  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 02:03 PM) If the cap unexpectedly goes up and we can afford two maxes, I'd love Bosh and Wade/Johnson, but right now it seems like Gay/Stoudemire could be somewhat possible. Also, having Kirk, Taj, and Noah around still would allow them to be better then Phoenix defense. So the Bulls would have enough money to be able to land both Gay/Stoudemire and keep Hinrich? How is that possible?
  2. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) Hagadone is a 24 yo (just turned 24) with TJS under his belt and 2 starts above low-A ball. He Ks guys, but he has walked 4.5/9 in his MiLB career. That's pretty harsh to put Hudson behind that resume. They messed up this list pretty good, imo.
  3. I'm starting to think he might find his way into the Sox budget.
  4. QUOTE (scenario @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 02:23 PM) Garland to the Pads. He'll put up pretty darn good numbers in San Diego.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) The Sox don't think he can be effective with limited plate appearances, and they don't want to mess up what they have. Further, I strongly doubt Thome is a part-time player in Minnesota. Unless they face a lefty, he'll be in the opening day lineup and he'll be a big part of their team. Does that mean they move there outstanding Dh who is a butcher in the field into the field so that Thome DH's? I don't buy it.

That is pretty freaking sweet. But what do you do if you do the tip and they say no...you take the money back right?
  7. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 09:13 AM) I don't think any of the 2010 Superstars are going to leave their teams, except for maybe Joe Johnson. Bosh will leave. He is the one guy that can make so much more in endorsements if he leaves and gets on a bigger named team. Wade/James don't really have much to gain by leaving.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 08:43 AM) I'd like Z, but that makes our backcourt really thin. The Lakers will never ever trade Fisher. He signed with the Lakers so his doctor could be treated at the hospitals in the area. And ownership knows that and understands that. Therefor, he's off limits.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 06:00 AM) He also needs to get to the line a lot to be a top guy,. If he learns to get to the line he will be a borderline elite player. If he improves his defense to go with it, he will be an elite player.
  10. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) I freakin' love Tom Crean. You guys got a hell of a coach in him. They got beat by Iowa..come on!!!

Saw the Book of Eli over the weekend. Me and my buddies enjoyed it. Good flick.
  12. QUOTE (Cali @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) Was thinking about this the other day, and even though I would hardly be considered a Chicago person as I've lived in LA more than I ever lived in Chicago, what classic Chicago traditions/food/sayings etc. do you NOT like/do/say whatever. I'm sure there are transplants like me who just stopped doing these things, or even people in Chicago who don't. Here are my sins: I don't like Deep Dish, I prefer the thinner crust. I prefer regular softball to 16", it's like playing baseball with a basketball. I like ketchup on my hot dogs, now, and when I lived there I liked it. I'm with you on all three of those. In fact I can't stand 16 inch softball, love ketchup on my dogs, and way way way prefer new york style to Deep Dish.
  13. Some great quotes so far: - Kenny says no Soxfest surprise - Kenny says he wanted to bring in an ace so that Floyd/Danks can see what one does and how they go about the game - Mark Gonzalez tweets that Jenks is in great shape and any negative feelings are past him
  14. I talked to someone last night that told me the current plan is for Trayce Thompson to spend next season in full-season A ball. That could change if Trayce struggles in minor league camp though and shows that he would be better fitted with extensive coaching (Fall League). He is incredibly raw, but the person I talked to last night was absolutely raving about his tools and long-term potential.
  15. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 07:01 AM) Technically, it depends on how the contract was specified. If the money is "damages", then yes. If it's a "severance" for wages, then he couldn't. I know people that were laid off at Deloitte received Severance and they were still able to take unemployment.
  16. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 10:42 AM) gonzalez supposably isnt even available at the moment so what does that mean?(signing thome if they dont land agon) Whether the club can get Gonzalez or not is another question, but the Sox have interest in Adrian. But if they aren't able to land Adrian for there DH, I expect Thome to come back in a reduced role. He would still be the primary starter, but I expect him to get less at-bats with Jones and some others stepping in.
  17. Jim Thome to the Twins?
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 12:05 PM) No, but I wasn't sure if he took the DC job at USC or is currently not employed. Hint, hint, our next DC... He followed his son to USC.
  19. My hopes of Seantrel are down the drain. Iowa actually declined the in-house visit, evidently they just didn't feel like they were going to get him so they needed to focus there time elsewhere.
  20. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) lol@Chargers forums, there is actually a thread discussing if the Chargers threw the game, citing examples as Kaeding missing badly, the personal fouls and drops by Gates in the 4th quarter...someone also posted a link to the 1920 (sic) Black Sox scandal noting that if it happened back then, why shouldn't it happened today. Links to the Mafia and that the Jets were big underdogs was also discussed Evidently Vincent Jackson was pulled over before the game....and there are reports out here that 8 Chargers were at the strip clubs till the wee hours of the morning before the game. Not a good sign if true. Not in regards to throwing the game..but rather in being prepared.
  21. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 08:09 PM) Bulls vs. Clippers tonight, second game of the west coast trip. Looking good through first quarter. It got ugly. So disappointing. I never get to see the Bulls win when I'm in attendance.
  22. Terrible signing by the Angels. I'd be surprised if he repeat his 2009 numbers.
  23. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 10:02 AM) She cut off his thumb to get the tracker off. She has become results orientated just like Jack. Remember Jack used a hacksaw in Season 2 to cut off a dudes head. Renee is just bringing back the old school. I love it! That is a bit more acceptable. I thought it was the hole hand.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 09:31 AM) I think Lickliter stays longer. McDermott has done just a brutal job with pretty good talent this season. Lickliter has some decent young players at Iowa, but you never hear them mentioned with top 50 prospects. The problem with Lick is that he's had tons of players transfer out and they just have nothing. They are such an awful awful team. He's a good coach but I just dont' know if his style of basketball works in a major conference. I still continue to hope and dream that Iowa can hire Steve Lavin. He might not be the greatest coach, but he can recruit, recruit, recruit. But he can only accept an Iowa job cause otherwise I want to hear him broadcasting (cause he's entertaining).
