOWN, but yeah, point remains. It is being reported that Cutler and Turner have had a ton of battles during the season regarding the play-calling. Doesn't shock me we saw Jay play well. It was one of the only games he has had solid protection more often than not and he was able to get outside of the pocket where he excels.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 09:04 PM) Did Jared Allen play tonight? F*cking redneck Chris Williams had himself a game. The guy is a great athlete and is starting to show why he was the 14th overall selection. The future, with a veteran WR, for the offensive skill players is pretty bright. I b**** and moan about there in-experience but the talent level is there with Bennett/Knox/DA. We just need to get a quality veteran in house as well. The rookie mistakes will go away in time too. But man they were killer during the season. Stopped routes, wrong routes, etc.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 08:31 PM) Zachary Bowman, they don't get much easier than that. Too bad this wasn't training camp, he would have made the pick then. Bowman has actually gotten better as the season has progressed, albeit, he should have that and if he does the game doesn't go to OT. That said, I want our D to suck because it makes Lovie look bad. If we were going to win, I wanted to win because of Jay and our young players and we really did today. And with Devin Arashamandamananana making some huge plays for us, it is yet another point for Angelo to say hey, the talent is there, the coaches just don't know how to use/develop it properly.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 08:25 PM) With Knox, Bennett, and Manning returning kicks and the emergence of Aromodoshu (sp?), Hester is very expendable in the off season. I've been saying it all along. Trade Hester. Toub is great and Hester wasn't the first nor will he be the last good returnman the Bears have if Toub sticks around. Manning is dynomite and Knox ain't too shabby himself.

Has anyone used an HDMI Splitter before? I was thinking of having my PS3 hooked up to my TV in the bedroom and the one in the family room. It is easy for me to do, but I don't know what sort of impact the splitter would have on the quality of my BluRay's. The splitter has a built in amplifier which I assume would help but if I kill the quality there isn't any point. I just thought it would be pretty cool to be able to play the PS3 in either room with ease.

I'm Getting a New TV
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 06:52 AM) Plasmas do have a glare issue if you're the type that cant stare through an image, but instead stare at the surface of the image. Any glass screen will do this -- I don't have this problem, so I don't notice it. My iMac is similar. After using a glass screen I can never go back to the dull matte screens again. I love glossy screens, they produce a better image. Plasmas don't really have many burn in issues anymore unless you are beyond careless. Most modern plasmas come with pixel shift technologies that shift images around the screen without the users noticing every X number of minutes, preventing images from causing burnin. Phosphor lag is also a thing of the past. My plasma is .001 ms response...no LCD or LED comes close to that kind of response time. This is why fast motion looks superior on plasmas, it can actually keep up with the images on the screen. Plus doesn't the burn in issue go away anyway if you run a program on the new plasma's which will undo any burn-in's. This program is on-top of the pixel shifting that the TV's do.

Are you kidding me, if I found the guy, I'd rip a fart and he'd pass out. Mario, Shipps and my fiance would all confirm I have the power to knock someone out with one single fart.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) Do you remember in 2001 when people were calling for HERM'S head because of all the injuries? It's amazing the lack of injuries our pitching staff has endured with the pairing of Cooper and Schneider. They were a perfect match. Nardi was the problem, imo.

Holy crap, my fiance's bank just got robbed. She called me to let me know that she's okay, waiting to find out the details. My good buddy is a cop in Irvine and texted me right when he heard the call come in on his radio. Sounds like no injuries but the suspect escaped...for now.

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) I used to get them ALL the time. I started doing research and found out that sodium lauryl sulfate in toothpaste causes them so I switched to Sensodyne toothpaste because it seems like every other toothpaste has that ingredient. I also noticed that walking on a cold floor right after taking your socks off will cause them. Lastly, if you brush you're teeth quickly and hit your gums hard, expect to get one. At that point you want to stay away from foods with a lot of acid that will upset it. After following these rules I almost completely stopped getting them. Switching toothpaste is what really helped prevent them for me. I'll have to try those things. Normally I get like 4 or 5 a year, normally super mild, but sometimes they'll be pretty big and those things hurt like a mofo. I'll try switching toothpastes. This one is in a terrible spot where it gets rubbed whenever I eat which is preventing it from getting better fast.
