  1. I say that and than he has this huge f***ing swing and pops up the next pitch.
  2. FIelds will deliver. Swing looks much better right there. Hitch is a lot smaller.
  3. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 17, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) I'm with Fathom on this one, you keep Thornton and trade Jenks. Jenks has much more trade value and will bring in as much or more than anyone else we might trade. Plus, he has potential arm troubles and will see a great increase in salary of the next couple of years. And, I think a possible trade partner for him might be the team we are facing today. They could use a closer with Ryan's arm being practically dead and Scott Downs, well, I doubt he's their ideal closer. Angels need to upgrade there pen. Fuentes hasn't been a problem but you get Jenks and that pen gets a lot better real fast. I don't know if they have the prospects the Sox would want though. Thome smokes the s*** out of a double.
  4. Oh man, Thome just got a 3-1 cookie and whiffed on it.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ May 17, 2009 -> 10:44 AM) is there any doubt that the toronto blue jays are the best team in baseball? and led of course by a nasty ass young pitching staff. with pesky outs? i hate to say it but this team is for real. They are definately a legitimate team.
  6. Hawk needs to shut the f*** up. I love Getzy. Oooh and I'm a dumbass, I just remembered I had paused my Sox game at the beginning and that was why my feed was so behind.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2009 -> 10:39 AM) Gavin's curve has still been dominant this year. He really should throw it any time he gets 2 strikes on the hitter. If the hitter does damage on it, good for them. Ya, his big hook has been nice, its the one he throws for a first pitch strike thats been non-existent.
  8. QUOTE (qwerty @ May 17, 2009 -> 03:46 AM) The 8 ways are as follows. Hit. Walk. Hbp. Third strike not caught. Fielder's choice. Error. Catcher interference. Fielder obstruction. ESPN did there thing, but I always thought there were 8 ways to get on base. ANd those above were them.
  9. That was an awesome Curve Gavin threw to Lind to get the whiff. 2 quick outs now as Rolen flies out to CF. I just want to see Gavin get command of the curve he can throw for a strike early in the count.
  10. Okay FLoyd, we need a good 1-2-3 inning out of you here. How the hell did ROlen get that. He caught that thing so awkardly. I guess thats why he's a 7 time gold glover.
  11. QUOTE (shipps @ May 17, 2009 -> 10:32 AM) directv is horrible, when the sox are at home I hear the fireworks before I see it on tv. Its pretty sweet for me though, I get all of the baseball games in HD. Pods 0-1 now. So I think I'm on a good feed now. Just have to listen to the Jays announcers.
  12. Oh ya, thats a bit better. Halladay is 3-2 to Lillibridge. Is that at all up to speed?
  13. f***, I gotta switch feeds and see if the Jays HD feed is a little faster.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 17, 2009 -> 10:28 AM) Ozzie isn't there. Joey Cora is in charge. Joey is the biggest reason I don't want Ozzie to quit. He most definitely would be the replacement. Wheres Ozzie? Graduation? Well now its 2-1 on my feed. What the f***, why would directtv have such a late feed.
  15. Is my feed on a major delay or something, its 2-0 with 2 outs?
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 17, 2009 -> 10:25 AM) The other thing was when it was 3-2 on Thome, Konerko was in motion. If Thome k'd which happens fairly often, 2 White Sox outs would have been Dye and Konerko caught stealings. Ya, I was stunned Paulie was moving, at the same time, I'm not opposed to forcing the issue. I just didnt like running Dye with Thome on base, but I'm thinking that was on Dye not Ozzie. Dye I believe has a green light to go when he wants to and thought he got a good enough jump to steal 3rd. In fact he did cause he was safe, but ump made the call and it was a close play. I hope Ozzie didn't call for the steal. I still wish we had even more guys that could run on this team (not just only run, but run and hit for an average).
  17. Dye was safe, don't agree at all with sending him in that spot, but he was safe. Still, nice offensive inning. I liked how JD and Dye both went up the middle opposite field and Getz speed looked nice as it turned an ab where he was giving himself up to get Pods over into a basehit and Pods did a nice job turning and driving a pitch. I'll take it.
  18. Gonnae be watching the game today with my best buddy thats a huge Wings fan.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 15, 2009 -> 06:16 PM) This guy just seems like another "safe" arm that we have been taking for the past several years. The strategy has done absolutely nothing for us, at least in terms of first round talent, with the exception being that Poreda might end up at least having a sustainable MLB career. I'd like to see us take a guy with a bit more risk/reward, such as a high school arm, or even better, just another position prospect. It's become obvious that this offense will continue to need to be overhauled, even with all the talent down in Birmingham, for the next several years. This couldn't possibly be considered a safe arm. A safe arm is Mike Leake, not Arnett. A safe arm is a guy with good control, a mixture of solid picthes, and a 87-90MPH fastball. Arnett is abig bodies, hard throwing kid thats raw. Nothing safe about this pick.
  20. Most places have him going anywhere from round 2 to 5 (based on talent) and I must admit, its hard to knock the results. He had what, 3 consecutive no hitters (or was it 4?).
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 15, 2009 -> 05:45 PM) You sure? He was all-world with regards to hype. He did make the Olympic team (not that I have to tell you). I wish I would have watched that game if it was on. He was thought of as a #1 pick but 50 million dollar demands weren't around at that time. He got even better in the last year.
  22. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 15, 2009 -> 05:19 PM) They have Grant Green going 3rd overall... Oh okay, I knew something had to be off. I had seen him slated most places as still being a top 15 pick. Thanks for pointing that out. Been a long week, haha.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ May 15, 2009 -> 05:29 PM) Nothing I've heard of, but I'll do some research. What day is the draft this year again? Remember, Strausburg wasn't even Strausburg at this time last year. First round pick, top 5 pick, yes, but this freaking good, no.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 15, 2009 -> 05:27 PM) Is there a Strasbourg equivalent next year? He's the best to come along in 30 years of the draft so I'm going to say no. And with prep guys its just hard to say where they'll be cause they are just so damn young.
